Over the last 12 months I am really happy with the care and support my mother-in-law has received. Celebrating Christmas, Birthdays, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and Halloween. The effort from all staff is brilliant. Treating people with respect is so important. I visit every day and have no complaints. I would recommend Scotia Heights to anyone who's family or relatives need a high level of care.
We have always been made to feel that it is our home too when we are there as a family. The staff have always been welcoming and informative as to what is going on when we are not there. We have visited each week and have been able to leave with peace of mind, knowing that she is well looked after when we are not there. Looked after as we would as a family. Deepest thanks.
Scotia Heights is not a place I would recommend under any circumstances. My niece has been there for over 6 years and her general health and care has been appalling. Nothing is transparent. I've seen the lengthy reviews since a new manager was appointed! However, how odd not one bad review. Five managers in five years until now. Do your homework, especially over care workers and visit without prior notice which all good care homes allow.
When my husband was admitted to Scotia Heights, he was made so welcome, and everybody was very nice and accommodating. The handyman, the domestics, the carers and the nurses are extremely accommodating. No matter what I ask, all my needs and my husband's needs have been met promptly. It's home-from-home, I come and go as I please, and the atmosphere is lovely. Very happy with my husband's care.
Dad has been a resident of the Aynsley suite for a few months now and we are overwhelmed with the love and care he (and family) is shown. He's well and truly part of their family and we feel the whole unit is part of ours too now. We are always greeted with a warm welcome, offered a drink and given an update on Dad and staff are the friendliest and most nurturing we have come across and it's evident that they all care. One member of staff never stops; she moves from resident to resident ensuring their well-being and happiness. She was obviously made for her job. Another member of staff has a wicked sense of humour which Dad responds amazingly to and seeing her relationship with him is so reassuring. The look on Dad's face when he sees two members of staff, in particular, is heartwarming and he genuinely loves their company. This is just to name a few, and everyone else forms an incredible team and we are so so lucky to have been welcomed in. Couldn't ask for more or for better. Thank you for everything!
My husband has recently been transferred from the hospital, and I can't believe how quickly he has settled here. He seems really happy and is always smiling when we visit. The staff are absolutely lovely and are so kind. The meals are good too. So overall, as a family, we couldn't be more pleased! Thank you so much.
Friendly, professional staff situated in modern, purpose-built facilities... very welcoming. Spotlessly clean, and staff were always happy to help; comforting to see that Covid measures were still taken very seriously.
My son has been a resident at Scotia Heights since 2006. Before the pandemic, he had a range of activities, including daily outings. During the pandemic, all that stopped, and we are now trying to re-establish a structured, varied care plan. It is clear that my son's funding threatens this aim as he requires 2 to 1 staffing during outings. Management, care and activities teams somehow stretch themselves to provide this, but it is not sustainable in the long term. During the pandemic, all staff were magnificent in their dedication to his welfare under the most difficult circumstances and deserve the highest praise. I have always expressed my satisfaction at his level of care and have found all staff responsive to my occasional suggestions/complaints. It is difficult for a parent to delegate the care of a loved one to others, but I have every confidence in Scotia Heights at present.
I am pleased, at last, that he is able to do some activities now that Covid restrictions have been eased. Unfortunately, the swimming, which he most benefits from has been curtailed due to closure and then it will be summer holidays. I am pleased with the timetable laid out for his activities and the fact that he has been provided with a quiet room away from the noisy residents. I am also pleased his room has been decorated and painted so beautifully. I am also pleased he has been able to go for walks outside of the building. The staff are delightful and seem particularly fond of him despite his challenging behaviour, at times. His personal care is good. My only criticism is when I was last in his room, that his bed does not have an under blanket, so he sleeps just on a sheet next to plastic. I did purchase an under blanket, but it disappeared. I would like to thank all the staff for their dedicated care and patience.
I have been with Scotia Heights for four years, and I know I have had my ups and downs, but I wouldn't change this home for another. The staff treat you with the uttermost respect and never have a problem helping you in doing day to day tasks.
My son is very comfortable in Scotia Heights - Spode Ward. The nurses are friendly and always speak when we visit; sometimes they sit with him to keep him company. Any emails sent to management were answered quickly and dealt with immediately. They are very cautious with visitors because of Covid and follow all measures to keep the units Covid free and protect the residents.
My nan recently moved here from another care home, and wow, what a difference in the care she is receiving. She has settled here very well. Having worked in care myself, I can see she is very well looked after here, and the staff are lovely. Nothing is too much. All the staff go above and beyond for their service users. Upon visiting Nan, as we walk through the corridors, all the staff are friendly and always speak, but not only that, you can see how caring the staff are with their service users; this is excellent to see. Keep up the good work guys - you're doing an amazing job.
Our 90-year-old mum came to Scotia from another care home that said they could not cope with mum. Mum has been in Scotia now for 5-weeks, what a massive difference in our mum. Mum has mixed dementia. On arrival to Scotia, the staff were very professional, and the caring for Mum was, and still, is of a very high standard. Our mums own words are, she feels like she is now being noticed by the nurses and staff. We, as a family, cannot thank all the staff enough, who are all very professional, always got time to listen to our concerns, and the mannerism of the staff is always excellent. So glad Mum was placed at Scotia with the excellent, professional staff. Our mum now has a smile back on her face; thanks again to all the lovely staff for turning things around for our mum. We would definitely recommend Scotia to anyone looking for that extra special professional care for a loved one.
Staff very friendly, they look after my son well. Very accomodating with keeping contact with my son, can't fault them. Staff very good with his needs, the nurse in charge of the unit very approachable. Would recommend it to anyone looking for brilliant care for themselves or a relative.
First, let me qualify the care and nursing is of the highest standard. The management is abysmal despite repeated telephone calls and messages left, emails sent they failed to respond for many months when they did information appertaining to the welfare of my cousin and staff safety was not documented. Even after a meeting with the area director things do not appear to have changed.
I have lived in Scotia Heights for two and a half years now and I am really settled. The staff are pleasant, there are loads of activities going on during the day to get involved in. Thank you, everyone at Scotia Heights for all my care.
My son was the 3rd person to be in this place and he has come on wonderfully, it's like home to him. The only thing that lets it all down is the front door. We have to wait 20-30 minutes to be let in. Could we please be allowed the number to the door, I have talked to quite a few people and they all want the same. It is not fair for the staff to leave what they are doing to answer the door. Could you not put a swipe card there and we could buy a card to get in to see our family or at least the number. I hope you will help as this is a wonderful home being let down over one little thing.
