View Full Details of Barchester Wood Grange Care HomeAll staff at wood grange were absolutely wonderful with my dad when he was living there. He looked forward to them popping in to see him throughout the day as he was bedridden, so they all made sure to take time out of their busy days just to nip into his room and say hello. They became like his second family. The staff always kept us informed and were so kind to us. Fantastic people!
My mum stayed at Barchester Wood Grange Care Home for nine nights of respite care. It was the first time she had been away from her own home for care of this sort. All the staff were amazing with her, very patient and attentive and encouraged her to join in with the daily activities, such as painting and drawing. She loved to people-watch, chat to visitors and interact with fellow residents. Family and friends who visited said what a good place it was for her and how the staff were very helpful and informative.
Mum was bedbound, had severe dementia and on end-of-life care. On first contact with Barchester Wood Grange Care Home, they appreciated the urgency of her situation and within three days, Mum had an assessment in her own home, transport arranged and moved in. From the first evening until her last breath, Mum was cared for in a very loving and caring atmosphere. The home itself is tastefully decorated to give a friendly, homely feel. Every aspect of Mum's care needs was more than met and our family was impressed how quickly Mum settled into her new home. Mum's world could have shrunk to just her room but much effort was made to help her participate in activities, including group quiz and visit the lounge and garden when possible. Sometimes, activities were taken to her and she often had her nails and hair done. The staff were amazing, thoughtful and kind not only to Mum but to any family and friends visiting, always making sure there were seats to sit on and a cuppa to be had. We can't thank them enough.
I have had a very pleasant stay, the staff have been very kind and caring. When the time arrives that I need permanent care, I would certainly consider coming back.
Wood Grange Care Home have looked after both my dad and currently my mum. All the staff are second to none, so caring and professional. My dad’s first stay at Wood Grange was prior to COVID and when my mum needed extra care and support last year, we chose Wood Grange again. What was so lovely and I think speaks volumes, was the majority of the staff were still at the care home who had been there in 2019. Wood Grange has a homely/family feel and staff are always so welcoming each time you visit. They have a great variety of activities for the residents to participate in: live music, games, gardening club, scrapbooking, quizzes, and bingo to name just a few. They also welcome dogs to visit, and many of the residents really benefit from this. I would without a doubt recommend Wood Grange to friends and family, thank you for all you do.
Wonderful staff - looked after my mother with dedication, kindness and dignity, plus humour. Nothing about the care or quote location could be better.
Since arriving in September, my father has received such good care. His health, physically, has improved immensely. Whilst his mental capacity is reducing, Barchester Wood Grange Care Home is able to advise and offer practical help to make his "journey" as safe and comfortable as possible.
My sister enjoyed her time with you all, she did not do any activities. The meals very good.
What a difference Barchester Wood Grange Care Home has made to Mum! She is so much happier thanks to the amazing staff, carers and activities coordinators, She is joining in with the activities, with particular mention to the excellent Caribbean afternoon, the indoor golf, flower arranging and the church services. She loves to sit in the well-kept garden which has looked so lovely during the summer months. We had to make the difficult decision to move her in May and are 100% happy with our choice of residence. Thank you to all involved in her care.
My father came for respite in the summer of 2022 for a few weeks but it became necessary to admit him permanently from November 2022 until his death in August 2023. His religious beliefs were respected and supported. I found the staff to be professional but what I appreciated particularly is that they genuinely cared for him, some cried when he died. I am so grateful he spent his final months there because he was happy.
My mother is a resident at Barchester Wood Grange Care Home for 3 years, on 4/8/2023 she turned 90. The room was decorated beautifully. We had booked afternoon tea. The kitchen staff had prepared a beautiful display for mum, myself and family that travelled from near and far. All the staff were wishing Mum happy birthday. They made a beautiful cake and all sang to her. It was loved and a wonderful time to remember in the future.
Excellent care home, with very good staff.
The care staff on Memory Lane are brilliant and so dedicated to the residents and to family. I think they should be paid more money.
The staff at the home have been so kind and accommodating to my dad. He moved from another home where he had not been happiest. Within 10 days his whole personality had reverted back to his old self. Staff celebrated his own individuality and everyone tried their hardest to put him at ease. All of this means that residents are happy socialising together and with staff which makes for such a welcoming environment. I cannot recommend this home highly enough.
Brilliant staff and management. Very comfortable and a good balanced diet. Nothing is too much trouble.
Excellent care from dedicated staff who go the extra mile. All staff have created a very welcoming and family atmosphere throughout. The consistency of staffing levels allows for great communication too. Activities are varied and frequent and delivered enthusiastically for everyone's benefit.
I feel welcome when I go to see my Dad. I think the staff on memory lane are amazing with how they care for my Dad and are aware of his and other residents' needs. Dad can become extremely stressed with his dementia but the staff respond appropriately and with compassion. I feel comfortable when leaving him that they will comfort and support him.
Associated costs always leave a little bad taste in my rather large mouth... However, the care is exceptional. The staff are excellent and the general day to day experience is very good. Open day was a real success, and there is a good feel about the place.
Booked a respite stay at short notice due to Dad needing a break. From start to finish, we were completely happy with the experience, all staff we met, were kind courteous and helpful, and Mum seemed really settled and content. The home has a lovely feel when you walk in and even we, found visits to be very relaxing. Keep up the good work, you are a valuable part of the community.
The Manager is aware of all her residents' needs. The food is freshly cooked every day and there is a healthy balanced menu. The activity team try very hard to keep residents engaged in daily activities and know their capabilities very well. Nurses are very efficient and communicate any issues to families. Staff are very caring and know their residents' personalities, habits, likes and dislikes etc extremely well. I feel happy and have peace of mind knowing my mum is looked after 24 hours a day and has people around her all of the time. I feel Mum being at Wood Grange is the next best place to be other than living in her own home.
