View Full Details of The Vale Care HomeWe as a family have found the care home very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, our mum has made friends, and been able to feel part of a family. The only negatives I have are the home really needs upgrading it's very tired looking, also displaying menus they're not always on display personally I think picture menus are a fantastic idea especially for dementia residents. The manager is lovely and comes and chats quite often which I find nice.
Currently my dad resides at the vale. He needs full care as his body no longer functions due to his Parkinson's and other Parkinson related illnesses. However, he is sound of mind, enjoys being grumpy, says what he thinks and quite stubborn at times too! But the staff understand that, don't take offence and actually take the time to talk him round! They bend over backwards trying to make his meals varied despite his strict soft food diet and the chef even sits and goes through menus with him. They have regular entertainment and activities, celebrations and events. This week he had his birthday and they spoilt him with a tea party, full decorations and food. It was wonderful. His room has been freshly decorated and is always clean, the home is always warm and never seems to have a smell (which others can do) nothings too much trouble. I would definitely recommend and we're so pleased he went on respite there as they gave him the care that made the transition to full care easier
I attended a review meeting regarding my father who is a resident. The meeting room was appropriate for the meeting. I was met at the door by a staff member and escorted to the meeting room. Appropriate refreshments were offered and my father (resident) and mother were treated with dignity and respect. All staff members were personable, pleasant and helpful.
My mam is happy and safe which is priceless to me. She is a bit fed up of the sausages for lunch but they are ok if really well cooked. Her room is clean and tidy, we are still waiting for a second call button in her room. The staff are really caring and friendly and cannot do enough for her. The manager is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and very approachable.
Mum has had excellent care despite having alzheimers and being challenging at times. Staff are caring and compassionate from admin domiciliary carers nurses and managers. Her carer particularly has gone above and beyond to make mum comfortable and her family feel welcome and included. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the food is excellent.
I came in for 2 weeks respite and stayed for 3 the manager is lovely nothing too much trouble. The staff are fantastic they make you feel very welcome and nothing too much trouble for them. It's just like being at home, the rooms are cleaned every day and the dinner cook is fantastic. You have home-cooked meals every day and they cater for your needs to like. I have and will be coming back and hoping to stay for good and they say I can help with the entertainment side of things which I will look forward to so I can't wait till February.
I’ve rated this care home 1 star. My dad stayed in this care home for a two-week respite so my mum could have a rest, but we ended up taking him out after 9 days. We told the staff about my dad's needs on many occasions but we were concerned on each visit about his care. My dad has Parkinson’s and dementia. He needs help with everything. We understand that there are other residents with needs but my dad's basic needs we’re not carried out. When we took him home that morning, he was confused, agitated, and in some pain in his foot. We ended up having to ring his GP and they diagnosed cellulitis and prescribed him antibiotics as it can be a very serious condition. If we had left him any longer, goodness knows what outcome it would have been. To say we are furious is an understatement. Now he’s back home he has deteriorated so much and he's so confused. There is no way we would recommend this care home.
My sister went into The Vale Care Home in December 2020, and she was not very well at all. I've spoken to her every week on the phone, and I noticed a difference in how settled she was. I eventually got to see her last week, and I was shocked to see how well and happy she was. The Vale Care Home staff are amazing, and the manager goes out of her way to make sure your happy and your family member gets everything they need, so thank you to all at The Vale for giving me back my sister, can't thank you enough.
I have nothing but praise for all your staff. I have watched the kindness shown to the residents. Thank you so much for everything you have done for my husband.
The staff at the Vale overall are absolutely lovely, very professional, caring and genuine people. Higher management, however, including that who oversees facilities - is dreadful, almost comically tragic. My mother has been 3 times, 1st time brilliant, last 2 visits management were unable to plan simple tasks to make sure my mothers care needs are met - that is the bare minimum you are there to provide. I will not go into details, but on the 2nd occasion we didn't leave my mum, we took her straight back home, didn't even get her bags out of the car. 3rd occasion, still not right, my mother stayed for a few days and we took her home early, she now vows to never return. But again she loved the staff. I genuinely feel sorry for the staff that put the hours in, and of course the patients, they deserve better.
An extremely well run care home. Staff are always pleasant and polite. The residents are always well dressed and well looked after and always try to anticipate their needs. The home itself is generally clean and tidy and the domestic staff are always on hand for a chat with the residents and put a smile on their faces. The staff do their best under pressure when short staffed. The only negative is that there are always agency nurses on duty during the day with no resident nurse.
I'm happy with his care. He joins in activities when he can.
Safe, secure, good food.
Always been happy with the staff, attitudes, helpfulness. Also keeps mum happy with personal care and they go above and beyond to help.
No problems. Staff treat my daughter with dignity and respect. Always a welcome smile.
My dad moved into The Vale in March of this year. He loves it here, it's clean, staff are very pleasant and hardworking. The manager is approachable. My dad says the room is very nice and he has been able to personalise it to his own taste. The wet room is amazing and my dad is offered daily if he wants a shower. The food and drink are very appetizing and ample. I think the activities coordinator is very understanding of the resident's needs and does a variety of different activities for all residents. I think the home is very safe and also value for money.
The Four Seasons is a very friendly place to come and visit. They not only take care of you, they always find time to sit and talk to you. When you come to see the residents the staff are always doing something with the residents like painting nails, doing their hair, putting on makeup, anything to make them happy. Just because they are disabled it doesn't mean that they can't be happy. They love to play games and sing songs.
Much improved with this Manager. My sister is getting out more and activities are much better.
Staff are very good especially the new activities co-ordinator. The home itself has really improved had a makeover. Mum is much more settled now.
The manager makes himself known to residents and this is well received by them. Information about my mother's well-being is always communicated as soon as I arrive. This shows that they are observant and they care. Rooms/communal areas are kept clean. Personal clothing and bedding are also kept clean and fresh. The dining arrangements are flexible to suit residents needs which can vary. Unfortunately The Vale has had difficulty recruiting an Events Co-ordinator over several months so I cannot review this element. Perhaps this reflects the fact that the post is part time and has a requirement to drive the mini bus limiting the number of candidates.
