View Full Details of Melbourne House Nursing HomeOur dad has lived at Melbourne house for just over three years. He has very complex needs. Not only does my dad receive excellent care we as visitors are made to feel at home when we visit and nothing is too much trouble. My dad is well cared for by the team and he is settled. Last week the staff realised Dad was not himself. They called out of hours straight away and a GP did a home visit and gave him antibiotics. Anything we have ever asked has always been sorted straight away by the amazing manager. She and the team have really changed my dad's life and his family. I was originally recommended this home by a social worker as after looking after Dad for fifteen years it became apparent he needed 24-hour care. I am so grateful we found Melbourne House.
I often visited to find the alarm button had been pressed for some time, not sure if staff ignored them. Missing laundry, I took my friend two handmade blankets on Monday, but they had disappeared by Wednesday. His clothes would go missing regularly despite being labelled, and then not recovered. My friend spoke about a carer who he called "the cow" who seemed to try to make life difficult for him. I think the rest of the staff were more positively viewed. It was only one individual.
Melbourne House Nursing Home has provided my father with excellent care over the past few months. The Care Team, in particular, has shown a genuine dedication to his well-being, treating him with compassion and respect. The high standard of nursing care he has received has been truly reassuring, addressing his medical needs with skill and attention. The adjacent GP surgery which attends to the residents via weekly rounds - is a particular bonus. The variety of activities offered at the home is another standout aspect. The Activity Team works incredibly hard to keep residents engaged and inspired, creating a lively and stimulating environment. These activities have had a positive impact on my father's mood and overall quality of life. I am grateful for the care and commitment shown by the staff at Melbourne House, and would highly recommend their services.
Carers did a fantastic job. Sister-in-law came to Melbourne House 21 years ago and has been well cared for.
Several concerns since our family member has been at Melbourne House and don't feel we are listened to. Room is dirty with old furniture safety a massive concern. Very abrupt response when we have raised concerns.
My husband was in the care of Melbourne House Nursing Home until he passed away. The staff looked after him with care, compassion and dignity. The staff treated me and my family as part of their family. I wanted to give something back for all their care so I decided to come back as a volunteer. I've been here for 3 years now and love helping the residents. The activities I help with are outstanding and you can see the residents enjoying themselves.
My mum lived at Melbourne House Nursing Home since January 2021 until October 2023. She loved the home and staff working there. Staff are kind and friendly, great support network. Communication with myself was always on point. I am happy with all the care my mum received whilst living at Melbourne House.
My auntie has been a resident since 2020 and we are satisfied that she is being well cared for and she has plenty of activities to join in when she is up to them.
My dad has only been with the home for a short time, but they have made him feel at home. They have been sensitive and flexible in the complex needs my dad has, and I have felt reassured he is in a happy, safe environment. The staff have been exceptional in offering support and kindness to both myself and my dad.
My mum was a resident at Melbourne House for almost four years until September 2022. I can honestly say she could not have received better care and compassion anywhere. The staff are wonderful as are the management. Entertainment and wonderful food are definitely their strength, as is their understanding of Dementia (which my mum suffered from). Wonderful place.
A lovely care home with dedicated and committed staff. The home is very well-led and managed. I cannot thank the manager enough for all her trust and support of my 93-year-old mother, who had been in decline at her previous nursing home and sustained injuries to her face. The team at Melbourne are fantastic! Kind and caring.
My friend was moved from the hospital to Melbourne House for end-of-life care and sadly stayed only a few weeks before he passed away. Every single one of the staff was amazing - caring, kind and professional. They got to know my friend, accepted him and how he was towards the end with compassion and good humour at all times. The home is friendly and relaxed, and I know that he felt at ease and comfortable there, even under such awful circumstances. He really appreciated that the carers and nurses would come in and have a chat and laugh with him, always treating him as an individual. We, his friends, also really valued their kind support for all of us who visited him, especially those who were with him at the end.
Been looking after my mum since February 2020 and always treated her with care and respect. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Would recommend this care home to anyone else.
I find the home inviting and friendly, clean and tidy. The staff are always helpful and friendly. My mother is treated very well.
So happy with the care my dad has received whilst being here. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Melbourne House Nursing Home to anyone.
The staff at Melbourne House were incredible. All fo the staff - carers, kitchen workers, cleaners and of course nurses and managers. They were all extremely kind, caring and empathetic. Not only to my brother but also to me. The standard of care was amazing. I couldn't have asked for anything better for my brother. The manager and all her staff were incredible.
My mother became a resident in November 2021. In the short time she was there the satff were amazing getting to know her likes and dislikes. They looked after our mother as though it was family that were looking after her. We can not thank the staff enough for the care they gave our mother. Even after her passing the support they gave us we will never be forgotten. Even after our first visit we knew it was the right place for our mother. We feel very lucky to have our mother at this home. They showed compassion and dignity to her.
Both my father (97) and step-mother (85) became residents in May 2021. My step-mother went into hospital in June for an emergency operation but sadly was returned to Melbourne House for end of life care. The care that both she and my father received was superb. Staff attended to both of them with their very different needs. My step-mother was treated with kindness and compassion and her death was peaceful as a result of the close attention she was paid. My father understandably needed emotional as well as physical support throughout the period of her passing and afterwards as the family prepared for the funeral. I am extremely grateful to all those who cared for them both and continue to support my father through his bereavement.
Mum arrived in March 2021 after being moved from another home in the area. I/we as a family feel very fortunate that our mum was accepted here. Mum settled in very well and became a well liked resident amongst the staff and other residents. The love and care shown to our mum was amazing which gave us peace of mind when you hear so many stories about standards and complaints about so many homes. We can't thank Melbourne House enough for all they have done.
Great home, feel lucky to have found this gem of a home. Staff are friendly and answer questions when asked. The home always welcoming and supportive through Covid changes that have taken place over the year. My grandma loves living here made friends and great staff.
