View Full Details of Brookview Nursing HomeMy stepmother was very well looked after by the staff at Brookview Nursing Home during her long stay there. She was given care to a high standard in a friendly and efficient way by the lovely people employed to do so. My most sincerest thanks to them all.
I was extremely happy with the care and support the Brookview Nursing Home team gave the resident and me over the last few years. Nothing has been too much trouble and genuine care was given in very challenging times. It made a difficult time much easier, especially the resident but also myself. The team worked closely together and this could be seen at all the different levels, from first-line carer to the management. Amazing support!
My husband is a resident of Brookview Nursing Home. He has complex needs due to Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. He is always treated with kindness, compassion and great care. Nothing is too much trouble, and there is always a member of staff on hand to help.
Staff are always friendly and helpful, always have time to interact with my dad. He's happy there which means a lot to me and rest of the family.
Excellent service in all areas. Very sensitive caring for residents and visitors alike.
I am always welcomed with a friendly face. The home will contact me with any concerns straight away. Mum is usually up and loves to be with people she enjoys activities, especially crafts. It is a pity they no longer have the minibus as mum used to love going out. It is really nice that mum is able to have her hair done on-site she used to go every week at home and this is some normality for her. She is always warm and she seems happy enough especially love the themed afternoon teas as it gives us time to be with mum on our own (she finds it difficult to get in and out of the car).
This home has always had the feel of a real home rather than a staging post, it's something else. Management has been consistent. Staff have come and gone during my fathers 4 year's plus in residence. He is currently very happy with the service he is receiving. There are always one or two areas where small improvements would help. These are reflected in the scores below.
Do not contemplate sending a relative here. The attitude of one of the nursing sisters is appalling, rude to me on several occasions when I phoned to enquire about my mum and used deprecating language about my mother and one of her visitors under the guise of being 'strict' My mother was clearly at the end of her life and was very anxious. The nurse in question was scathing about her anxiety and distinctly 'cagey' about her care. Compassion was severely lacking. My mother wasn't treated with any dignity whatsoever, from not wearing clean clothes every day and other residents wandering in and out of her room as she lay dying. I had to insist on a stair gate being fitted to her room so she was afforded some peace (she was petrified of other guests wandering in). This was delayed until I actually visited and it 'miraculously' turned up when I was there, as did a change of batteries on a call bell. Other staff I met were perfectly pleasant but didn't seem caring in any way. Avoid.
Caring, considerate and cater to individual needs. Staffed by a range of ages, not all young people.
I seriously do not recommend you take your relatives to reside in this care home. My mother spent several days in this care home and she has ended up back in hospital with a serious and complicated fracture of her femur bone that could end her life if operated on. This is extremely distressing for her sons. She was also seriously dehydrated and had to have two blood transfusions. I her son have witnessed careless forgetfulness by some of the staff whilst I was visiting my mother. I am deeply regretful that I did not act sooner to protect my mother. This care home will be under a formal investigation about the care of my mother by the Derbyshire County Council. Put your relatives in this home at your peril!
I know my mother in law is getting the best care possible. She is treated with the upmost respect and can ask for anything and will get it.
My mother has been a resident for 2 years, receiving excellent care and attention from all the staff and management. I do highly recommend Brookview to any relatives looking to lace their family members in a care/nursing home.
The care and attention received has been very good. My dad even states how well they look after him. They encourage him to attend regular functions which the staff put on. Food is very nice and varied. Management are very attentive to our needs.
My stepfather has been a resident since December 2018. He has Alzheimer's. The staff have always been extremely patient and caring with him, encouraging him to eat and giving him what he likes. They have nursed him through various infections and have always been very kind. We are very pleased with the care he has been given.
Friendly welcoming and professional staff always willing to help. Clean and tidy, nicely decorated and light and airy.
My mother has been in Brookfield for a few weeks now and my family are extremely happy how she has been looked after . Mum is very happy how she is treated by all the staff.
I am writing to say thank you for the wonderful care you have provided for my father who has been with you for a few weeks now. It was a difficult decision for us to make, as we were worried about how he would be cared for, as you hear so many negative stories these days. We need not have worried at all. The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much for them and my dad has told me many times how great they are. And this is from a gentleman who can be a tad grumpy at times, even this doesn’t phase the staff. He is checked regularly and all his care and dietary needs are met. Thank you all very much.
Brookview offers a warm, homely atmosphere and the highest standard of care. The well-being of my husband was their primary concern, whatever challenges they were given. They gave me complete peace of mind after every visit and I would highly recommend Brookview Nursing Home.
My general view of Brookview Nursing Home is very good but I think one area to be considered is safeguarding the needs of vulnerable residents from the wanderings of the confused and unsettled and the ones who enter the other rooms. This can be very upsetting for the residents when the understanding of emergency buttons is not there.
More casual seating could be supplied for visiting guests. Water and glass should be available 24 hours a day. No receptionist is on duty at weekends, resulting in often long delays for visitors to gain access to the home.
