View Full Details of Highfields Nursing HomeReally happy with the care of my mum! 99% of the staff are brilliant. The amount of food could be better. Overall this place is amazing!
My husband has complex needs and is well cared for at Highfields.
In the short time my mother has been here I have noticed such a difference. She is calm, always involved in activities, not left in her room on her own. Staff very welcoming and kind.
My mum has mixed dementia. Since being in Highfield, she has become very settled. The staff are amazing. They treat my mum with a lot of care and love. The home has a lovely, friendly atmosphere, and the staff go above and beyond. My mum has been in three homes, and this is by far the best one. I would recommend Highfields to anybody. The home is my mum's home, and the staff are family. Communication is excellent, and I know my mum is being cared for and is safe. Well done guys! The activities are excellent too!
What can I say, the staff and management are fantastic, they treat my mum with such care and understanding and she wants for nothing even if when she wakes up early hours wanting toast and a cuppa they do it. After experiencing two bad care homes, my only regret is that I didn't choose this place to start with, once again thank you for the amazing care you give Mum and I can finally relax knowing she's safe.
During dads short stay he was treated without respect and dignity he was left to waste away. Not meeting his nutritional needs, not providing regular fluids, mobility needs or providing a basic standard of hygiene. He sustained injuries which were extremely distressing. We raised our concerns to the manager whose reply was ‘you can move him if you’re not happy’ rather than addressing our concerns and reassuring us as a family, a very distressing time for both my dad and his family members. Carers were unprofessional in their communication using inappropriate language and extremely insensitive speech. If I could leave negative stars I would as a dog would not have been allowed to suffer the way my dad did. This is an honest review based on eye witnessing and personal experiences. This organisation seriously needs investigating to prevent unnecessary suffering of vulnerable people.
My father was treated with contempt during the last two months of his life spent unfortunately at this care home. Often left to fend for himself he could not feed himself or drink and was left covered in food and drink. Left with no shoes or socks on, on a cold floor. Was given no dignity staff grappling with him on the floor just to get him dressed, an activity some staff members even found amusing laughing at my poor dad's plight. These are just a few of the numerous failings that I witnessed during visits. I dare not think about what other atrocities occurred the rest of the time. He was simply left to die. If you care about your loved ones please don't send them here. Concerns were raised with the unempathetic manager who knows she is running a sinking ship. This place needs to be shut down.
The staff are polite and and are able to share information about my relative in their care. It will be good to have regular review meetings and see photos of activities in the future that residents take part in.
All staff polite, caring, friendly. From management, nurses carers from first day to last.
I would just like to say my father in law was not an easy resident as his dementia got worse but Highfields Nursing Home dealt with all his needs he was there for two and half years. They informed me of everything that he was doing. On the 14th of March the manager, who our family think is amazing, came in as my father in law was in the end of life stage. The management, nurses, carers, even cleaners looked after me as well as my father in law. I've seen death before, but they made my father in law have a comfy one.
My aunt was a resident of this excellent care home for 2 years whilst suffering from dementia. The staff were extremely caring, always helpful to residents and families and I cannot praise them highly enough. My aunt had been in two care homes previously in the Nottingham area and we were far from satisfied with the treatment that she received. Highfields impressed us right from the start and even during the Coronavirus initial worries, they came through with flying colours with all residents happily free from the Covid. It was fitting that my aunt ended her days in Bulwell, having spent most of her childhood living there. We would totally recommend Highfields to anyone looking for a place where the staff have the residents well being uppermost in their minds.
I have found the facilities and staff to be excellent and geared to make one feel at home and comfortable.
The care that Highfields Nursing Home provides for my dad who is 99-years-old is to a high standard. The manager of my dad's previous care home/with nursing came to the conclusion the staff could not cope with him and he was given 2 months notice to leave in July 2019. He has been at Highfields since August 2019, I now have peace of mind knowing he is being looked after and feel he is valued as a person by the brilliant staff and management at this nursing home.
I’m amazed at how well Highfields handled the current COVID-19 pandemic. We got updates on my grandfathers health, the manager kept us in the loop should there have been a problem, thankfully my grandfather didn’t get COVID. We as a family owe Highfields Home everything for taking care of my grandfather. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a home for family/relatives.
My mum is very happy in this home, the staff are always cheerful to the residents and treat them with respect and dignity. The food is excellent and the home is always clean and tidy. It is a homely environment and I would recommend the home to family and friends.
Although my father was only here for a short time before he passed. The care and love he was shown was excellent, always going out their way to make sure he never felt alone, giving him their time and love. From management to staff alike; they were always there for me and my family, thank you so much for your hard work and kindness.
My Mother moved to Highfields in October last year after being unhappy in another care home. She can be very difficult and demanding a lot of the time. At the last home, she stayed in her room most of the time and kept saying she wanted to die. At Highfields, she has been much happier and is eating well. She is taken into the lounge where there is more stimulation for her. The staff are very patient and kind to her despite her difficult moods. I am much happier now she is a Highfields.
The carers work very hard at Highfields. When I visited, it was always well staffed. All the staff were very kind and patient. Very organised, the nurses/manager were very good at keeping us updated with any issues. There is lots of indoor space so that people living with dementia don't have to live on top of each other. Think it's a shame Highfields don't have a bigger garden for when the weather is nice, otherwise great. The meals looked lovely, my relation enjoyed them.
My great nana sadly passed away in this care home, she hadn’t been here long, but due to her illness, we sadly lost her. We as a family, can’t thank the home any more for how much they did for her in the little time of her being in here. They were fantastic, they always ensured that we will be okay and constantly asked if we needed anything. We can well and truly say, she was looked after in Highfields, as we were worried about which care home would be best for her, we definitely picked the best. Thank you again for all your hard work in a short period of time. Thank you again.
My husband needed emergency respite care due to illness. This was arranged very quickly and he was welcomed back (he had respite care there before). I was happy to leave him and felt reassured that his needs would be met. Issues I had raised before were addressed.
