View Full Details of Moorlands Nursing HomeThe headline news? Moorlands is an excellent care home that gave my mum the highest standard of care. The background to that headline? Well, I was looking at care homes and saw one that was at pains to present itself as the perfect place for elderly people. And yet, they didn't just want me turning up. I had to book a time, which made me suspicious. Moorlands said I could just turn up. Which I did. From the outside, the building looks like it's seen better days. Inside, it feels like a rabbit warren of corridors and has an antique lift. But it also has something else - and that is staff who genuinely care. From the manager, who insisted on going to the hospital to meet my mum first and do due diligence, through to the nurses and assistants, they've managed to recruit people seemingly devoted to their jobs with genuine empathy and time for everyone. You can probably find homes that have beautiful lobbies and deluxe rooms, but you won't find one whose heart is better than this.
Moorlands Nursing Home provides excellent support for my mum. The staff's approach and genuine care for my mum are wonderful and ensure that the family know she is safe and well looked after. The staff have made Mum feel as though she belongs there and nothing is too much trouble. It isn't the newest of buildings and could do with some investments by the company in upgrading decor and facilities. However, the staff are excellent.
Moorlands became our first choice after detailed research, personal recommendations and a visit. Situated in a rural village and standing on its own grounds with beautiful gardens and trees, we were not disappointed. It is an excellent Nursing Home. After an awful experience in a previous home, our brother-in-law believed he'd landed in heaven. He kept saying, "They are all so lovely". We found the manager and all her staff were: caring; professional; fun and dedicated to helping. In a very short while we all felt part of the family. The room itself, the facilities, the nursing care, the food and the general cleanliness were all, again, excellent. Our only sadness was we wished we'd found Moorlands earlier. I can't praise it enough and we've already put our names down for when we might need it ourselves!
The Moorlands manager and her team gave my dad a wonderful two and a half years until he died of Dementia. I visited him regularly, he was very well looked after in what felt was a large family around him. He was always happy there, he would go on his regular walks around the building. He loved the food, dinner time was his favourite, especially pudding. Each time I visited it was clear that the other residents had the same experience too.
Very happy with Moorlands Nursing Home. This is the third one Mum has been in and by far the best. Management and staff keep us informed. Couldn't wish for a better place.
My mother-in-law was only with the manager and her team for a few days. However, during this time, we were all treated with such care and compassion that I cannot praise them high enough. Although my mother-in-law was not conscious during her time here, she was still tended to and cared for 24/7. We cannot thank the manager and her team enough for making what was a very difficult and emotional time, peaceful and dignified.
Moorlands Nursing Home has given exceptional care for my mum during the last 19 months. She was originally admitted, only expecting to live for around 9 weeks and it is thanks to the wonderful care given that she lived 19 months. She celebrated her 100th birthday last July and they pulled out all the stops to make this a really lovely day for her. Their care is faultless. A big thank you to all!
Definitely made the right decision choosing this care home for my mother, impossible to find fault.
very pleased with the way the staff have made my mum welcome into the care home.
Great staff, all very helpful and friendly. Manager was brilliant and helpful, couldn't ask for any more.
Although my friend was only admitted for a short time he was welcomed and made extremely comfortable. He enjoyed the activities.
Our grandmother Marion was a resident for the last nine months of her life. She was always comfortable and well looked after. In her last days the staff were amazing and took it in turns to stay with her so she was not alone. The only negative aspect was communication via the invoicing team at the head office. Could never get through on the phone to pay and then were referred to the non-payment team. Also a lot of incorrect invoices/errors on invoices.
Mum is always well-presented, clean and tidy. She loves the staff, this is clear to see and the staff are always respecting of her. Her room is clean and tidy and she enjoys the food as I often sit with her at meal times.
My father has been in Moorlands since November 2021. He's extremely well looked after by staff. I have every confidence in them! The staff are very caring, better than others within the area.
My mum spent nearly 3 years at Moorlands until she sadly passed away on 3rd Jan 2022. Throughout her time there, she was both happy and comfortable which is all down to the Carers and Management staff. They grew fond of Mum which we could clearly see on our visits to the home. Every time we left Mum, we were content that she was in the best place and was being lovingly looked after. Her room was nice and clean with her own bathroom and the lounge was large and bright with the large front window overlooking the garden. The carers were always on hand to meet the residents' needs which, at times, looked challenging due to the differing stages of Dementia, yet they went about their work both calmly and professionally. I speak for all my family when I say we are extremely grateful to the manager and her staff for making our mum's last few years comfortable and thank them all for the hard work they put in 24/7. We would recommend Moorlands Care Home to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones.
We like the sensitive and caring way the staff at Moorlands care for our mother. It's a bright and cheerful place with a friendly atmosphere and lots of books, games etc. The food offering is good and Mum always has plenty to eat.
My dad came to The Moorlands, sadly against his will. He hasn't been an easy chap but the manager and some staff in particular, have gone above and beyond to settle him. He is now a different chap, happy to live at The Moorlands. I would highly recommend The Moorlands, as a nursing home for challenging behaviour. The home is tired and maybe could do with decorating and new chairs, etc. Also regular staff, not agency.
Look after my grandad extremely well and care for his complex needs, and at times, challenging personality. He appears happy and well-fed! Home has been brilliant in lockdown with video calls and visits when allowed.
Dad was at Moorlands for End of Life care, sadly, this was only for 2 weeks but during that time he was looked after incredibly well and treated with dignity at all times and by all staff. He was made to feel a part of the Moorlands family from the outset, this too was extended to us as his family and we will be forever grateful for being allowed to visit dad during these very difficult times. Although we only saw dad's room, which was perfect for eol care, the overall impression of Moorlands is that it is managed and staffed professionally, calmly and with every thought being given to the resident's comfort and wishes. We would thoroughly recommend Moorlands to any families facing such a decision.
Visited every day. Staff were first-class, could not do more for her due to her condition.
