View Full Details of Hunter's Creek Nursing HomeMum lived with dementia for too many years, 8 of those years were spent at Hunters Creek. Mum was well cared for at the home, by staff that liked her and even loved her. Food was nutritious, the environment and her room were regularly cleaned. Staff were friendly and chatty, whilst mum was able to partake, various daily activities were available including live entertainment. During mum's final days, the staff really stepped up. The loving care they showed mum was touching. The support they offered me was invaluable. I'll miss my regular visits. Thank you Hunters Creek.
Mum has been a resident at Hunters Creek for just over a year. She has quite advanced dementia and displayed really challenging behaviour when she arrived. Hunters Creek staff took it all in their stride. I have never sensed any impatience or irritation from any of the care staff. Mum settled down eventually and seems content with life for the first time in at least 5 years. Her weight has stopped dropping. She is no longer anxious, distressed, angry or aggressive. Nor is she sedated. Hunters Creek staff know her by name and any one of them that I have asked has been able to update me immediately as to how she is. This is a large care home with numerous residents. It suits Mum far better than the smaller one she came from. The opportunity for social interaction is greater but Mum can choose to withdraw to her own space when she wants. I am very impressed with the balanced care and attention she has received.
Most of the time happy with all aspects of the care home. Wish the communication between staff should be better. Also a handover between shifts could be better.
My partner was in this home for respite. He was put on to the dementia floor. There he lost most of his clothes. I found him wearing someone else's clothes. I had taken his clothes in labelled with his name, but they still went missing, coat, shoes and finally his toiletries bag and glasses all gone missing. So he had not shaved in days because he had no means to do so. All his washing soap etc. had gone. When I mentioned this to the staff many times nothing got sorted. I did try to find his glasses myself and looked all over for his toiletries bag but nothing happened to turn up. I then found a plastic bag with dirty clothes in e.g. dirty pants covered in poo, which I took home and disposed of.
All I can say is that this place was chaotic. My partner did not receive good quality care and £££s worth of his belongings went missing. The place stank and our shoes stuck to the floor every time we visited.
My dad has Alzheimer's and is cared for by Hunter's Creek. Each time I visit, I am so impressed by the care given to him. Many of the carers have spoken to me about him - they are warm, knowledgeable and know him well. Last time I visited, he was dressed in his Wolves top, ready to hear about the day's football matches. We have experience at another care home and this one surpasses that in every single way. It is the carers and nurses who make this place.
I can't fault any aspect of Hunters Creek. My dad spent the last few days of his life there on palliative care. All the staff were amazing, so kind and caring. My dad was treated with dignity and respect right up to the end. We, his family, were given so much support. We were kept informed on every aspect of his health and care. I really can't thank them enough.
Well I am moving out of here. I have been here 2 1/2 years now. I have not had a good Christmas in here, management has spoiled them both. The careers are 100%, put us residents first priority, the hk, chefs, nurses, senior nurses and the one female floor manageress and the under manageress are absolutely brilliant and outstanding. They are all too good to work here, they get no respect or appreciation from the CEO, manageress, the male floor manager and all the visitors that have put a review on here don't see what goes on after they leave. They think their love ones are being cared for properly but they are not, I wouldn't class this place as good as a pet cemetery. If you have a loved one that needs care please don't let social services adult care talk you into letting a family member here. I can't speak for all Tanglewood care homes apart from Hunters Creek and the one at Spalding. The food in here is great if you're not diabetic. Tea time it's all cheesecake or pastries, nothing at all for diabetic people.
My father sadly died at the end of last month after spending sixteen months at Hunter's Creek Nursing Home. He was admitted from hospital after being treated for sepsis and he was suffering from dementia. I was very happy with his care. The room was pleasant, always clean and looked onto the garden. The staff were excellent, a variety of ages, lots of young people, always attentive, if you asked them to do something for my dad, it was clear they were fond of him and knew his particular needs. The manner of his passing was dealt with great compassion. The activities organised, very good.
