View Full Details of Abbeywell Court Nursing and Residential HomeMum has been a resident for over a year now, on the whole, she's as happy as I've ever seen her. The staff are very helpful and seem dedicated to their job, I'm regularly notified of any issues regarding health concerns or personal care. It is always a delight to visit Mum to see the various activities taking place, knowing that she is cared for in every respect.
My mum has been a resident at Abbeywell Court Care Home for three years and I can say we have not had any issues with the care provided. The staff are on hand to help with any requests which are related to my mum's care and wellbeing.
I have no complaints whatsoever about Mum's treatment at Abbeywell Court Nursing and Residential Home. The staff work really hard and look after her really well. She likes living there and I am glad I decided on Abbeywell when I was looking for somewhere to care for her.
Mum has been at Abbeywell Court Nursing and Residential Home for just over a year and I'm pleased with her care. She is well settled and I know there are staff looking out for her. The staff are always polite and friendly and notify me if there are ever any issues.
The hands on care by care staff is great always respectful and with dignity and empathy. However, ongoing longstanding issues with communication from senior staff and management makes the experience a tad frustrating.
Staff are always helpful and very caring towards their residents, my dad seems to be happy and well looked after. My mum is always offered drinks and meals when I take her to visit my dad. The home is always clean and tidy.
My mother has been a resident at Abbeywell Court Care Home for three years, and I can honestly say we have never encountered any issues with the care provided. The staff consistently treat her with love, kindness, respect, and dignity. The nursing staff are particularly commendable, always promptly addressing any infections that arise. Abbeywell Court offers daily activities to suit the residents' needs and summer day trips, which the residents thoroughly enjoy. The Deputy Manager is always available to address any concerns and is consistently supportive of the families. However, while the care home provides excellent care, the facility itself appears outdated and in need of modernization. Unfortunately, the owner/management seems reluctant to make the necessary improvements.
Abbeywell has been really helpful with my dad. Dad is comfortable there and seems to be ok with his care. His room is kept clean and tidy and there is always a member of staff in the day room, where he sits, to help if needed.
My husband and I cared for our neighbour until he needed full-time care. I have worked in care for over 40 years and have seen both good and bad. Abbeywell is exceptional, it is very well run by a fabulous team. Everyone on the staff team is caring, kind and professional. If you want a nursing home with all the bells and whistles, this isn't it, but if want somewhere that is clean, comfortable and where all the staff will treat you or your loved one with kindness, dignity and respect, you cannot go wrong with Abbeywell. We are kept informed of our neighbour's needs ( he has no family so we are classed as his next of kin) by the wonderful nurses and management. Nothing is too much trouble. 5 stars.
When my sister arrived at Abbeywell Court 4 years ago her behaviour was very challenging but this was managed well. Her needs were met in a kindly and compassionate manner. It was good to see that there were activities tailored to my sister's needs, even after her comprehension deteriorated greatly. She was always included in the entertainment in the lounge. The furniture was very tired indeed. I was not 'next of kin' and would have liked emails to keep me up to date with regulations, particularly during Covid.
Overall, the home is a pleasant place to visit. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Special mention to the activities coordinator - she is very engaging with the residents/my mum. She is interested and stimulates them through being attuned to their needs and providing activities and materials - games, dolls, etc - all appropriate for someone with dementia. Thank you to the activities lady and all the staff team!
My mum has been at Abbeywell for 14 months, we had quite a few setbacks at first and I had quite a few meetings with the manager. However the last three months have been wonderful. The staff are regular, permanent staff and they are happy, polite and can't do enough for mum and us as a family. They know mum and us as a family and our needs and likes. The entertainment and outings are outstanding and we have had two wonderful birthdays with mum here, made really personal with banners cakes drinks and birthday cake. Can't comment on food as we have never seen moms meals but she is really well looked after with drinks whenever we are there.
My mom moved to Abbeywell right at Christmas time and I was so concerned how she would settle as she really had no idea she was in a home environment, I need not have worried, all the staff and management at this home are outstanding. My mom can be challenging in behaviours and they have shown patience and coaxed her to allow help when needed, she loves getting her hair done and her mood has lifted so much since coming here. Sadly, mom can’t remain as I live 300 miles away and I’m moving her closer to me to share precious time before dementia takes her away. But I would recommend this home to everyone. Thank you all.
After being my mum's carer for over four years I had to with a heavy heart choose a nursing home. I chose Abbeywell Court when I went to meet the manager, who is caring and reassuring and always has time to address any queries no matter how small. The staff helped to settle mum in are always welcoming, kind, compassionate and caring and very hard working. I am always informed how mum is. I am so thankful that mum is a resident here and to know that the staff are so amazing with all they do.
The team at Abbeywell have always shown professionalism in the way they look after my dad, from the very first day they were so friendly and welcoming, there have been some challenges over the last 10 months with dad's behaviour but the team have only ever shown compassion to my dad and always kept me updated.
All of the staff treated my dad with the utmost respect. They were very supportive of all the family at this very sad time. In all the time that my dad was at the home, he was given care second to none. All of the staff were considerate of his needs. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home.
Mum moved into Abbeywell Court just before Christmas last year after several weeks in hospital. My sister was Mum's primary caregiver but due to her complex needs, she could no longer be in her own home. I live abroad and this has been the first opportunity for me to visit because of covid restrictions. I am so impressed by the caring staff and upbeat atmosphere within the home. It seems nothing is too much trouble and everyone goes above and beyond to ensure the residents' needs are met and they are happy. I am returning home knowing Mum is in very good hands.
Although my mum only had a few weeks at the home, I felt all her end of life needs were met.
My mother has been living at Abbeywell Court for approximately two and a half years now. Whilst the home was not the most 'new and shiny' we saw when choosing a new home for her, the atmosphere seemed very positive. It has remained so throughout her time there. Upon every visit (most notably before the covid restrictions when I could arrive at any time without giving notice), I have found my mother to be clean and well presented. The staff have always been very proactive and conscientious; the home is clearly well run. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to others.
My Dad was transferred to Abbeywell Court as he was unable to go home from hospital (middle of the covid pandemic). It's been difficult as we haven't been able to visit under normal circumstances, but when we have visited we have been impressed with Dad's care, his appearance, and cleanliness. The staff are all attentive and pleasant. Thank you. Dad has Parkinson's-related Dementia and can be difficult to deal with.
