View Full Details of The UplandsMy mum was a resident at The Uplands for 15 months, during which time she received excellent care, always delivered with great compassion and efficiency. It was a very difficult time for mum and all of the family. We experienced some very emotional times but through all of this we felt upheld and supported by all of the staff group, including reception, domestics, maintenance, kitchen, activities, carers, nurses and management. We will always remember The Uplands staff with great fondness and appreciation.
My mother was only there for 3 weeks but thought The Uplands is a wonderful place and that the staff were all fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. They were also great with the family as well at a very tough time for us all. Thank you for all of your help and support
The carers are caring, empathetic and respect patients' dignity. One issue is newly trained staff not fully up to date with systems before being left in charge. Maintenance staff are unfriendly and not approachable. Meals are not always hot when given to patients due to staff being called to do other duties, so meals are not served in good time. The unit could benefit from kitchen staff serving meals.
My father has only been here for a short period but has settled in really well. The staff are very helpful and patient with him. They treat him with respect and care. Everyone is friendly and helpful to us too which is very reassuring. Any questions are answered without hesitation.
My sister receives excellent ongoing care for a very grim condition she has lived with for several years.
We have found all staff throughout The Uplands to be kind, caring and compassionate. There have been minor issues in relation to things like laundry, missing clothes etc. but on the whole, we are pleased with the care provided.
For a younger person in a nursing home, this is still a good place to be. I would have loved it if this was closer to the town center, so it would have been easier to go anywhere. The management is trying their best to keep the service improving and is very approachable. The staff are all very friendly and caring, but you have got the odd language barrier. The food at this home is okay, although I would like to see more variety. The rooms are a reasonable size but might be a bit cramped for younger physically disabled people. There are activities for all, with a lot of artists/entertainers coming into the home.
Everyone from front of house (reception) carers, nursing team, maintenance, kitchen staff, and cleaners are amazing. Would highly recommend it.
My gran came in a short stay as she wasn't well enough to go home from hospital. We found the care and whole service to be excellent. She enjoys doing activities that are on most days. We also like the fact that she can have her hair and nails done. I would definitely look at here again if we ever need to.
Since my husband has gone into The Uplands, as a dementia patient, the last six months have been the most settling and reassuring time for us, as a family. To see my husband smile and engage with us and all. The staff allows us to enjoy quality time with him, we have only ever been met with warm, kind and caring help and support from all the management, nurses and all the professional and hardworking carers from day one of my husband's Uplands journey. Finding the right home to meet all different patients' wants and needs is very hard to find, as family. The Uplands treat every resident with dignity and respect. Thank you so much.
It works well and very pleasant.
I have spent a lot of time at The Uplands visiting my mother. At all times, the staff on Dorrington have been amazing. Displaying great levels of care and being prepared to go the extra mile to ensure residents are as comfortable as practicably possible.
My nan has been at The Uplands for a couple of years and has been very happy. During Christmas, she was kept very busy with enjoyable activities which was amazing for her mental health, she had been feeling down but socialising in the activities gave her the boost she needed. At Christmas, as a family, we were so happy the home bought her a personalised Christmas present, it really put a smile on my nan's face. Her room has also been redecorated and it's lovely and homely, her room is kept lovely and clean. My nan is very happy living at The Uplands.
Can't say enough about the home. Very caring staff. Good manager. Lots of entertainment and good menu choices. My mum is happy and is always clean and tidy when I visit. Had a lovely Christmas with staff and families.
The care and compassion given to my dad was amazing - from the managers to the nurses - the carers - the activities staff - the general maintenance staff and the domestic staff, I could not fault the commitment to giving the best care possible. I can recommend The Uplands Nursing Home to anyone considering nursing residential care for their loved ones. My dad suffered with dementia among other illnesses and was a resident on the Meole Unit - I felt like part of the family and was made to feel very welcome every time I visited - I was kept up to date with every aspect of my dad's care. Unfortunately, my dad passed away due to his illnesses but I wouldn't have gotten through this very difficult time without the care and support of the wonderful staff at The Uplands.
I live in London and my uncle lives in Shropshire on his own. I called the home to inquire and they were able to admit my uncle at a short period of time. It was a big relief the management team was able to organise everything. I came to visit him during Christmas and I was amazed to see the improvement in his health. The staff were very friendly and the home was clean. My uncle appeared very happy. He’s now back home and if he needs to go back home again, I will never hesitate for him to go back to The Uplands.
It certainly would not be my first choice of nursing home in Shrewsbury.
My brother was very happy at The Uplands Care Home albeit for a short stay. In my opinion The Uplands is a very well-run care home, the staff are all first-class which made my brother's last days very peaceful.
Mum would want us to sincerely thank everyone at The Uplands for the kind and attentive care she received during her all too short stay. We wouldn't fault anything. Rooms were always clean, laundry was excellent (smelling fresh and ironed). Food was homecooked and lovely. Every member of staff we met (at all levels ranging from the front desk, the amazing cleaning staff, the warm hearted caregivers and the compassionate nursing) was absolutely amazing. People were knowledgeable and thoughtful, respectful and helpful both to mum and us as a family. We appreciated being made aware of the options and being involved in the decisions. We were kept informed at all stages and supported as a 'whole' right through to the peaceful end.
The care, compassion and kindness shown and given to my mum was amazing. Mum needed respite care and I have no doubt that the speed of her recovery was mainly due to her stay at the Uplands. Every single person who came into contact with mum were first class.
