The staff are very accommodating and lovely to Mum.
My aunt only had 3 months at Abbeydale but even that short time, the staff got to know her really well. They were unfailingly compassionate and loving, always had smiles on their faces. She thoroughly enjoyed the banter she had with all of them. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we felt cared for in the same way in the last few hours of her life. I am so glad we chose Abbeydale and I am sorry my aunt did not have longer with them.
Following a sudden decline in my stepmother's health, my dad joined Abbeydale for a short period of time. During this time, the staff were so supportive of both my dad and my family, making this difficult transition easier to manage. Every member of staff provided the highest standard of care and emotional support and genuinely cared about helping people! The residents there were also very supportive to each other and spoke very fondly of the care they were receiving and the staff looking after them. Myself and my family really cannot thank and praise them enough!
My husband was only in Abbeydale for just over 6 weeks, following a short stay in hospital for blood transfusions. He had been suffering from Prostate Cancer since March 2020 and now required 'end of life care'. Although his brain was still active, his body was shutting down and he was unable to move about unaided. All the team at Abbeydale tried to make him comfortable at all times. We all appreciated his large bedroom with a huge picture window overlooking trees, so at least he could see something from his chair or bed. We thought this very important as he never did leave his room to go downstairs! It was a pleasure to visit knowing this was our private space. My husband took a turn for the worse 5 days before he died and I cannot thank the nurses and staff enough for their palliative care during this very emotional time. I would certainly recommend Abbeydale as a very comfortable and friendly care home where delicious food was served.
Dad was a resident for only a short time but the care and attention from the friendly and cheerful staff were exemplary. Dad required emergency respite and he responded immediately to the care which gave his family quality time with him before his final illness.
Abbeydale provided the highest standard of care to my mother for the last three years of her life. The caring those extended to staff members in every role. Thier attitude to their residents was always encapsulated in the description "understanding, respectful, loving and caring"! Their support to me and other family members when we came to Mum's end of life was exactly the same. We cannot praise them highly enough!
The home is decorated to a high spec and feels cosy. The staff are professional and very friendly. The food was of an excellent standard. There were plenty of activities. The bedroom was personal and overlooked the park. My mum was very happy there.
My father was at Abbeydale for just over a year until passing in June 2024. He was bedbound following a stroke before he arrived at Abbeydale. The carers were exemplary in their respectfulness, kindness and friendliness. The chefs provided tasty meals which Dad very much enjoyed. As a visitor, I was always welcomed and able to visit anytime. Thank you for making Dad's last year pleasant and comfortable.
Thank you for the wonderful care that you gave my husband in his last few weeks. All the staff were amazing, kind and compassionate. Special thanks to the cook and another member of staff, although you were all brilliant.
My mother was at Abbeydale for approx 2 years until her passing in November 2023. The care she received was first class. She was a diabetic so had to be injected because of this her food had to be monitored. Admin staff and nurses kept me informed every week. Activities were every day and the hairdresser came in weekly. My mother called it her home. Many thanks to Abbeydale for all you did.
My partner and I had been caring for my elderly uncle at home for many years although following a hospital admission, it was clear that his diagnosis would be life-changing. He was placed on end-of-life care, we arrived at Abbeydale with the enhanced bed system. Within months he was no longer end of his life and became a full-time resident. This January he sadly passed away, Abbeydale has been able to provide fantastic care and attention. Thank you.
I have been very impressed with the care provided by all the staff at Abbeydale Care Home since my mum went into the home last June (2022). They are unfailingly kind, considerate, professional and engaged. The activities provided, the food and the cosy, homely atmosphere are all excellent. My mum could not wish for better. I thoroughly recommend Abbeydale for being so well-run - for the benefit of the residents!
My husband was admitted on the 4th of July 2023 after suffering a stroke. He also has bowel and lung cancer. I find the staff extremely helpful to me and even my little dog. The care my husband receives is excellent.
Everybody is very kind, caring and helpful. My bedroom is lovely and everywhere is very clean. The food is absolutely great, all home-cooked. I love all the activities and trips out, every day we do something different. I cannot fault Abbeydale Care Home.
When my mother first went into the home, it was anticipated that she would not survive too long, given her illness. She was in the home for five years - a testament to the great care she received, not least of all, through covid. She was always treated with care, gentleness and kindness.
The staff were always very encouraging, friendly, smiling and helpful. Same with the management, from the initial visit home review and during the respite stay. The allocated room was nice, well equipped with a nice outlook. Care is generally very good. The nursing staff were always happy to discuss the resident and update on their general health and day.
The initial reaction is impressive. Abbeydale is a clean fresh home with happy, helpful and caring staff. All involved with Mum's care were professional and kind and nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone.
Wonderful respite care enabled my mother to return to her own home, following nearly a month's critical care in hospital. Caring staff and good food plus comfortable surroundings at Abbeydale played a huge part in Mum's recovery. Thank you.
Mum went to Abbeydale for 2 and a half weeks of respite care. She was very well looked after and I was always made to feel welcome. Lovely, caring staff too. I felt very comfortable leaving her despite my concerns. Very happy with Abbeydale care home.
The standard of care was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble in making Mum comfortable in her final days and everything was carried out in a thoroughly friendly yet professional manner.
