View Full Details of Barchester Newton House Care HomeStaff were extremely friendly, welcoming and very helpful. There was a wide range of activities daily to suit varying interests and abilities available for residents to attend if they wanted to, staff did try and encourage this. According to my mother the food was exceptional, she enjoyed every meal. Her room was always clean and tidy as were the lounges that I went into and corridors. All in all a very pleasant experience, my mother enjoyed her stay. Thank you to a hard working dedicated staff team.
From the moment I walked in the doors, we were greeted by lovely staff. The home smelt nice and the furnishings are cosy. Mum said the meals were so good with plenty of variety each day. The one thing that stood out for me was the Entertainment. Absolutely outstanding and much fun. The staff are amazing. Newton House has restored my faith in Care Homes. 5*.
I have been very happy with the care that Mum has received since moving into Barchester Newton House Care Home. She says the majority of staff are very patient and kind and she feels safe there. The activity team have been amazing in ensuring that she has felt included as much as possible, even though she is profoundly deaf and stays mostly in her room. They supported her wish to visit a garden centre and have got to know her hobbies and interests and help her communicate using a whiteboard. They have been incredibly supportive and understanding when I was anxious about going away and she told me their visits and hugs made her day, they are so patient and caring with the biggest smiles. I have been to many care homes and this is definitely one of the best. It has a very welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in, can highly recommend it.
My mother, sadly, passed away in November after spending more than three and a half years at Barchester Newton House Care Home, it was a difficult decision to put Mum in a home but we couldn't have found a more loving and compassionate place for her to spend her last years. Dementia is a cruel illness that robs the relatives of the person they once knew but to see your loved one happy and content in their world surrounded by such loving, caring professionals is, without doubt, the best care and attention we could have given Mum. The time we spent with her in the home was precious, she was always treated with the utmost respect and given the dignity every person should receive. We couldn't speak more highly of all the staff. The decision-making is hard but if you truly care for your loved one and are in need of a care home, look no further, there is nowhere better. All the staff actually care. Our grateful thanks for looking after Mum.
Went along to join in the sing-song followed by pin the nose on the snowman (blindfolded, of course). The whole time was enjoyed by everyone there, judging by the smiles. Although I am not a resident myself, I can honestly say, I enjoyed myself too. I find, on every visit, the atmosphere is a happy one and staff are really helpful and kind. My husband says meals are lovely too. A big thank you to everyone.
Our dad spent six weeks in Barchester Newton House Care Home. He was so happy there. The staff were loving and caring right up to the very end. They allowed him to keep his dignity which was so important to both him and us. Not only did they care so well for Dad but they looked after us all too. We could never thank you all enough.
My husband was a resident in Barchester Newton House Care Home from September 2023 to February 2024. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and support that they provided him. They engaged with him and really turned a corner with him. He started interacting with other residents and joined in with the wonderful activities provided. He even started smiling again and regained some of his personality. Something I hadn't seen for a very long time. Thank you to all at Newton House for making the last few months of his life special.
The home provides amazing care for my mum, she is happy and content which is all credit to the staff at the home and the care and support they provide. They are also welcoming when visiting and keep us well-informed. The activity team there are brilliant, providing a full activity calendar with the staff always doing it with such enthusiasm and energy. It is so reassuring to know that Mum is in a home that provides her with the support she needs whilst also encouraging her to keep as much independence as possible and still get the most out of every day.
My husband has been a resident at Barchester Newton House Care Home for five months now and during that time, he has received the best care. The staff are the backbone of Newton House and are very caring and compassionate. The activities team give their all to ensure all the residents are made to feel special.
All good.
The staff at Barchester Newton House Care Home are all wonderful, from the manager down to the cleaning staff. Mum received excellent care during her stay there, the staff were friendly and made her feel at ease and she loved the bird table provided by the activity team. And then when my mum suddenly passed away recently, they couldn't have been more caring and supportive, I am so grateful.
Staff within this home are on hand 24 hours a day... nothing is too much for them always wanting to help... also the care they provide is amazing... every care need is met... lovely atmosphere too... activities are awesome too keeps the residents social and using skills they wouldn't if home alone.
We are very impressed with the quality of care that Mum receives at Newton House. She was bed-bound and quite poorly when she arrived here 4 months ago but now she is mobile again and is joining in with lots of the activities that are arranged on a daily basis. The “activities team” are brilliant, always putting their heart and soul into everything ~ today is World Bee Day and they are all dressed up as bees! There are also gardens that residents can spend time in whenever they want to. Mum also loves the food, which is very good quality. The nurses and carers are all very kind, caring and attentive. My dad visits Mum every day and is always made very welcome, he joins Mum in most of the activities and can eat lunch every day with her too. We feel that the excellent care Mum gets here has contributed to her amazing improvement.
We are very happy with the service provided by Newton House. After an experience with another home that was simply not geared up to deal with the challenges of dementia, we have been so happy and relieved to find Newton House. The staff provide caring and professional help for all aspects of my mum’s needs. At times her behaviour can be very challenging but they deal with it effectively and reassuringly. The regular activities are excellent and my mum really enjoys them. They are well organised and everyone seems to have a great time. Thank you very much for the support you have given to my mum and our family.
Overall I can’t fault the care home. The care team are very good, and some really do go above and beyond which has been lovely. The ward nurses we have seen have been good apart from a couple of occasions we have had issues with meds which have really disrupted mum’s pain when there’s been no need for it to be delayed, but discussions about these times have been dealt with. The night team was fantastic! The entertainment team, mum is bed-bound and hasn’t joined in much, but their visits to her room and interaction with us as a family have been fantastic, asking if I’m ok always happy to chat with us. Same with the front desk staff as I visit every day I’m always greeted every morning and again always asked if I need anything, despite being here every day. The cleaning staff are great, sorting flowers and one always cleans mum room before I get there so she’s not calling in when I’m there, she always asks how we all are too. Overall the care home is somewhere I would recommend to anyone and have.
My brother has respite care at present, but am aware that full-time care for his dementia will be needed. All the staff, without exception, are always welcoming on our arrival and happy to settle him with a cuppa. There is always plenty of staff around, without lots of activities should he wish to join in. Although it will be a sad day for me when he becomes a full-time resident, he will be well looked after.
My dad has moved across the county and this, in turn, has caused a lot of upset for him but all the staff from the general manager down have worked so hard to make this transition as comfortable as possible. Nothing has been too much trouble and even with advanced dementia, my dad will say how happy he is and how much he likes living at Barchester Newton House Care Home. As a family, we want to say thank you!
I find the care and staff outstanding and I would recommend Newton House. My Dad is very happy and well looked after. The food is amazing. Thank you for all you do.
A nice home with a fantastic range of activities for residents. The staff are absolutely lovely, fun and above all, genuinely caring. They go the extra mile to create a welcoming environment that caters for a range of needs.
I am rest assured that my mother receives the best attention and care. The team are truly dedicated and works tirelessly to ensure my mother's needs are met. Should anything change or an incident occur we are informed straight away.
