View Full Details of Devonshire CourtIt was a difficult decision to put my dad into full time care but the staff at Devonshire court have been supportive and understanding. The care staff on my dads wing are amazing he loves them all and he get the most incredible one on one care that anyone could ask for. I cannot express how grateful my brother and I are for everyone at Devonshire court. A burden has been lifted and we know about all else my dad is getting the best care possible.
When I was discharged from the hospital on 28th May, I was unable to return home and I needed to find temporary accommodation with disabled facilities due to my reduced mobility. From the moment I arrived at Devonshire Court, I was overwhelmed by the warmth of the welcome I received from all of the staff there. I was assigned a spacious and comfortable room with television and en-suite facilities and my every request was cheerfully accommodated, even to the extent of the provision of ice for my nightly dram of whisky! The food was good and varied and much more comparable to a private hotel than one's preconceived idea of care-home catering and I was even permitted to bring in my own bottle of wine to the dinner table! There was a comprehensive programme of entertainment - often accompanied by a welcome glass of sherry or a G&T - and I found the other residents pleasant and friendly. I would have no hesitation in returning to Devonshire Court myself or recommending it to others.
Our father became a resident at Devonshire Court 5 1/2 years ago and passed away there in March this year. He had always known this was where he would want to be when the time came should he need assisted care, but was always reluctant to acknowledge the moment, thinking this would mark the beginning of his decline! It could not have been more different. From day one our father thrived at Devonshire. He was treated with love, care and dignity at all times and my sister and I were grateful to know he was safe and warm and fed but most importantly happy. It takes a team led from the top to provide the client-centred care needed for all the residents. When I say team, I mean everyone who contributes to Devonshire life on a day-to-day basis, from the carers providing personal care, the catering team making fresh meals, to the housekeepers keeping everywhere clean, to the laundry, and the activities team who keep everyone occupied and make everything fun! Thank you all!
My mother came to Devonshire Court initially for a few weeks respite care while she recovered from a heart attack. She then suffered a second heart attack which led to her becoming a permanent resident. There then followed a series of more attacks and finally a stroke. She was a resident from September to February and during that time she received excellent loving care from an attentive staff, in a clean and warm room. Nothing was too much trouble and her family were welcomed and given free reign to make hot drinks in the kitchen while spending many hours with Mother. We especially loved the free ice creams that Mum, the grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoyed from the freezer in reception. Such a little thing meant so much. Brilliant is not too big a word to use in my review.
My mum was having falls and was diagnosed with dementia, so as a family, we chose Devonshire Court to keep her safe. She was only there a short time but the staff were excellent and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The home itself is lovely and clean with activities on every day for the residents. I would highly recommend this home. If Mum had to go back into a care home would definitely choose Devonshire Court again.
As a family, we needed to move my uncle into a care home in Leicestershire, and as a district nurse I immediately looked for care homes rated excellent by the CQC, of which Devonshire Court is only one of two. From my first contact with the care home, I could see that person-centred care was an ethos that ran throughout the home. My uncle's needs were understood and despite not being a Mason he was accepted as a resident. Throughout his relatively short stay of just a few months before he died, he was cared for by staff who truly understood person-centred care. He was treated with dignity and was always clean and shaved as if he could have still cared for himself. I can only say thank you to every member of the care team and administration team who made this time so much easier than it might have been elsewhere. I would have no hesitation in recommending Devonshire Court to others looking for a truly caring place for their family members.
The environment is welcoming with many lovely extras. Pets that live here and visiting dogs made welcome too. The hospitality offered to visiting family and friends makes for frequent returns. Ice cream very welcome. All carers good but some show true vocation. I can rest knowing Mum is as safe as can be. They go out of their way to supply all her requests.
I think the care home is a credit to the management and staff for all the residents that I meet are so very happy with their life at the home. The food that they receive is good and they are very happy with the activities that are provided.