My mum spent what turned out to be the last 3 months of her life here May - September 2022. Our family never wanted to put her in a care home but her dementia made it unsafe for her to stay at home any longer. We knew as soon as we visited Hunters Creek it was the right place for her. The facilities, activities and atmosphere were just what we wanted. I had visions of her sitting in her room all by herself in a care home but it soon became clear this was not going to be the case. The staff were fantastic to mum and always available to us to discuss our concerns, they even offered to feed us if we were there at mealtime. It's taken me a while to write this review butI will always be grateful to all the staff and some of the other relatives for their support and a shoulder to cry on. Far from being a sad place, the atmosphere was wonderful and Mum was convinced she'd lived there for years. We still miss her desperately but thanks to Hunters Creek staff she had a wonderful last 3 months.
Thanks to all the staff at Hunter's Creek for all the outstanding care they have given my mum, she has settled in well. The management have been very helpful and supportive. We would certainly recommend it.
I don’t know how to put into words what I feel about this amazing group of people. My mum has dementia and has been through a lot in 6 years passed from pillar to post, along the way we met some amazing people and some not so amazing. This care home is the most amazing, the staff are amazing, the managers are amazing, we feel like family, not service users. There have been some ups and downs, but the manager and staff have sorted everything as effectively and efficiently as possible. My mum is the happiest and most settled she has ever been. You can tell even though my mum can not speak for herself how much she loves the staff. It’s great to see and peace of mind to know she is very well cared for even when she is being a 'bit too much'. They are so patient with her, and all staff are amazing but some are exceptional. I can’t thank this care home enough for what they do for Mum and I will never be able to show them the gratitude they deserve. Thank you, you’re all amazing!
My wife came in with frontotemporal dementia in August 2023. The management, carers and all the staff are helpful and supportive. The rooms are clean and tidy, there are nice areas for my wife to sit and relax. I would highly recommend this home.
I can't thank the staff enough for the outstanding care they gave my mother during her 3-week stay. She was often in a lot of pain and had dietary issues but the compassion and consideration given by all staff was above and beyond. I would not hesitate to recommend the home. Thank you once again.
I am gladdened of heart to see that my wife continues to be cared for with tenderness and dignity by all members of staff despite the many difficulties she presents. I am sure, also, that all non-residents are able to sleep soundly in the knowledge that their loved ones are kept safe and secure 24 hours every day.
My dad really didn't want to lose his independence and move into a care home, but the team at Hunters Creek convinced him that it was a positive move. They were so kind and caring, everyone would pop in and chat with him during the course of the day. Following his admission to hospital for a few days, he said that he was so glad to be back at home with his friends. At Hunters Creek he really appreciated all the things the care team did for him. When he lost his appetite, the team would make him special treats to try to tempt his appetite and bought ring doughnuts regularly for him as he loved them! My father lived in Hunters Creek from Feb 2023 until he passed away peacefully there in October 2023 and the whole family is grateful that his last few months were eased by the care team. There was always someone available to talk to any of the family about concerns or issues and we're thankful that we chose Hunters Creek for our father's last months.
Overall a good nursing home. Two things let them down. They always seem to be short-staffed. They rely on pads instead of taking residents to the toilet regularly. The staff that are there are kind and friendly.
Everyone who I came into contact with, the carers, housekeeping, cleaners, kitchen staff, laundry, reception team, activities coordinators and management were very friendly and easy to talk to, if you needed help the staff were there for you and the food was lovely as well. They are wonderful friendly people who enjoy their jobs. They’ve helped me with my mental health which has been very good. I would most definitely recommend this care home to anyone who asked. If you needed to chat the staff would make time to do that which is lovely and thoughtful and kind.
I'm not able to visit my nan a lot due to distance but I was invited to the Summer Fete that Hunters Creek put together and it was fantastic. I also won four bottles of wine on the Tombola! I had a fantastic time and so many others did as well, including my nan. However, one thing I did notice whilst I was there was the stained carpets, which did let it down a little, but was reassured that they are going to be changed. Besides this, the lovely atmosphere which was created by the staff and the smile on my nan's face, along with the other clients, made my day. The visiting experience, not only for this event, but in general, was fantastic. Thank you Hunters Creek!
Mum sadly passed away in April, after being in Hunter's Creek Nursing Home since 2015. Cannot fault the care she received. Always received a phone call if there was a problem or Mum was ill. Staff always friendly and supportive of both Mum and myself. Reception staff always cheerful and approachable - always there with kind words and tissues! Entertainment staff very good when Mum was able to join in - she loved her music and dancing. All Staff very respectful, especially over Mum’s last few months. Hats off to you all, you do a great job! Thank you!
