View Full Details of Bakewell Cottage Nursing HomeMy mother will have been in the home for two years on 2nd December, following a stroke. Initially Mum thought she could cope at home with a little bit of help, but unfortunately, this wasn't practical due to her being paralyzed down the left side and all family members working full time. The carers soon took Mum to their hearts due to her sense of humour and she slowly settled into care home life. The staff at the home have been very friendly to me and my family and are always approachable if we have an issue. The food is fantastic, cooked on-site with lots of variation. There are activities most afternoons, if she wishes to join in. The gardens are lovely and private where she can sit out and enjoy the fresh air. They also hold events where family members can join in. I will admit I hated the thought of Mum being in a care home but I can't thank the staff enough for their care and patience, which puts my mind at ease as I know she is well looked after.
My father has been a resident of Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home since May 2024 and has really thrived there. The staff are lovely and very caring. There are always activities and events going on, in addition to clubs he can join. He wasn't able to live independently alone anymore but he has quality of life at the Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home and is very settled and happy there. I visit a lot of care homes in the course of my job, and the Cottage is the best I have seen. It really is in a class of its own.
I just wanted to thank the management and all the staff for their care, help and professionalism. My husband has recently arrived at the nursing home and I will never be able to thank everyone enough, not only how they care for my husband but the kindness they have shown to me and my family. This is a whole new experience for us and the circumstances which have brought my husband into care were unexpected and a shock to us all. The home is clean and friendly and the garden is beautiful, the food looks and smells lovely, we couldn't ask for better. The staff are incredible, they have shown patience and understanding to a family who are still in shock.
My mother was a resident at Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home for 9 months, and was very happy there. The staff were always kind, considerate and respectful towards her. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped and provided everything she needed. The staff were always helpful and pleasant when I visited and it gave me great peace of mind to know she was cared for by such wonderful staff.
Nurses and staff are all very kind and efficient and soon attend any problems that may occur. The highlight of this month was the outdoor barbecue which I believe all who could, in fact did attend with their photograph taken and displayed on the noticeboard for all to see. During each month, there are regular female and male singers, pub quizzes, flower arranging, table games and floor games. Including modified pilates class every fortnight which are enjoyed by all participants.
All the staff are friendly and approachable. The rooms are well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. There is an extensive menu of foods which always look and smell delicious. The staff are always popping in and out of the room to speak with my sister and she seems very content and happy there.
Our Mum came to Bakewell Cottage recently after we became dissatisfied with another local care home. It wasn't a quick or easy decision to uproot and move Mum but it only took a few days at Bakewell to realise that we'd made exactly the right decision. My 'mantra' for Bakewell Cottage compared to the previous care home is 'calmer and less drama'. As a family we have all been shown the greatest respect and kindness by all the staff and Mum's care has been wonderful from day one thus making the transition from the previous care home as good as seamless. In particular the thoughtfulness of all the staff has been outstanding as is the quality of the food. The ambience and overall calm feeling of the whole place has also been perfect. Thank you to all concerned for your support and help to this point.
Dad moved to the care home after the loss of Mum and being in hospital. Dad is a stoical man who does not take care lightly but I was amazed at how he settled in so well. To be frank, we did not think he would survive six months but over six years later is a testament to the wonderful care that has been provided at Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home. Dad, not really knowing the area, has been made to feel very welcome and although not one to socialise, he has found the kindness of the staff wonderful. Dad's health has been seen to in a caring way and both my sister and I value the strong bonds staff members have created with him. Dad is not one to suffer fools and is stubborn but the staff have handled him really well. A special mention to the kitchen who have really tried with Dad, in terms of choice and quality despite his grumpiness. The home has felt like a secure and loving environment which has really tried for Dad.
When our mum moved to long-term care we were pleased that she could be accommodated at Bakewell Cottage; however we did not fully appreciate at the time how fortunate this was. Two and a half years on we are very thankful for the wonderful care she is receiving. Our dad passed away earlier this year and we are so grateful that he had such a positive experience of her care. It is an inspiring place, with dedicated, professional, helpful and friendly staff and management team, clean homely rooms, an extensive well-kept garden, and excellent food, including regular home baking and tea parties. The special events are wonderful, involving great food and excellent live music, a huge effort is made by staff on these occasions but they always have time for warmth and fun. Updates regarding our Mum's health are always delivered in a caring way. We value that the staff have a strong appreciation of our mum's former character and have the time and interest to learn more about her earlier life.
