View Full Details of Barton Brook Care HomeMy dad arrived at this place on August 29th 2024. In the short time he was there he had 11 falls, pushed to the ground twice with injuries, lost 1/2 stone in weight, he was a very slim man. Went missing twice, staff unaware of his whereabouts, sat with a blanket over him with vomit and no socks on, he was freezing. Cup of tea in his room green moldy. Caught an infection, his bed was broken, my husband had to fix it. Caught another infection which lead to Sepsis. He was rushed to hospital where he stayed one week later, we were told he is now on End of Life care. Me and my husband called to this place to complain to the manager. Her response, half of these incidents were not brought to her attention. Well you all should be ashamed and embarrassed that this has happened under your watch. After being closed down once and investigated by a consumer investigating programme this needs checking again. CQC report Care, Needs improvements. Safety, Needs improvement. My dad passed away on 13th December 2024.
The staff have been extremely helpful and supportive at a difficult time for the family and work tirelessly to make sure families are kept up to date with any changes that occur. The garden cafe area is a lovely place to sit and chat when the unit is busy, there is nothing which is too much trouble for the team working with families. A huge thank you to everyone at Barton Brook Care Home, from management, carers, entertainment, office, maintenance, laundry, cleaners and kitchen, you are all amazing.
Staff are very nice and welcoming. My husband is very happy at Barton Brook Care Home. We feel very happy knowing my husband is happy, safe and well. In my opinion, Barton Brook delivers excellent care.
Very good home.
When I first arrived on Irwell, the manager was so nice to me and bent over backwards to help me out for all my needs. She gave me an excellent room with patio doors and patio. She got me sculptures of cats and chickens. She really helped me out. Not only that, she works really hard to make Irwell a happy environment. All the staff on Irwell are really nice, decent and will help you out with anything you need. Irwell is the best unit by far. It has the best manager and staff by far. I feel lucky to be on this unit. All the staff are fantastic and wonderful and that's a fact.
My mother was a resident on Irwell House and whilst visiting, I have made friends with staff and residents and always been made very welcome. Since my mother has passed away, I have continued to visit Irwell House and kept in contact with the friends I have made there. Whilst visiting, I have seen various activities going on and I offer a helping hand. I find the unit very clean and smelling good. Since the reintroduction of unit managers, the unit has improved.
Upon arrival, we were made to feel very welcome, staff came to introduce themselves which was lovely, the manager displays and encourages an open door policy, very approachable. Residents' well-being is a top priority, customer-centric for relatives and understand how difficult a decision has been for me to make. Overall, positive vibes I got after visiting resulted in this home being chosen. Knowing I can easily approach staff gives me a great degree of comfort. Daily choice of meals has been good, staff are very approachable, nothing is too much trouble. Initial areas requiring improvement relate to TV programmes shown in the lounge, needs to cater for all residents and have music playing regularly, currently same programmes being shown which are not to all residents, needs better management to improve. Overall for all cleanliness of flooring, needs urgent improvement both in communal/residents' rooms.
Mum has recently moved into Barton Brook Care Home (Irwell unit) into a nursing bed. Initially respite now permanent. Mum and family had been made to feel welcome from the beginning of her stay, everybody has been very friendly. Mum seems to be settling really well and they are meeting her care needs, which can be challenging at times, as we could no longer meet her needs.
Mum was admitted from hospital for further assessment in relation to level of care for her dementia diagnosis. I was a little apprehensive to leave her at first as did not know what to expect but after two days, my worries were soon gone. The staff have been amazing, making sure Mum is addressed at various times of the day and night. Always smiling and it's nice to see Mum (after two days) knows some of the staff, giving them a wave.
My mum moved into Barton Brook Care Home (Irwell House) in September. From the start, all staff have been helpful and very friendly. Mum is very happy in her new home. The home is always clean and smells fresh. Food is ample for Mum's needs. We were told to make Mum's room homely with her things and they have been helpful arranging furniture etc. Pleased Mum is here being very well looked after.
We are pleased and very reassured that our mum is in very good hands. Staff are caring and nothing is too much trouble.
The staff at Barton Brook Care Home are excellent, they treat everyone with dignity, care and compassion. I could not be more happy with the service my husband has received from his first day. Cleanliness, support and food and drink are first-class. Safety, security and support are of the highest quality.
Went to visit my brother today and what a turnaround. He seems much happier and relaxed, due to the help of a member of staff, in particular. The garden cafe is fantastic. My brother and I spent a good hour in there, it is brilliant, you can make a hot drink and yes, bickies! My brother has been helping with the new flower, herb plot and hanging baskets. He has always been an outdoor person and I think this has helped him. Big thank you to this member of staff, you have made my day.
I cannot express enough how fabulous the new "garden café is"! A fantastic place to break out with Mum, a very welcome change from sitting in the room. The staff who made this happen, including the maintenance guys, need a big pat on the back! Will definitely pop in again!
We were initially very worried about my brother settling in a care home but the staff have been nothing short of superb, every single one of them have made him so welcome. He is loving the meals that are provided; he's never eaten so well. The building is being well maintained by onsite maintenance team. His own room is well-equipped and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and informative with relations of residents as well. We now have peace of mind that my brother is well looked after in a very well managed care home.
My husband was in respite at Barton Brook Care Home for the last three weeks. He has advanced dementia and Alzheimer's. In spite of his many challenges, the manager of the unit and her staff were incredible and I cannot thank and praise them enough. No matter how many problems he gave them, they were kind, patient and considerate and looked after him extremely well. They all deserve a huge pat on the back. I can honestly say they gave me three weeks of de-stressing and getting myself back to full strength. Thank you to all of them, especially the unit manager who is an angel.
We are really pleased with the care Mum has received over the last few months since the appointment of a unit manager. All the care staff are very kind, supportive and approachable and any problems are addressed immediately by the manager. The cleaning, laundry and kitchen staff all do an excellent job. We have noticed a big improvement in Mum's health which is due to the excellent care she is receiving. A big thank you to all staff involved.
Mum appears to be happy here. She said everyone is very kind to her. The carers and nurses will listen to any concerns we have. I feel there appear to have been improvements to the care home in the past few weeks. The staff appear more settled and happier working here too.
My husband has been in the care home just over twelve months. I wasn't impressed with the home the first few months. But over the past six months, it has improved, the staff are very pleasant and helpful. I am sure if there is room for improvement they will achieve it.
My sister has been a long-term resident at Barton Brook Care Home and now resides in Irwell House where the unit manager leads a team of staff who are always helpful and upbeat. They are always happy to engage with my sister and help in communicating with her despite aphasia after a stroke. The unit has a happy vibe and a good team of care staff.
