View Full Details of Church Farm at RusticusThe staff in Hawthorn House deal with a complex and varied set of issues but provide a caring and loving environment for their residents. They form a deep understanding of each individual resident and do the best they can to care for them and to enrich their lives. The residents are treated with respect and I witness small acts of kindness every time I visit.
When I was going through the endless list of care homes, I was very underwhelmed with what was on offer in the local area, that was until I came across Church Farm at Rusticus. I was made to feel welcome, the girls on the receptions were so lovely and helpful, the two managers made me feel at ease, it was so easy to talk to them, they had so much knowledge, both had a caring attitude and I felt at home straight away. It's bright, specious, with lots of things to do. I was shown around, the cafe, cinema and garden is such a special place. Every visit is a pleasure. The food, especially of late, is exceptional, rooms are clean, it smells fresh, of course there are times when dementia patients can make messes but it's clean and tidy and very homely. I am involved in care and get contacted about changes in care needs and the plan of living. My relative has thrived and the staff are amazing. It's a wonderful place. I can't wait to move in!
When the time came for my dad to go into a nursing home I was very anxious and very upset, but it didn't take long before I knew this was the right place this was Church Farm Rusticus on the bluebell floor, and every single staff member was amazing, loving and very caring with a family atmosphere, nothing was to much trouble... My dad was happy there and we loved visiting him, sadly my dad passed but during the time in which he spent there we made some wonderful memories. Would definitely recommend it.. thank you so much Bluebell Household.
My beloved Dad entered Church Farm at Rusticus in February 2024 following a shock diagnosis of brain cancer. My Mum is also a resident of Rusticus, living with dementia. I can hardly find the words to express my family's gratitude to all the wonderful, caring staff at Rusticus as well as the compassionate and professional management team. There is a family atmosphere and staff are so caring towards the residents. For the majority of the time my Dad was resident, he felt cared for and probably was spoilt quite a bit by the carers. He certainly enjoyed the home-cooked food. In March 2024 my parents celebrated 64 years of marriage and the wonderful staff arranged an anniversary lunch for them, and a few days later a birthday lunch for my Dad. Right up to the sad moment of my Dad's passing, our family felt cared for by the Rusticus team and we will never be able to thank them enough. We visited my Dad twice a day for 10 weeks, and the staff always made us feel welcome. Thank you.
My sister moved to Hickling Lodge at the end of last summer. She did not receive even basic care, and a safeguarding investigation was instigated after she had been there for just one week. The outcome of the council’s investigation is that the allegations of neglect on multiple areas were acknowledged by the home manager and the deputy to have been correct. Concerns around the care that my sister receives at Hickling Lodge continue. The new manager’s response to this has been inadequate. There is a regular turnover of staff, which compromises the quality of the care given. Communication at Hickling Lodge is poor.
My mum has been in Church Farm at Rusticus since June 2022, first in Hawthorn House, now in Primrose. As I live in France, I can't visit Mum as often as I would like - this is my fourth visit. I come over for a week and visit every day. I have always found everything to my satisfaction. The members of staff are unfailingly helpful and caring and always ready to answer any questions I may have. Living abroad, it is doubly important that I can be confident that Mum is receiving excellent care and attention, which I find is the case at Church Farm.
The staff at Church Farm at Rusticus could not do more for their residents. The level of kindness and caring just shines through. Our dad has been so well looked after and is very happy. He said he feels safe, which is amazing. Everyone cares for the residents and the family, which is really above and beyond. The atmosphere here is welcoming and I could not think of a better place for Dad.
I was looked after very well in Primrose Suite for four weeks after surgery on my right foot. The carers were marvellous, nothing was too much trouble and the nurses were very efficient. I needed help with a dressing and to maintain my medication regime. The unit is very busy, mainly for for dementia patients. I was able to take part in some activities, attending a summer party and the film club and there was a regular monthly activity menu. I saw the physiotherapist and the occupation health nurse for monitoring.
My ex-husband suffered from an extremely unpleasant and very disabling medical condition which left his cognitive abilities pretty intact. By the end of his life, his ability to communicate had nearly disappeared. The staff at Church Farm appeared to have real knowledge of my ex-husband as an individual and treated him with great respect and patience. They were also invariably kind and courteous to his family members who visited him. The building is very modern with a full-length verandah which provided a pleasant place for us all to sit together. All in all this home was much better than the previous home where he was a resident.
I have been at Church Farm for two weeks for rehab after a hip repair. I have nothing but praise for this unit, from management through all staff, so helpful, friendly and respectful, they always stop by for a friendly chat. I will be leaving soon and I am almost sad to go.
Ever since Dad moved to Hickling Lodge in January 2023, I've been so impressed at the care he receives. Hickling Lodge is so lovely; the rooms are peaceful and tasteful, as are the lounges and kitchen areas, and everything is absolutely clean. But, the most wonderful part of Hickling Lodge is the management and staff. They are all so incredibly warm, friendly, calm and kind people and whom my dad responds so well to. They get his humour and have taken time to build a friendship with him. The community liaison manager is nothing short of an angel on earth and I thank her and the team from the bottom of my heart.
Would recommend 100%, rooms are excellent with all facilities well thought out plus well secured, easy parking if have a car. Though some distance from public transport, it makes up for it in its perfect positioning of the serenity of its natural surroundings, relaxing and fresh.
Hickling Lodge - part of Church Farm at Rusticus Care Home. Mum was transferred to Hickling Lodge for palliative care after a stroke. Although only there for a couple of days, the staff and care that Mum received were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble - the staff were very caring and compassionate towards us at such a difficult time. I would definitely recommend this home.
I was at Hickling Lodge for a period of four and a half weeks. I found the place to be spotless and a good variety on the food menu. The staff were wonderful, treated you more like friends than carers and nurses. Nothing was too much trouble. The care I received was excellent, I must admit I miss them all.
A wonderful place, with wonderful staff. Nothing too much trouble, even in difficult situations. Mum was looked after fantastically well. Helps the family to feel at ease. Thank you.
My friend was here at Church Farm at Rusticus Care Home for a few weeks. She couldn't be in a better place. Very clean, staff are always very helpful and very polite, treating residents with dignity, love and patience. Always giving residents plenty to eat with lots of choices. Very large and very clean bedrooms and bathroom.
Very helpful and friendly staff, great views and nice modern accommodation.
My father was in your care for about three weeks, he was very well looked after. The staff were all caring and kind people, his room was just right with a spacious en-suite and kept very clean and was regular with washing his clothing. The food was excellent with lots to choose from. Just an issue when discharged as we didn't have all his medication but resolved it later the next day.
Staff were very caring and concerned for my husband's welfare and he was far too ill to be able to contribute to his care, verbally or mentally. Although staff always did what they thought was best for him, I knew that wasn't always actually so. The staff patiently cared but there were things that could have been better. I think it's part of knowing his care, medical, health and day-to-day needs that made it hard to accept others doing the caring - when they can't give the 24-hour care that I did. When he was dying I was allowed to stay in his room, which was so thoughtful and very much appreciated.
Very attentive staff who are all also very kind. When I arrive they always know where Mum is which is very reassuring. Over the last week my mum has put on weight and looks 10 years younger. Mum never wanted to spend any time in a care facility but has said several times how happy she is here.
