View Full Details of Abbotsford Care HomeI visited a friend today and I must say I was very impressed, the staff appear friendly and caring and I particularly liked how they interact with residents, I also met senior carers and they were professional and caring. My friend even said to me that he couldn't wish to be in a better place. Very warm and welcoming and my first impression is I am extremely impressed.
My mum first went to the home for assessment but has stayed on as a resident, she has vascular dementia and although quite a character can be very challenging, I would like to thank the staff who are all lovely and managed to get her to interact with others as she has not for years. Although she hates being in a home she regularly says the staff are lovely and she is not known for giving out compliments for no reason.
Very good staff and clean house, with all that someone needs in their rooms, everybody friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this as a good place for other people's relatives to be left in their care.
My mother stayed at Abbotsford Care Home for a few months at a difficult time in her life. She really appreciated the care, patience and good humour of the manager and the carer team, as did I and the rest of the family. It was a relief to know that she was being looked after by such an attentive team, who were always on hand, whether it was with welcome cups of tea or providing more hands-on, supportive care. Thank you for all you've done.
I recently visited a friend at Abbotsford Care Home. He was a good friend we had lost touch with until a staff member informed me that he was at Abbotsford and l believe it’s his second period of respite there as he is so well cared for and looked after there. He appears to be thriving under their care. I only met two staff members who were both lovely and l could tell what lovely caring natures they had! I’m glad my friend is doing so well thanks to Abbotsford - it seems a lovely home which put residents first. Clean and comfortable and clearly well managed - well done!
Mum went to Abbotsford Care Home in December 2022 for 7 wks for respite after being in hospital. Mum is now back home. Can't thank and praise the staff enough for the care they gave my mum. The manager was lovely and always very helpful, if she wasn't available a staff member who worked in the office was always at hand to offer any help. The care staff were lovely. I got to know the 3 senior care staff (who worked the day shifts) they were very efficient, knew their job, polite, always happy and very caring and nothing was too much trouble for them, the care staff were lovely too especially the daughter of one of the senior carers (sorry can't remember her name.) Always happy and had a contagious laugh. I met 2 of the cooks who were lovely and got to know mum. The care home was clean and mum's room was spotless, warm and cosy. I take my hat off to you all for doing a hard job look so effortless. I can't thank you all enough. Lots of love to you all.
All the staff are caring and professional, Mum seems very happy there which is important to us. Up until recently because of the various health restrictions we had not seen inside the premises, however, on our last visit we went inside Abbotsford and were pleasantly surprised.
I cannot thank the staff at Abbotsford Care Home enough for the care provided to my mother. There is no harder job than looking after elderly people who are in poor physical and mental shape, and the staff have gone above and beyond what I would have expected. My mum is now in a much better shape than before she went in, and is now clean, appropriately dressed and is eating well - she always compliments the chef when I visit. I know a care home is not what my mum had originally intended for herself, but her dementia and other problems worsened to the point that she needed to be kept safe and happy. The staff are the key part to making the care home work as well as it does. They are exceptionally kind, cheerful and passionate about what they do. Thank you so much Abbotsford. I would wholeheartedly recommend this home to anyone.
My father went to Abbotsford Care Home in December for a short stay respite from the hospital. I was worried about the move as he wasn't himself whilst in hospital and had deteriorated mentally. Upon arrival at the home, we found the care staff to be very welcoming and I instantly felt relief, I knew my father would be looked after. I was able to visit any time and was always made to feel welcome. Abbotsford Care Home is a lovely home and I would definitely recommend.
My mum, who has Alzheimer's and very poor mobility had to come for respite for 2 months as I had a bad accident requiring surgery, so could not give mum the care she needed. Mum was treated with dignity, respect, and kindness by all the lovely staff here and I would not hesitate to ask if she could have respite here again, indeed, I have already asked for it later this year. I also was treated respectfully by all the lovely and caring staff, when I rang to speak with mum and arrange visits and cannot thank them all enough for their care and kindness.
My Mum stayed at Abbotsford in May 2021 as a respite resident. She was initially staying for 1 week but we extended it to 4 weeks. The staff treated my Mum with respect and always offered her choices. All staff including the manager and the administration manager were lovely and very helpful with both myself and my Mum. I will be using them again for respite if they can accommodate my Mum.
My Father in Law came to Abbotsford Nursing Home at the end of January 2017 and died there on February 28th, 2017. He was 92 and had lived at home until he had a stroke in Sept 2016. He was a hoarder! He was a War Hero. He had developed an attitude of mild selfishness and rudeness as a result of this living on his own. After 3 months in hospital he was discharged to Abbotsford. "I don't belong here. I am just visiting. Just passing through." This was a positive choice on our part since, after visiting and touring quite a number of places, this was the Nursing Home which exhibited a Patient-Facing Policy. The Staff seemed to LOVE their guests and treated them as ordinary people. There was plenty of involvement and a seamless daily activity in the home. It is clean and there is a development in terms of decoration in place. Friends and Family are welcomed. Not only would I recommend Abbotsford to others... I would be happy to visit occasionally as a guest, if invited.
My mother recently passed away at the age of 90 at Abbotsford. The care and compassion given to my mother were truly wonderful. The staff treated her with real love and respect and l cannot thank them enough for all they did for her, they were exceptional. I could not recommend the home more highly.