Both my father and his wife are in care and have been for some years now in Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home. My sister and I feel so grateful to have them in such a sanctuary and it gives us such great peace of mind. We visit often and take great comfort always in how well they are looked after. All the staff are caring, professional and treat all the residents with the utmost dignity and kindness. The manager is exceptional and keeps us fully informed at all times and is so diligent and professional. We feel very blessed to have them both in such great hands. Thank you all so much!
I visit my father on a regular basis, and I find all the staff very welcoming and friendly. My father has been in Bakewell Cottage for over a year now, and he is well cared for and all his needs are met.
The quality of care and nursing for my mum was excellent. Staff are kind, caring and efficient, nursing staff are competent, professional, knowledgeable and responded quickly to any deviations in Mum's health. Mum was treated with the utmost respect and dignity at all times. The sensitivity shown by staff when Mum passed away was outstanding.
My uncle has been at Bakewell Cottage since January after a long hospital stay. He settled in quickly and seeing him after he’d been there only a fortnight, he looked so much better and well cared for. From our initial visit, we felt the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Staff are cheerful and polite, always interacting with residents and visitors. Residents are known well and treated as individuals and with dignity. All staff are superb and do everything they can to ensure the comfort and well-being of those in their care; nothing is too much trouble. The food is good and varied, and residents are encouraged to join in a variety of entertainment/activities. All areas of the home are so clean and fresh. There is a lovely garden too. The manager is excellent, caring, and available to help/advise. Communication is great; we are kept well informed. I have peace of mind that my uncle is receiving the best care, in a friendly, homely atmosphere. Thank you to all for the outstanding job you do.
My mother was admitted to Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home in June 2023 and I can honestly say that she has been treated with kindness, respect and care, with no exception, at all times. Her health is consistently monitored and any issues are immediately addressed and communicated to me. The food is exceptional and the home caters for special dietary requirements brilliantly. I cannot recall a single staff member, whom I have met, that doesn’t work to a high standard. They are unfailingly helpful and upbeat. I have found the manager and all the support team to be very helpful with any queries or concerns and can only assume, from the staff’s general attitude, that the home is run and managed to a very high standard and its staff are very happy in their roles. I would recommend Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home to anyone looking for a safe and comfortable home for their loved ones.
Both of my parents are residents in Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home, and as a family, we could not be happier with the care they are provided. The residents’ rooms are comfortable and clean, as are the communal spaces such as the lounge and dining room. The food is very impressive, meals are varied and always freshly prepared, with lots of home baking. There are regular activities, suitable to different abilities, such as chair Pilates, singing and games, which Mum and Dad have enjoyed. What stands out most of all, is the commitment and compassion shown by the staff. You can see that each person genuinely cares and enjoys their role. The care is personalised, Mum and Dad’s individual needs are met appropriately and there is lots of good humour too. We are always kept informed of changes in Mum and Dad's health and care. It is very reassuring to know that they are so well cared for.
I'm floored by how great everyone is. It's the best place for Mum, to be surrounded by the common sense, humour, and (now that her eyesight's failing) accents that she grew up with. Wonderful place and people.
In memory of a great man, my utmost thanks to the dedicated, professional, personal care he received, a great man and what the great man deserved. Allowing him to pass with dignity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, my sister drew great comfort from what was/is a very difficult time. Care homes do get bad press, it's a difficult time and we don't always reflect properly, I am not going to single out any member of staff because all staff were brilliant. Finally, God bless you all.
My husband went into the home for end-of-life care when I could no longer look after him at home. He deteriorated quickly and should have had a “good” death. Unfortunately due to the attitude of the home and the brick wall they built he did not have a good death and I so regret sending him there.
Our dad needed to move from a residential home when he needed extra support and care following another stay in hospital. We looked around several homes in the area and we all decided that we wanted him to go to Bakewell Cottage. We have been really pleased with our decision. Dad is well looked after and has a lovely room which is always sparkling clean. Although he can be quite a fussy eater and knows his own mind, the staff always provide food and drinks to tempt his appetite. Dad has a good sense of humour and enjoys joking with the staff. All the staff are always friendly and informative when any of us visits and we can visit at any time.
Very professional, staff were lovely, caring, considerate and kept good morale. Daily programme good. Manager very professional and caring.
