View Full Details of Briar Hill HouseOverall my brother is very happy at Briar Hill House Nursing Home. Just one thing, when the lunch was brought to him last time I was there, the person said to him that he could get out of bed if he wanted to but he prefers to lie in bed. As my brother has a heart problem, he is not even allowed to shave himself and has not been out of bed since he has been at BriarHill. She seems to think he can get out of bed and go to the dining area. From her manor the way she spoke to him, this was last Saturday. That is the only one small problem I have. As I said, this is my brother's third nursing home this is the very best one. He is very happy at Briar Hill House.
Staff went out of their way to ensure my relatives were included in the Christmas festivities regardless of their ability and capacity. Not only were there activities, the hinge was decorated nicely and staff made it as festive and homely as possible.
My father spent his last few weeks of life in Briar Hill House. He was cared for extremely well and the staff were exceptionally good with him. My mother has been there for nearly 6 years and has always had the best care.
Wonderful, friendly place. Management takes time to listen, are very approachable and caring. All Staff go over and above, always creating a warm, friendly atmosphere, having time to spend with residents, listen to residents and helping them to participate socially. Rooms are clean and daily laundry carried out. There is always something happening at Briar Hill House, they make sure there are plenty of social events available and family participation. When my husband was poorly, nursing staff did a fantastic job, all staff helping to care for him were on the ball. Briar Hill is well-maintained and any issues are dealt with efficiently. All meals are presented in an appetising manner, with a good choice, taking great care to ensure dietary needs are accommodated. I cannot thank the staff enough, they not only support my husband but me too, always a friendly face and so very caring and very hardworking.
Always a warm welcome, nursing/care colleagues are very friendly, caring, take an interest in residents and families visiting. Plenty of activities for those who want to join in, also family fun days celebrating events throughout the year. All round, a safe, support network for residents and family.
Briar Hill House is one big family. All staff are so lovely, and the welcome you get as you come into the care home is fabulous. All residents are treated as individuals with staff going the "extra mile" to make them happy and well looked after. There are numerous activities for the residents to get involved with and those who need extra support are included too. A wonderful, happy care home for the residents.
Both management and care staff take a keen interest in the pursuits/hobbies of the residents. There are always a range of activities taking place on a regular basis. Communications between ourselves and the home are good but outside organisations are often slower to respond. Security and safety checks are carried out on a regular basis. Kitchen staff produce a varied menu tailored to individual needs. Perceived limited staff-resident ratio can result in some residents feeling that their needs are not met as often as they would like or have been previously.
The decision for Mum to go into residential care was huge. From the beginning, the staff at Briar Hill House Care Home have been kind, understanding and very patient. Come the day of the move, staff were waiting ready to say hello and welcome Mum in. All of the staff did their utmost to be welcoming, accommodating, caring and patient. They helped to get Mum’s loved possessions around her, they helped Mum to get to know other residents and did their very best to help her settle. Two months later, Mum looks healthier, she feels safe and cared for and in her own words, she feels at home. She can choose to have her hair done, go to craft sessions or listen to a singer and go to the weekly church service. She can chat to the staff and other residents, she can welcome visitors and during the nights there is always someone to turn to. The family cannot thank all of the staff enough. Mum’s last few months in her own home were very difficult. Now we all know she is safe in caring hands 24 hours a day.
I was so unsure about having to put my dad in a home, how wrong was I! On my first visit to see the home and I was so, so impressed. The staff was all so welcoming and friendly and put my mind at ease when they said the words " It's not just a care home, it's your dad's home". How right were they! Felt like home from home!
There are care homes and there are caring homes. I class Briar Hill House as a caring home and that is down to the staff. I have only praise for the wonderful staff that work there. They went out of their way to make my mum very well cared for and I can only give them my thanks.
In the 2.5 weeks since my dad moved in, he has had the very best of care. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff without exception, have been excellent and caring and aware that this is a difficult time for family, as well as Dad. There is a friendly, happy atmosphere and it is a very pleasant place to spend time.
