View Full Details of The Lodge Care Home (Killamarsh)The care here is brilliant. 2 lovely carers have taken it upon themselves to make activities for the residents and take them out to the local nursery. As The Lodge Care Home doesn't have activity staff this is very welcomed.
Lovely hardworking nursing staff, health care workers and other staff members who looked after my mum in the last days of her life. The room she was in was clean and comfortable. Only criticism is that there needs to be more staff as they were always so busy looking after people. They all deserved a medal.
The staff at the home were excellent, really couldn't ask for more. They have been caring, supportive and empathetic, they are the reason we decided this was the care home for mum. One thing lacking was activities, I felt much of the time the residents were bored and it seemed no effort was made to give them something to do. This is no reflection on the staff, this was due to the fact no one was employed to take a lead on activities.
The care staff at The Lodge Care Home have treated mum with respect and outstanding care. They have not only supported mum while at The Lodge but also family members when mum was in her final stages. I feel that the staff are superb but I also feel that they are grossly understaffed. The only disappointment I need to mention is the lack of an activities manager at the Lodge. I would like to thank the staff for all their hard work and level of commitment.
The staff are so friendly and caring towards residents and all work well as a team. The food is good and everywhere always looks clean and tidy. Mum is very happy here.
My dad was put into your care because my mum had to have an operation and she is his main carer. Dad was very happy and settled in your care and he was always clean and very well fed. This was a very upsetting time for us as a family but our minds were put to rest that Dad was being very well looked after. Thank you.
The one big positive The Lodge Care Home has is the care staff. They have made Mum feel safe and comfortable. They treat her and others with dignity which gives the family comfort. The introduction of entertainment staff has been a real boost. She also loves the nutritional food provided by the catering staff.
Suffer from bullying from care staff, lack of personal care and food very poor. When asking to go back to my room, don't get taken promptly. Overpriced and poor facilities.
Mum has only been at The Lodge Care Home (Killamarsh) since 6/3/23, so this review is based on a short period of time. Before Mum's transfer from the hospital, the manager visited her which was reassuring. Management is approachable at all times. Disappointed at the level of activities but a coordinator has just been appointed so that should improve. Mum has had her hair and nails done. Up to now, I have no major concerns for Mum and am happy to review again in three months. The home always smells clean on every visit.
Helped by a staff member, she came out to see my mam and helped us to get her into The Lodge. Mam was very, very poorly. Since Mam was admitted to The Lodge, Mam has got a bit stronger and is able to be out of bed. Assisted with her day-to-day personal hygiene, showering/toileting etc. Mam enjoys her meals again which is nice to see. She couldn't be cared for any better anywhere.
All the staff are helpful and friendly, the home is clean and the food good and different activities. I am very pleased with The Lodge. My mother now has the care that she needs and deserves, we are so glad that we found The Lodge as I don't think my mother would have got any better looked after anywhere. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all management and staff for everything.
Since the new manager has taken over, the furniture and decorations have been changed. Staffing levels appear to have improved and are more attentive and friendly. Fees are very high and not comparable with other homes, they appear excessive for the level of care that my sister-in-law needs.
My mother-in-law has been a resident for a number of months. On the occasions that I visited, the care home was clean, secure and well-staffed. The staff were always pleasant, helpful and approachable.
The Lodge is a calm and caring place. As a relative, I am included in all aspects of my Mum's care. The team are all very respectful and gentle on the telephone, particularly with my father, who calls daily to see how Mum is. I sometimes find it difficult to get through to care teams on the telephone.
A warm greeting on arrival, helpful staff. Good atmosphere in the home. Usually a cleaner, cleaning somewhere. Help to our loved one, when asked, promptly arrived. Nurses are polite and caring. As good as an experience as we could hope for, in our sad circumstances.
My mum is in respite at the care home. She seems to have settled in and never complains about the care she is given. The staff are always very polite and helpful when needed. Overall, very pleased with the care provided for my mum and I would definitely recommend this care provider to family and friends.
Clean. Staff are good and enjoy the meals. I wouldn't change anything.
It has to be borne in mind that the period we are discussing has coincided with the COVID-19 lockdown, so some of the observations can only be given from a distance. Having said that, our dealings with any member of staff or management have been excellent. When necessary, at the beginning, they made sure that we were put at ease regarding any concerns which may have bothered us. It was my mother-in-law's birthday whilst she has been resident, and although it wouldn't have been normal for her, The Lodge made every effort to make it a special day for her. THANK YOU. The activities which are undertaken provide excellent stimulus.
The staff seemed genuinely helpful. The medication was missed resulting in antibiotics being administered. Unsure about monitoring hygiene. Moved rooms several times we were told, mum has dementia. Poor communication between home and relatives. A lot of lost/missing property on discharging mum, including glasses and hearing aids. We were given someone else's medication to bring home. Belongings not treated with respect and some clearly remained unused despite the home requesting them for mum. Rotting food in mums bags which was from the home. Felt totally let down by the system, staff, and authorities. Such a shame.
My dad has been in The Lodge Care Home for almost two weeks. During that time, he has received excellent care. The home is friendly and welcoming, the carers are kind, compassionate and very attentive, nothing is too much trouble for them. They have also been extremely supportive to all the family during this transitional period. The activity coordinator is very engaging. The residents enjoy all aspects of the activities provided. In conclusion, all our family have been very impressed by all aspects of care provided by The Lodge Care Home.
