View Full Details of Barchester Cedars Care Home (Bourne)My wife had Glioblastoma and was bed bound for the whole of her 7 month stay at the Cedars. The care she received was first class throughout. We could not fault it at all. Not only were her carers fantastic but the nurses as well. Although she was unable to speak very much, the staff became expert in anticipating her every need. She was so grateful to all the staff as I was together with family members. Nothing more could have been done to make her life better. Thank you so much.
I really appreciated all the help and care I was given during my stay by everyone. The staff were always so pleasant and kind in speech and actions. I will always remember them all after such a pleasant experience.
Welcomed from the first time of visiting. Excellent place and great staff. Very well run. Caring staff, always available to help with questions you may have.
From the first moment I contacted Barchester The Cedars and spoke to the manager, I knew this was somewhere special. We moved my mother-in-law into the Cedars in October and everyone we have come into contact with (staff members) have been so kind and thoughtful about how to make my mother in law feel welcome and settled.
The great strength of The Cedars is your staff. They are always friendly, enthusiastic, caring and professional. My Mum is very fond of them and they make her feel cared about and safe. Her family are extremely grateful for this. The Cedars is always clean and tidy and free from the usual Residential home smells. Ideas from the family. During many visits to Cedars, we have seen residents confused about where they are and where their room is. Other Care facilities I've visited overcome this by distinguishing the corridors using a different colour palette or by theming the artwork along each corridor. In these places, I have also seen Resident's room doors with a pinboard or similar on them where names, photographs, grandchildren's artwork, etc can be placed so Residents find it easier to locate their room. My Mum and her friends also moan about the artwork on the walls. They enjoy the art and imagery from the local area which spark memories and the retelling of them. But for the rest they describe it as dull and pointless. Perhaps more local photos, artwork created by the residents or local artists, colourful scenes of nature and wildlife? My nieces visited my Mum recently and described the interior as 'like walking into a hotel'.
I moved in in March, was very emotional, scared but from the start, all staff were wonderful, supportive, caring, understanding and professional. I have now settled, staff are still the above and we have a wonderful rapport but I find are aware and always seem to nothing anything out of the ordinary and check up on me. The medical team have worked so hard to sort out issues and I definitely feel in better health than before I came here. The entertainment is varied, some brilliant, some not for me but they are not just catering for me. I have a wonderful, big room and wet room but I do see some of the other rooms, they are small and poorly decorated and claustrophobic. I find the food portions small and I have been told to ask for more but a bit reticent. Maybe they should ask when serving. Also, for me, far too many chips, would welcome an alternative to chips.
The service from all departments at Barchester The Cedars Care Home has been exceptional - nothing is too much trouble. My mum is so happy there and is treated really well. The food is fantastic. Congratulations to all.
A quality care home! I was initially impressed by the fabric of this care home. The interior of the building is attractive and well-maintained, and the residents' rooms are very pleasant. The whole atmosphere was far more pleasant than in other care homes I have visited. The beautiful gardens by the river are worthy of a mention too! However, the most impressive aspect was the attitude of all the staff. They were so welcoming and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. They went to great lengths to make my aunt feel at home, and I cannot thank them enough for trying so hard in the face of much opposition.
Who wants to give up their freedom, roots? 100 miles from friends, Mum was nervous, scared. Staff were caring, understanding, fun but professional. She settled quickly, she is happy and so much healthier. I'm confident she has the best care possible. Thank you. Rooms: Mum's is excellent, others are poor.
My Mum has been on respite care for 2 weeks. Mum was feeling very unwell and was in desperate need of nursing care. The General Manager, came out to the house at short notice to assess Mum and reassured us that The Cedars could help by monitoring and assessing her medication and supporting her with 24-hour care. They also picked up that Mum had a water infection and sought the appropriate treatment immediately. We cannot thank them enough for all the care and compassion they have delivered. It is not to be understated how much confidence and peace of mind we have gained as a family knowing Mum was in exactly the best place possible. A huge thank you to the manager and all her fabulous team.
My wife was cared for diligently and well by carers who were friendly, helpful and treated her with sensitivity, respect and kindness. The reception area, during my daily visits, was always a welcoming space with friendly conversation. Residents spending time in the reception/lounge area were treated very kindly and supportive, with a 'family' feel. The general manager was also supportive and kind to me. Nursing care was particularly good.
My nan has great care so far, would like to go outside and do some activities. My nan says "like a posh hotel." Great staff - friendly and caring.
The staff, the meals and activities are excellent. Very good welcome and introduction. Unfortunately, the overall experience let them down due to what we considered a lack of attention to detail in the room. Silly things that should have been checked prior to admittance - the pull cord on the bed light broken, and could not be reached, no plug in the basin. The remote control only worked if standing directly in front of the TV. Maybe needed new batteries or just poor quality? The remote was sellotaped which added to the air of being a "used room" as did the hole in the bathroom door! Very annoying constant sound of (assumed) call alarms - never quiet when we visited, not an impressive 1st impression for despite care - assumed would be better.
All the staff were excellent looking after my auntie in her last few weeks. They were so loving and caring, couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you all at Barchester The Cedards.
This is an amazing care home, the manager and all her staff are so caring and do everything to make the residents happy and contented. My friend has been so well cared for. I would recommend Cedars Care Home for anyone requiring full-time or respite care.
From the minute we knocked on the door (unannounced) at The Cedars, I felt a weight had been lifted. My mother is there for respite (and possibly longer) care. The transfer from the hospital to The Cedars was seamless. The home has such a warm, welcoming and open feel to it. I feel the staff go "the extra mile" and I have nothing but praise and respect for them. It's early days for my mother but I do feel happy and reassured that she is in very safe hands. Thank you to the manager and all your fabulous staff.
The care given to my father whilst he was at The Cedars Care Home, was excellent. From the moment that he was admitted to the home, to when he left, which was sadly due to deterioration in his health, was of a very high standard. The manager of the home assisted me and my sister throughout to ensure that he was cared for and that his wishes were met. The staff were all professional in carrying out their duties and they would communicate with me as deemed necessary, particularly when he became ill. I highly recommend this nursing home and would not hesitate to send any relative there again.
My sister became a resident when she was discharged from hospital after having a broken hip operation. She also suffers from dementia and other problems needing careful on-going medication. She is receiving excellent care and shown kindness and compassion by all of the members of staff involved in her day-to-day life.
Barchester The Cedars Care Home provided my stepfather with kind and compassionate care in the final two weeks of his life. At the age of 90, he was given respect and a safe and secure environment following a traumatic stay in hospital prior to his arrival at The Cedars. I cannot praise the manager and all her staff highly enough and wish to convey my thanks to them all for all their patience and kindness.
My sister-in-law has resided at Cedars for just over a year. She settled quite quickly, is very happy and healthy. This is a tribute to the wonderful staff at Cedars. at all levels. I would recommend Cedars to anyone who is looking for a quality care home, quality in every sense.