My mum was admitted here in late 2021 and passed away shortly after. The care that Mum received was exemplary. We could not have wished for more. Mum loved a good laugh and I was astonished to see that the entire team took to Mum and had a good old laugh (and sing) with her too. We cried lots also. The staff felt like an extension to the family. The staff made us all feel very welcome and responded superbly as Mum's condition rapidly deteriorated (which we were expecting, as she had just left hospital with an end-of-life prognosis). The home was spotlessly clean and the food was lovely with daily, home-cooked choices. Every member of staff deserves praise: Kitchen staff, Chaplain, cleaners, maintenance, carers, nurses, admin, young and old - every single one of them gave Mum, the best experience. In Mum's final few days the staff were expert at balancing their duties and being considerate of our needs too. Not once did we feel in the way or a nuisance. Thanks all.
Honestly couldn’t ask for more caring and considerate people! When it comes to my brother they are so professional, caring and loving! I’m so at ease with him at Briar Hill House knowing he is 1000% looked after and cared for! Even when it comes to myself visiting they are all so attentive, even when I have a little break down they are there handing me the tissues and making sure I’m okay! Lovely people with a lovely mentality!
A professionally run care home with a great team of care workers, office and management staff who work together to give excellent support and dignity to the residents. High standards of cleanliness and a calm, relaxed, homely environment for service users like myself to be part of the residence's ongoing support.
The family could not recommend highly enough. The time, attention and care you all gave to my father-in-law in his final days, even when he was anxious and frustrated will never be forgotten. We would like to give special mention to one member of staff in particular for his gentle nature and patience in calming my father-in-law. Another member of staff was also amazing. Their first-ever shift was also my father-in-law's first day and he bonded with them, always remembering their name, and even sharing a slice of cake with them the night he passed. We are all forever grateful that it was this member of staff with him when he finally passed. It's a comfort to us all that he was not alone. Although we have picked out specific individuals, we know that every single person working there have the same level of compassion and resilience. Every one of you are exemplary in your work.
Dad needed respite and as my nan had been a resident for many years before, we were extremely happy that Dad could go into Briar Hill on this occasion. Dad was very well looked after, made to feel very welcome and was very sad to leave. We will look to Briar Hill again should Dad need to go for respite. Thank you to all the wonderful, caring staff.
What can I say! I think this is the most fantastic place. I cannot believe the care and genuine compassion shown by all members of staff towards my aunt, who has settled in so well. Briar Hill has a home-from-home atmosphere when you walk through the door, nothing appears to be too much trouble for the staff. They keep you updated. My aunt loves the food and the way that staff pop in for a chat. She's included in everything that goes on and is happier than I've seen her for some time. She feels safe. I, as her niece, have a piece of mind that my aunt is well cared for and the staff go above and beyond. Thank you so much for everything. Can recommend 100%.
I always was made very welcome when visiting my sister. Her care was exemplary and she was always treated with respect and sympathetic care. I would and have recommended Briar Hill to friends, you wouldn’t find a better care/ nursing home anywhere. Even after my sister passed away recently, the staff have continued to be kind and caring, when I’ve had to collect my sister's belongings.
The first thing to notice on arrival at Briar Hill is that everywhere is immaculately clean. The staff have been doing an amazing job of looking after my sister - taking time to get to know her, and interacting with her in a beautiful way. Activities are planned each week, which give the residents a variety of things to think about and focus on......including crafts, much music, laughter and fun. All the residents appear peaceful and cheerful, having a good rapport with the staff and with one another. Communication with Briar Hill House is excellent. We find that both the telephone and the doorbell are answered as soon as possible. Being able to socialise on occasions within a family environment in the home is much appreciated - at events like carol services, fundraisers, etc. We are extremely grateful to have found such a caring community for my sister to call her home.
My husband has been a resident of Briar Hill House, Rugeley and I have nothing but praise for the staff, especially during the past year when we have been unable to visit. I phone the home each week and they are very helpful and friendly and let me know how my husband is doing.
