View Full Details of The Laurels Residential and Nursing HomeThe facility is well-designed and organised so resident so residents can feel at home while still having all the care and support they need. When visiting my uncle I was impressed by the number of staff on duty and their friendly and caring ways. All the staff were very compassionate and helpful to my uncle and the family. Thank you.
The staff look after the residents very well. The food is good and varied. It is always warm and comfortable. The home is well-decorated on the inside but the outside could do with a little attention. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for a family member.
My mother is in very poor health and I was dreading Xmas. Most likely her last Xmas with us and also her first one in a care home. Honestly, the home couldn't have done more to ensure the festivities were filled with love, joy and fun. A member of staff dressed as Santa on the day and me and my sister cried happy tears when he surprised my mum with a visit on the big day. This epitomised the exceptional care my mum receives at the Laurels. The Manager's door is always open and welcoming should I have worries about my mum. What I thought was going to be a sad place to visit has become my happy place, as I make treasured memories.
My mum has been a resident for 3 months. Although she as deteriorated The Laurels and all the staff have been amazing. The level of care she is receiving is exceptional. They all go out of their way for Mum and our family.
My husband is very confused at times. Very well looked after staff answered and questions. Staff show us meals he has.
My mother is receiving fantastic care at The Laurels in Spondon. I am so glad she was placed there as the staff and management are so patient-focused. Also the attitude of the staff promotes a nice atmosphere in the home.
My husband and I live in Scotland, and it has been such a blessing that my mother-in-law was placed in The Laurels. I cannot thank everyone enough. All the different teams work so well together. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is amazing, and bespoke to each patient/person. My mother-in-law has a very rare skin disease, and when she went in needed turning every two hours, it was done with love and care. She is a complex case, with many other problems, but for The Laurels and the team, she is almost ready to go back home. It is because of their diligence and kindness, love and care. We cannot recommend enough.
My dad has been a resident at The Laurels for nearly two years and my mum, sister and I are really happy with his care. The staff are friendly and very supportive. The care home manager has recently helped with securing my dad a permanent place and her support was welcoming.
I am incredibly grateful to have found The Laurels (Derby), where the exceptional care and unwavering dedication provided to Mum one have surpassed all expectations. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted with warmth and compassion by the staff, who have truly become an extended family to us. Their professionalism and genuine concern for the well-being of residents are evident in every interaction. The facilities provide a safe and comfortable environment that feels like home. The attention to detail in creating a homely atmosphere has not gone unnoticed, and it's clear that every aspect of the care home has been designed with the resident's comfort and happiness in mind. What truly sets The Laurels apart, however, is the level of individualized care provided to each resident. The staff take the time to get to know each person on a personal level, tailoring their care plans to meet their unique needs and preferences.
I cannot rate the management and all staff at The Laurels highly enough. My mother is a resident there for end-of-life care, and the care she has received is outstanding. My mother had always said that she would never go to a nursing/care home, but after a few weeks at The Laurels, she said that she "loves this place and the people and that I wish I had come here years ago". All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and after years of worrying about my mother, I can finally relax because she is safe.
Mum has been at The Laurels for three years. In that time she has been well looked after and cared for. She enjoys her meals, her hair appointments (via in-house) and chatting to the staff and residents. Time is spent to make sure she is happy and when needed additional aids have been provided. I have no hesitation in recommending The Laurels.
At the beginning it was a worrying, stressful decision to make, to have to put my dad into a nursing home. The Laurels helped loads with the transition. They were very informative and tentative to my dad's needs. I would highly recommend this nursing home.
The Laurels Residential and Nursing Home cared for my dad in his last days and hours. Following a massive stroke, which happened whilst he was there on respite, he was discharged from the hospital for twenty-four-hour nursing care. The care and attention given to his comfort and well-being were second to none. Family members were also looked after and shown compassion at a very difficult time. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our own well-being was also taken into consideration, we were fed and watered so we could concentrate on spending valuable time with Dad. I could not praise everyone enough, it made a very difficult time more bearable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
My husband came to The Laurels in mid-November 2022 with Parkinson's, very bad mobility and very slight dementia. Whenever I visit, which is often, I find him well cared for. On the whole, myself, daughter and son are happy with The Laurels' care.
A nice comfortable friendly home. Welcomed by the staff. Nothing too much trouble made to feel at ease at visiting times.
My aunt was very nervous on arrival but was soon put at ease. The staff all gave her lots of care and attention and she's now a different person, relaxed and settled. She's made a lot of friends and loves her craft work. I don't need to worry about her as I know she's in good hands and I'm always informed of any problems.
My aunt has resided here for some years. The treatment and atmosphere have been remarkable. She has always been looked after so well. Always clean and perfectly presented. Her stay has been a very happy one.
I moved here with my mum who I lost in August. We were together and we were happy. I am still happy. I catch buses to Denby and Nottingham. I recently joined the library.
My Mum needed more care following a fall. She moved into The Laurels from Cottage Hospital. The Manager, Deputy and all of their staff could not have been more caring or compassionate with my Mum and with us. You walk in the door and are met with smiles and offers of help. These are people people who care. Impressive.
It was very good.
