The care given to my mum by the team on the Crompton unit is exceptional. My mum has advanced mixed dementia and quickly went from living at home with my dad to hospital and then Crompton. We couldn't have asked for a nicer team and with the added support from management who embraced our family, especially my dad who challenged everything at the beginning because, after fifty-five years marriage, he knows my mum best. We now feel part of the Crompton team and although hard to accept we can't care for Mum at home, we couldn't ask for a better place than Burrswood Care Home.
Burswood Care Home made the last three difficult months for my mother the best we could have hoped for. All the staff were helpful, caring and empathetic. A big shout out to seeing them at Mum's funeral yesterday, it was a very touching tribute from them. A special mention to a member of staff, in particular, who was always on hand to sort potential issues, keep doing what you were born to do! Caring for the most vulnerable who need dignity in their final years.
My experience has been positive since my husband came to Burrswood Care Home. All staff have been very helpful and considerate.
My wife entered Burrswood Care Home with terminal lung cancer and her doctor had said that she may last hours or days. She was placed in a well-appointed room in a very comfortable bed with an air mattress. My daughter, son and I were told from the start that we could visit her 24/7. It was immediately apparent that the staff actually cared deeply for her well-being; it was not just a job! Her comfort and pain relief were monitored hourly and she was regularly re-positioned to add to her comfort. When we visited, we were given refreshments and made welcome. We were encouraged to ask questions which they answered. My daughter stayed every night and on the sixth night, all three of us stayed since the end appeared near and she did leave this life that night. We could not fault the staff in any way. They cared for her as if she were family, with love and close attention. At the end, they were equally caring for our family. I cannot praise the staff too highly. They were superb.
The staff and management always put the residents' care and needs as a priority. The staff know and acknowledges the individualism of each resident meeting their needs and requirements as necessary. Residents' family, friends and visitors are always made to feel welcome and are kept informed.
Nice staff who are very friendly and Mum seems to like them and they like her. Some staff have been there for years so this is comforting. She is clean (apart from her nails sometimes). I am happy for her to be there and would recommend it to other people.
My father has been in Burrswood Care Home for over twelve months and seems quite settled now although it was difficult in the early days. He is on Kay unit which specialises in dementia care - he has good days and less good days with his condition but on the less good days, the staff are always patient and kind with him. The care home itself has had a very difficult twelve months or so which has played out in the public domain. They are very much coming out of the other side of these issues with the recent CQC audit, a reflection of the hard work and effort that has gone into turning the home round. Well done all. My only challenge back is on the cost which increased by over 10% this year although, to be fair to the local team, they can't influence this as it is a head office decision. However, with a higher cost comes higher expectations and so they need to keep improving and delivering.
My 104-year-old mother is now the oldest in the home. She has old age dementia. She has been in the home since February 2021. She has settled very well in the home and has been looked after by caring staff. The staff work hard and have a great deal of kindness and patience with the residents. The manager and his team work hard and are extremely helpful. Should you ever have any questions or concerns they always go out of their way to help you.
My mother has been in Burrswood Care Home for two years and the management team have done a fantastic job turning the home into a top-quality care home. The staff are fantastic and I believe that I couldn't find a better care home anywhere for my mum. I can't thank the full team enough.
My mother has been living at Burrswood Care Home (on Peel unit) for almost two years (after transferring from another home which could no longer meet her needs). For us, it has been a very positive experience and we have been very happy with the care she has received. Mum has advanced dementia and has extremely complex needs. She has always been treated with great compassion and dignity! Due to her condition, Mum can be quite aggressive at times but the staff are always incredibly patient and caring with her. I can honestly say that the staff go above and beyond in their care for my mum and I really feel that she is in safe hands.
My mother has been a resident for three and three quarter years on Kay Unit. She has dementia. The staff are angels, they really care and are so good with the residents, some of which are very difficult and not easy to look after. The time and patience they give the residents is wonderful and knowing they work long hours for poor pay, I can only thank them and praise them.
I have no complaints regarding my husband's care. The staff are excellent and treat him with dignity. Meals are good and well presented, residents are given a choice. Drinks and snacks are provided in between meals. The staff have always been helpful to me when I have had any concerns about his care e.g. his medication or weight. They liaise with a GP weekly.
From my first experience at Burrwood, I was impressed by the professionalism of all concerned. All my questions were answered fully and I had no concerns. In the three months my mum has been a resident, she has received a high level of care and all staff are friendly and offer good care. I could recommend this home to anyone.
My wife has been looked after since she became ill after breaking her leg and developing dementia. The staff are caring and are always willing to help my wife and also myself.
As a family we cannot praise Compton Unit at Burrswood House enough. From the level of leadership shown by one nurse and her team of caring, skilled and respectful co-workers, whilst looking after our mother, we cannot be more grateful. Staff were always consistent in communicating any issues to us regarding her care. At times going above and beyond especially in the latter part of her stay.
I cannot thank enough, the staff on Dunster unit for their time spent with my sister, talking with her and attending to her physical, medical and personal care with such kindness, understanding, friendliness, and professionalism. My family and I also appreciated being made welcome at the home and keeping us informed of my sister's condition and taking an interest in her life. Thanks also to the admin staff for their support and general advice.
Absolutely outstanding care was provided by every member of staff on Dunster Unit, the care and compassion was heartwarming and provided the family with great reassurance that our Nan was in such loving, caring hands. We cannot give enough thanks to five staff members in particular, to name a few - all the nursing staff, but also to the five carers in particular, again to name just a few of the staff we got to know and muchly appreciated during our Nan's time at Burrswood. We know how much she also knew that she was in such good care during her final few weeks. I never came across management, but if their staffing are anything to go by, then I'm sure they will of been exactly the same. Many thanks.
As a family, we will be eternally grateful to the staff on the Dunster unit for their loving care. These people go above and beyond. The compassion the staff showed will never be forgotten. We couldn't have been happier with the sensitivity and dignity shown as well as treatment received. How wonderful to have such outstanding staff that continuously went out of their way with such kindness. Thank you to every single member of the team on the Dunster unit. Their hard work and genuine thoughtfulness never once went unnoticed.
My friend spent the last few weeks of her life in this home. I found the staff very caring. They treated my friend with care, patience and gentleness, and my friend looked comfortable and as at peace as was possible in these last stages. I was amused when my friend got the names of the staff wrong, but both staffs reacted as if they'd had their proper names.
