View Full Details of Aspen Court Care HomeOverall my parents are happy and comfortable here. Staff and management listen and in the main help with our concerns. We are informed of any health issues they or the GP may have. The building is very tired and needs attention in particular the bedrooms. We were told a year ago that our parents' room would be decorated especially as they are self-funding. Sometimes a thorough clean wouldn't go amiss.
Excellent care home. Management is very helpful and lovely with my husband. The carer are brilliant with my husband and look after him so well, always smiling and making his life better in a difficult situation because he cannot express himself easily which he gets very frustrated with. Lovely staff. Thank you.
Our experience with Aspen Court was exceptional. Our brother was put here in December 2023 and despite his reluctance found the staff to be exceptional in their care for him. As relatives we found the support to be professional, sympathetic, informative and caring. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful care team.
Thank you to all the nursing, care staff and team who looked after my father. When up to it he enjoyed social activities and in his final days the team were caring and considerate making him comfortable.
My mum was a resident at Aspen Court for just under a month. During this time she deteriorated rapidly. Although she suffered from Alzheimer's the end-of-life care that my mum received was inadequate and no anticipated drug package was available, which resulted in myself and her grandchildren witnessing my lovely mum struggle at the end of her life. During my mum's last few weeks, she suffered from constipation, weight loss, seemed dehydrated and eventually developed a chest infection and pneumonia. Many times I asked if Mum was at the end of life, which was only confirmed four hours before she passed away. The doctor was called but didn't arrive in time to provide drugs to ease her passage. I believe all residents with a terminal illness should have a detailed end-of-life plan in place to reassure the family at a stressful time.
My friend was having a very upsetting and negative experience. I was very pleased though that all the concerns raised were dealt with shortly after being brought to the manager's attention, a lot of promises were made and so far so good, his whole experience there seems so much more positive. I would like to thank the manager for taking positive action and am very happy with the care he is currently receiving, long may it continue.
My mother moved into Aspen Court Care Home in March 2022 for end-of-life care. 12 months on and she is still with us. Thank you to all staff who keep her clean and well and always willing to chat about Mum and have asked about Mum in her younger years. Friendly caring home.
I cannot praise Aspen Court and its carers enough. Mum first arrived at Aspen Court just over 4 years ago on end-of-life care, however, due to the amazing care and love she received, I got to enjoy a further 4 years with her. Mum has received incredible care throughout her residence at Aspen Court and each and every member of staff has been brilliant. The food is wonderful and always made fresh and provided at suitable consistencies to suit each person's need. Mum was sadly mainly on bed nursing but that made no difference to her level of care, she was always treated with the utmost dignity and respect and Carers would sit and talk to her and engage with her, even when not providing care. Sadly Mum lost her fight with Alzheimer's in November 2022. The care Mum received and also that we received, as a family, during this difficult time was brilliant. I was with Mum for her last days and nights and I was looked after as well as any resident. 100% recommend, a great home.
Having to go into care is never easy for anyone, my mum initially went into Aspen Court for respite, due to circumstances, I and Mum chose Aspen Court again after being at home. The staff and management are top-class. I know I can't single any member of staff out, but management is 5-star, the events coordinator and kitchen staff are 5-star, in fact, all staff are 5-star plus. Do not hesitate to choose Aspen Court. They are top-class.
After a long search we found Aspen Court and we knew it was just the place our mum needed. The management and staff are very helpful and friendly. The home is very clean. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum is a changed person since going into Aspen Court. Thank you.
My Father has recently arrived at Aspen Court Care Home and as a family this was a big step for him and the family. From the minute he arrived, it felt so homely all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The facilities are excellent, particularly the conservatory and Garden. My father says the food is lovely and has started eating more. The staff have really listened to my Father about the routine he likes to have throughout the day which is really important to help him maintain a level of independence. We are always made to feel welcome when we visit which is really important. They organise lots of activities for the residents which is really important as the days can be long. I would recommend Aspen Court Care Home to anyone needing care.
I was very hesitant about my husband coming to the home, but I've been pleasantly surprised. From the moment I visited you could feel the calm, friendly atmosphere. He is being really well cared for, all the staff have been welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. He is especially fond of the food which is lovely.
Whilst I was in the care of Aspen Court I was treated amazingly. The staff got me from being bedbound to walking on my own again. The staff were very helpful, anything I asked them to do was no trouble at all. Also, the food was extremely good throughout.
Very friendly, very professional and very happy with dad's care.
My Mum always swore that she would never go into a care home. She came here for recuperation after breaking both her legs - she now doesn't want to leave. She's very happy here and says that the staff are like family. She is very well looked after by all the marvellous staff. It is a very big relief to my sister and I that she is happy and very well looked after. Thank you.
The transition from home was very good. Very good room, personal belongings in the room before arrival, so more like home. Very caring staff who always have time to talk/answering questions. Patient well looked after, clean and comfortable. As the patient has only been here for a short time, he is happy as one can be when away from home.
We visited Aspen Court whilst looking for a nursing home for our elderly mother. We felt Aspen had a nice feeling, we liked the bedroom and wide variety of activities and location was ideal for visiting on the East side of Derby. Mum was admitted on 11th Nov and very poorly but all the staff went out of their way to make Mum and the family welcome. For Mum's 93rd birthday the staff made a lovely birthday cake and helped us celebrate that wonderful achievement. My sister and I found the nursing staff and entire team to be friendly, caring and considerate and helped make our lovely mum's stay to be as comfortable as possible in her final days. Sadly our beloved mum passed away on 23rd. The staff showed enormous compassion and support for which we are most grateful.
I found this establishment to be seriously lacking in 'Customer Care'. I completely understand that my Father was admitted as part of his end of life plan and that my Mother seriously needed some respite from the Care she was providing for him, but his last few days of life were 'tainted' by the extremely unprofessional way in how his death was dealt with. I believe that some of his belongings are still at Aspen Court even though we requested that they were left for collection. There is still a sense of 'non-closure' with respect to my Father's last hours as we have received no feedback/communication whatsoever.
Dad now requires palliative care so it has been a stressful situation for both him and us. Aspen Court Care Home have been excellent both at putting dad and I at ease and making dad feel settled. There are always nurses on hand and doctors visit regularly. The staff have done everything possible for dad's comfort and have treated him with dignity at all times. I would not hesitate to recommend.
Staff very welcoming and caring. Nothing was too much trouble either for Mum or family visiting.
