View Full Details of Shelton Lock Care HomeMy father came for respite care. This was his third visit for respite care. He received a warm welcome and enjoyed his stay and felt very well cared for.
It's a new life style for me at Shelton Lock Care Home. The nurses and carers take very good care of me with my many medication in a cheerful way (often for toiletry needs). They check me hourly 24/7, my clothes are all washed and odd jobs done. The meals I choose are served in the dining room or my room. Some people watch TV together in the lounge, others do craft or games in the craft room, it's a way of meeting people. I like to do jigsaws, read, go in the garden, have visitors, having my hair dressed and then watching evening TV.
Our family are very satisfied with the care and attention given to mum.
My overall experience of the care home is very good. Management are always happy to help with any problem. The care staff work very hard in sometime stressful situations. I know my mum is safe and well cared for when I leave her, that is everything to me. I am thankful to Shelton Lock Care Home. Great team.
I have been very satisfied with my experience, my mother quickly settled in and has now been there for three years. At first she was fairly independent with personal care and and needed help with mobility, as she has become more frail, the staff are very good with providing the extra care that she needs. She enjoyed the activities while she was able to attend.
My relative was so well looked after at Shelton Lock Care Home for the 6 years she was there with nothing being too much trouble. Her personal care was very good despite her being bedridden for several years. Everything I mentioned to staff and the manager was acted on giving love and understanding. When she passed away I was contacted so I could be with her and a member of staff was sitting with her when I arrived. The staff stood by the front door of the care home to say goodbye to her as she left. Because of the way she was treated another family member has now decided to choose Shelton Lock as a place they would move into.
The staff are mainly lovely. The home seems understaffed, why? Lots of agency staff especially nights. The staff need to be paid more! These kinds of care homes are making a lot of money! My mother had 3 days without heat last weekend! The radiator needed bleeding! How difficult is that to sort out? She is paying £1000 a week!
Although my mum was only at Shelton Lock Care Home for just over a week for end-of-life care. From the moment we arrived until the day she passed away the care and warmth shown by every member of staff was amazing. If I need a care home in the future or know of another relative that needs care I would highly recommend Shelton Lock. Thank you to all the team at Shelton Lock Care Home for making her last few days as comfortable as possible for her and for supporting us during this difficult time.
My Mother was admitted for end of life care, she was there for 8 weeks until she passed at the beginning of December. During her stay she was always kept clean, she visited the onsite hairdresser twice a week, her laundry was always returned. The food was excellent. On several occasions we joined her for lunch. The knowledge of the qualified nursing staff was excellent. On mums last days we were kept informed, the staff were sympathetic and understanding, we were supplied with endless tea and biscuits and sandwiches. Special thank you to the team for supporting us as a family that day. Thanks to the rest of the staff who looked after mum. Housekeeping, catering, carers and Management.
My mum was looked after very well, thank you.
Very happy with the care you gave my dad during his two-week respite care after coming out of the hospital with pneumonia for three weeks.
The home is the best I have ever been in! It has such a homely, welcoming atmosphere and is always spotlessly clean. A hot dinner is served every day, which is freshly made by the in-house chef, and my mother-in-law says the meals are always very tasty. The staff are brilliant, so kind and caring and always take such good care of Mum. Mum is as happy as she can be in this home, and that says it all! Thank you, Shelton Lock.
Excellent, caring staff. Well-run care home - approachable management. Very clean home. Regular variety of activities. My mum is very happy here. Thank you to all the staff who care for her; they are all so lovely and kind.
My Mum was with the Shelton Lock Care Home for just over four months for end of life care. We were told she may only last two weeks by the hospital team but she proved them wrong! In those four months. I visited regularly and watched as she received loving care, excellent food, was treated with respect and dignity, enjoyed activities, sat in the wonderful garden, and above all - she was happy (which gave me comfort). I had viewed other nursing homes before choosing Shelton Lock and I am so pleased that we asked them to look after Mum. She thrived for a short while, she was pain free, she was safe, and I knew she was always well cared for by an attentive team. From our family's experience, the facilities, the building, the garden and the services are all equally of a high standard but the one thing that excelled is the people. The management, the nursing team, the carers, the kitchen staff and any other support members were excellent. Thank you Shelton Lock for looking after my Mum!
My mum went into Shelton Lock for what was meant to be two weeks of respite care due to a terminal illness. She was treated terribly the entire time she was there as if she didn't deserve a bed. She lasted 5 days before leaving, due to the poor care she was receiving. During that time she wasn't offered a shower. When she asked when she could get one, or to be shown where it was, it was never the right time. Too early, or too late in the day. The first day there she wasn't given any food. Another day no water. The "meals" were half a sandwich and 4 cheese puffs. Sometimes cold soup if she was lucky. The Sister told her she was lucky, she could talk and walk unlike most people that were in, said in an aggressive tone. I'm sure she feels really lucky with the terminal lung disease that her palliative team says she could pass away from at any moment. This was overhead by a carer who thought it would be a wonderful idea on her next visit to sing "you can talk, you can walk"
Excellent care was provided to our mother. The staff are helpful, friendly and caring. Very professional and efficient, and standards are high. Recommended without hesitation. Our mother was treated with dignity and respect always.
I am more than satisfied by the way my aunt has been looked after at Shelton Lock over the last five and a half years. I am particularly happy with the "end-of-life" care provided for her. The staff have been caring and thoughtful and very supportive to me too.
My dad originally went into Shelton Lock for respite care, but unfortunately, he deteriorated and sadly passed away. Whilst in the care home, he was treated very well, and all his needs were attended to. He was treated with dignity throughout and was treated with the utmost respect when he passed. I cannot thank the staff enough.
We were given a short list of homes to look at for Dad. Shelton Lock was the first we looked at. We were greeted politely and friendly. We were shown around and all the facilities were explained to us. The rooms looked really nice. We went on to visit five more homes, but we'd already took a shine to Shelton lock and went back for a second visit. Dad's been there five weeks now and he's told us he feels happy and content. He's eating better and looking brighter. He's even managed to go into the garden in a special chair that the staff were only too glad to organise. It was a lovely afternoon, Dad enjoyed it so much and remembers it fondly. It was a big ask because Dad has been house and bed bound for nearly two years, but with the staff's help, he felt the fresh air.
The staff are very kind and caring towards my brother. They treat him with dignity and respect. They have arranged for medical and medication reviews in a timely manner. They don’t only look after my brother, but they also look after me, providing all information about my brother's care and discussing changes to his care plan. Always on hand to provide a much-needed coffee!