The staff at Devonshire Court are carers in the truest sense. My Mother lived there for the last few months of her life having been an independent lady living in her own home until a few months after her 99th Birthday. The detail and consideration put into making her feel secure and the acknowledgement of who she was as a person is phenomenal. Her dignity and identity were respected and the attention and love she was shown during a challenging part of her life was humbling to witness. I am forever indebted to all the staff. Thank you
My mum has been a resident in Devonshire Court for four years. The staff are very good. My mum is always well looked after. I feel that communication is lacking between myself and either management and senior staff. Some of the rooms need a deep clean, redecoration and new furniture. The activities are excellent.
My dad moved to Devonshire Court last August. He is absolutely 100% in the best home possible. I am really impressed with it and I can only reiterate a lot of what has been said in other reviews. The staff are very kind and caring and are obviously dedicated to providing the best quality of care and well-being for each and every resident. My dad is a joker and loves the banter he has with all of his carers, it makes his day. To me, everybody treats the residents like they are their own family. The home itself is large, excellently maintained and provides many facilities which are sadly lacking in most care homes. There is a hairdresser, cinema, large entertainment lounge and the bedrooms are nice and big and it is very clean throughout. Activities provided are many and varied, all well planned and thought out to give maximum enjoyment to all participants. Obviously, I would have no hesitation in recommending Devonshire Court!
Found this to be a very friendly and pleasant environment to be in. The staff are always very helpful and welcoming. The care given to our friend is very good.
Every time we visit we are made very welcome and it is a delight. The staff are great. I have visited many care homes over the years and they can't compare with Devonshire Court Care Home. The care given to our friend is great.
Incredibly impressed with Devonshire Court Care Home. Mother-in-law has just taken up permanent residency and the staff and team could not have been more helpful throughout the process. Everyone we encountered from the management team, nursing care team, entertainment team, facilities and cleaning teams have been really great and very friendly. It has put our minds at rest to know that she is in the hands of wonderfully dedicated staff whose priority is purely the residents well being and quality of life. The home itself is very large and really well maintained. There is a hairdressers, cinema, large entertainment lounge and the bedrooms seem very nicely appointed and clean. The weekly activity list is very comprehensive with regular trips to the theatre, shops and garden centres, when the weather improves. Thanks to Devonshire Court for all your help and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone reading this review.
My nan has been in this home for two weeks, and her quality of life has improved already. She now smiles a lot. The staff are all really welcoming and lovely. We have been made to feel very welcome.
I was recommended to this care home by a fellow freemason. I have not been disappointed. The first priority is to the resident. Well-being and security are of paramount importance as are nutrition and timeliness. Staff go out of their way to ensure that residents are stimulated and well cared for.
Enjoyed my stay. Staff help is exceptional.
Look no further than Devonshire Court, overall outstanding on the CQC report which is difficult to find. My mother reluctantly moved into care just over two years ago during Covid. she moved into Devonshire Court late 2021 it was her third care home! Although Mum has found it difficult to settle. The family have no doubt she is receiving the best possible care, now Mum appreciated fully she couldn't do without her wonderful carers, that's a great comfort to the family. Mum has just celebrated her 100th birthday and Devonshire Court went above and beyond to ensure Mum and the family has an unforgettable experience even organising a Frank Sinatra tribute act dedicated to her. We feel extremely lucky that Mum was welcomed into Devonshire Court.
My stay at Devonshire Court has been a wonderful experience. The support and kindness shown to me have been fantastic. Everyone has been so helpful and kind and nothing is too much trouble. The dedication of all the staff is to be admired. I will look back on my stay at Devonshire Court with gratitude and appreciation.
My dad has been in the home for nearly a year and even with vascular dementia has gotten physically and mentally better since being here. He has put on weight and is happier than I have seen him for a number of years. The staff are fabulous with him and he is really well cared for. He fell regularly in his last home and has not done so at all here due to the excellent care. Thank you, it is wonderful to have my dad back thanks to your care for him.
