View Full Details of Wheatsheaf Court Nursing HomeMy Dad was admitted to Wheatsheaf Court in April 2024, after a prolonged stay in hospital. The family was concerned about how he might respond to permanent care in a nursing home, as he could be a difficult patient at times. We needn't have worried. We had a lengthy discussion with managers about his current needs as well as his past likes, dislikes and hobbies and from day one he was treated with dignity and respect by all the staff. Everyone at Wheatsheaf Court understands the heartbreak of dementia and they are always willing to take the time to provide reassurance and care to the families as well as to the residents (this is so important, as families can find the stages of dementia as well as the care system itself bewildering at times). My Dad is comfortable and very well looked after and you couldn't wish for a cleaner, brighter, happier and more welcoming environment for someone who needs such a high level of care. Thank you to all.
My father became part of the Wheatsheaf family in April 2024, from the moment my father arrived the staff and management went above and beyond to help my dad, myself and my family. The staff provided my dad with excellent care, kindness and compassion. They got him engaged in activities, they took time to find his likes and dislikes and enabled him to participate in the things he liked most (darts and singing), they encouraged his independence. Since our father arrived at the Wheatsheaf, it was the happiest we had seen our father in a long time. I can’t begin to thank the staff for their care and dedication to my father. As a family, we will forever be grateful to them. I would highly recommend the Wheatsheaf for any loved one when that difficult decision comes, seeing my father smile will stay with me forever.
The home provided exceptional and thoughtful care to my mother. The staff were always kind, patient, and sensitive. The home feels more like a family environment compared to other care facilities that are more like hospitals or hotels in the atmosphere, and this is a real plus. The manager went out of his way to understand my mother’s needs in terms of her food and care preferences and was always available for a chat. All the staff took time to talk and listen to my mother and really got to know her, she was genuinely touched by the kindness shown by her carers, as I was too. The nursing staff were excellent in monitoring her diabetes and pain levels – the team are lovely and credit to all of them for providing such a caring environment.
My mother is a resident at Wheatsheaf Court and since her admission earlier this year has received excellent care from caring and compassionate staff who have responded to Mum's changing care and health needs in a professional and dignified way. Communication with all staff is excellent and we always feel welcome when visiting Mum. Staff make time to discuss any issues relating to Mum's care. Mum is comfortable and well cared for in every way for which we are grateful. As a family, we were confident that Mum would receive the best possible care as our late father was also a resident for almost 12 months before his peaceful passing in May 2023. His last few months were happy and he was able to engage in many activities before his health declined. His final days were peaceful and he received dignified care from wonderful staff. I would highly recommend Wheatsheaf Court to anyone who is considering care for a relative. It is a happy caring home with a family atmosphere.
I have no problem recommending the care at the Wheatsheaf based off our experience. We are extremely grateful for the care from the whole team, all of whom are kind, compassionate and professional. They were organised and thinking ahead. They went out of their way to find ways to connect with my relative in their last few days and turned their passing into a peaceful experience. Forever grateful.
Dad was well looked after during his recovery phase after a stay in hospital. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and made Dad feel safe and cared for. Their COVID 19 prevention care was superb. It was great to know that our dad was safe and happy. Did not see his room or the facility due to COVID19 restrictions.
Mum has been well cared for and the staff could not do enough for her. She has a lovely room and enjoys time spent getting to know everyone.
Very happy with all staff and the care given to my father in his last weeks.
My Dad was brought into this care home one week ago and I cannot praise all the staff and management enough. The care and attention they have given to my Dad so far have been first class. The room he has been given is clean, bright and spacious and the food supplied is excellent in both quantity and choices. I would definitely recommend this care home to anyone.
The nursing home provides a safe and caring environment for my mother at a difficult time at the end of her life.
All the staff at Wheatsheaf Court are very caring and generally nice people. The managers always have time for a chat if you would like, and I got regular calls regarding the well being of my Grandfather. The home is well kept, clean and welcoming. There's a real family feel about the place, you don't feel like you're in a soulless hospital, it's a great atmosphere with really great carers.
The staff are amazing and kind and they make such a fuss of mum. We love the fact that staff retention is so high meaning that mom has familiar carers who are getting to know her and she is getting to know them. The home is always clean and tidy and constantly being updated.
I find Wheatsheaf Court staff very friendly and obliging which is a stark contrast to another home where my wife was formerly. So no complaints keep up this good work.
My mum has been in this nursing home for two years and previously she was in a care home for seven years. My mum can no longer do anything for herself except feed herself. She did occasionally, take part in the many activities in the care home but cant now. I am happy with the care that my mum receives at the Wheatsheaf. The staff and management are very helpful, friendly and caring. My mum is looked after very well and they really do care, not just look after her, feed and clean her. They hug her, chat with her and she feels included. She is content and happy and is always smiling. I feel happy to recommend the Wheatsheaf Home as I feel it is a happy, caring home for my mum, thanks.
The staff are extremely kind and friendly to both residents and visiting families and there is usually someone on duty as "lookouts" regarding possible falls and sanitary needs. I appreciate clothes are washed together so vests, underwear and shirts always appear grey in colour. Residents seem to be wearing other residents clothes despite name tags. Snacks could be varied.
The staff are very helpful and keep everyone in their care well looked after. I get any help I need or advice when I ask.
In the last two years, my 96-year-old mother has been a resident in two different care homes in Northamptonshire. In September 2019, she became a resident of Wheatsheaf Court after a spell in hospital. The building, a former coaching inn has been adapted for residential care and it's age shows in the layout of the accommodation. The bedrooms are all of an adequate size and the high ceilings in the large communal areas give the feeling of being light and airy. Staff levels are very good and whilst there is a mixture of experience and youth, all of the carers show a level of compassion and caring towards the residents. Residents are offered a good range of drinks and snacks throughout the day. The manager and qualified nurse are always available to answer any questions relating to the running of the home or medication prescriptions. Since arriving at Wheatsheaf Court my mother has settled into the routine of the home and all members of the family comment on how calm she is. Highly recommended.
I can only admire the management and staff in the Wheatsheaf. In difficult circumstances, they take everything in their stride. A big thank you.
We have found Everyone at the Wheatsheaf Court to be really friendly and caring, not only to our uncle but to all the family and friends that visit him in the care home too! While our uncle has settled in over the last 7 months, everyone has encouraged him to maintain his independence and dignity, and they have been careful to let him get used to his new surroundings in his own time, and everyone has really taken the time to understand him and his individual needs, therefore making his time there very happy. He is very well looked after, we can’t fault his care. It is a very happy and caring home and we are very glad we have made it a forever home for our Uncle.
The location of the Care Home is superb and is very clean. I get my shopping done at the same time as visiting the home, which allows me to visit more often. NOTE: No smell compared to some of the homes we visited. The care is fantastic and the home has lots going on. Staff are polite and very caring. Great food and choice. I am glad we chose this care home.
