View Full Details of The Lakes Care CentreAfter the death of her husband it was clear that my mother-in-law would not be able to live alone. The care package put in place broke down very quickly but we were able to get her a place at The Lakes at short notice. We were able to chose her room for her. She settled very quickly surprisingly. I do think the routine of getting up every day and set meal times does help her. She can be hard work at times but I know she is safe and well cared for. She is looked after by the staff there and I have no issues after she has not been there for nearly 10 months. We are local to The Lakes and can visit when we want to.
The management at The Lakes Care Centre in my view & experience over the last 3 months clearly aim to improve and become a leading care home, i.e best in class. Note this was clearly demonstrated at the last family and The Lakes management meeting, with a very open minded approach. With asking just honest feedback to support continuous improvements going forward.
My father entered The Lakes in May 2024. Although his health has deteriorated since then, we are happy with the care he has received. He seems happy enough, he's kept clean and has regular visits to the barber for a haircut and shave, which pleases him as he always took pride in his appearance. When we, the family, go to visit Dad we usually find him settled. The food is very good and the staff always tend to his needs.
Lovely premises. Friendly caring staff. Good food warm surroundings. Varied activities. Would like a brochure available to family and friends, showing meal times, staff and information.
My mother moved into the home 12 months ago. We felt very welcome as a family as we are a large family who literally went every day and night to visit mum as we are a close family. The home/staff did everything we asked them to do to support us aswell as supporting mum which was their main priority. The home is clean + welcoming, mums room we could bring things in to decorate that would make it more personal to mum. The meals are fabulous and great portion sizes and even my dad was fed every time he visited. They had activities on a daily + weekly basis. If we had any concerns, we would voice them + they would listen the staff on coniston wing are amazing + management are very approachable.
Me and my husband come to visit a resident at the lakes regularly. We go at various times and each time we visit the care and professionalism shown to each and every resident is exemplary. During one of our visits in February there were drinks biscuits and chocolates being shared with all the residents. One resident wanted another drink and the carer went and got it for her. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Care love understanding and professionalism to each resident is excellent.
My mother-in-law has been at the lakes a few months and I can not fault the home, lovely staff , big variety of activity's, big room and very clean. We definitly choose the right place for her after leaving hospital, she love the staff, has made friends and her health has improved a lot.
The lakes seems to be the perfect place for my mum. The staff are extremely friendly and professional and the interaction with the residents is caring, sympathetic and informative. I hope my mum has many happy times here.
As I live in Australia it was with some trepidation when I heard my mother was being sent to a nursing home from hospital. However on arrival at the facility The Lakes initial reaction on driving into The Lakes was one of surprise (pleasantly). I met with staff and was shown all the facilities. Very impressed. My mother is settled and eating well. Courteous and friendly staff. A huge difference from the care company that Mum had when at home (4 visits a day) and nothing like the attention she receives here.
My wife has settled down in the unit and physically has improved. She enjoys the food and has put on too much weight. Talking to the staff she appears to enjoy the social side and likes the staff very much. I personally find the staff very friendly and approachable, and they listen to me and take action where it is necessary. The take over of the home is progressing favourably and may it continue to do so.
Didn't know what we were coming to see the first visit, but so happy with everything that you provide, my mother-in-law seems to have settled very well which makes us very happy as we live so far away. You have lovely caring staff, it is a great relief to us both. Thank you.
Needs management and supervision for night team. Also, a rota needs to be made for the daytime staff as more often than not only one member of staff is left in the lounge, there should be at least two members of staff at any one time in the lounge.
One lost hearing aid.
Found staff helpful and caring. The Lakes is very clean, so is Mum's room. The food looks good and very inviting.
The care home is very friendly and clean. Staff work hard and show love and compassion to my mother, which is very important to me.
I find the home pleasantly appointed and the staff cheerful and accommodating.
We visit our friend each week and she always seems to be cheerful and content with accommodation and meals.
This is my first visit. Everyone is very friendly. The home is clean and nicely decorated. My friend says the food is excellent. She looks clean and tidy, nicely dressed. The staff are available in the lounge all the time. She seems well cared for and happy.
Brilliant nursing home. My father-in-law was in there and we couldn't have asked for better people to look after him - clean, friendly, welcoming, the list is endless, unfortunately, he has now died but we would recommend this home to anyone.
My Mum has been a resident of The Lakes, Dementia unit now for over 12 months. Mum has thrived whilst residing in The Lakes. The unit is safe, secure, very clean and the staff are excellent carers. There is a lot of interaction with the residents, for example, trips out to children's day nurseries, barge trips to name a few. Craft activities take place on a regular basis and residents are encouraged and assisted in taking part. Mums room is en suite, spacious, warm and kept very clean. The laundry service is excellent.
