View Full Details of Howson Care CentreSince my dad has been in the care home, the staff have been very supportive and helpful with all our queries. Informed us of any incidents he has been in. Open day for family and friends was catered for, eg residents and visitors.
Amazing team putting not along the resident's needs at the heart of everything but also the staff. I absolutely love working here. I feel I am learning something new every day. The clients receive the best care along with amazing home cooked meals and various daily activities.
My partner has been at Howsons for just over a year. It is brilliant. He had been in 3 care homes prior, the last two being abysmal. He left Nocton Cottage weighing 8.5 stone and looked at death's door. He had three weeks at Bunkers Hill where he developed the worst oedema I had seen and the nurse did not know anything about it and then he fractured his hip and it took neatly five hours for them to call an ambulance! A year later, he weighs over 11.5 stone, they have cleared up the sores on his legs and feet and he looks it he best of health apart from his Alzheimer's. They never know when I am coming to visit but he is always clean, well dressed, shaven, hair cut and they even do his ears - the only home that would. The staff are lovely, seem to genuinely care and I no longer worry about him. The awful thing is that the Quality Care Commission did not give it a good review and I was reluctant for him to go there but, as he was difficult, no one else would have him. What do the Care commission know. When I made complaints about one of the other homes, they were not interested. He actually seems happy and I am so glad he is at Howsons.
