View Full Details of RiversideMy aunt was a resident at Riverside from May 2023, having been moved from another nursing home to be closer to ourselves. The experience of Riverside, from day one, has been exemplary with all the staff ensuring my aunt was well dressed, clean and ensuring her dietary needs were met, even when she had gone off standard food and was on liquid supplements. She had dementia and found it difficult to communicate but the way the staff spoke with her was a joy to watch her face light up when she was spoken to. When medical issues occurred, her care was forefront and I and my partner were informed at all times until she passed away very recently. The funeral directors also passed on to me how respectful all the staff were when my aunt was taken into their care. So very touching. This venue is excellent and highly recommend it to anyone.
Myself and my family would like to thank all the staff at Riverside Care Home for caring for both of my grandparents over the last few months. Especially this last week during the end of my Grandads life. The care, compassion, and commitment of all staff have been outstanding. Both day and night staff have made us feel comfortable, relaxed and well looked after during the difficult time. We continue to thank them for the ongoing care they are giving to my Grandma and the support she is receiving during her grief. Special thanks to all the team. You made our difficult situation easier and without you all looking after us we don't know what we would have done.
The care and love my Mum receives is amazing. They can not do enough for her. And respect and respond to Mum's needs. They are all lovely and always are very caring and helpful with Dad whom is there visiting Mum. Thank you.
Thought my mum was going into a loving care home but that was not the case. More regimental feeling as opposed to a homely feeling. I lost my mum in Sept 24, was a peaceful passing and she is now at rest, which is the comfort to this day I have, as she had me and my husband by her side. Staff and management wanted the funeral date but no show from anyone to represent Care UK or Riverside was very saddening for me. Please choose wisely when looking at care homes for your loved ones.
What can I say... my mum has improved massively since coming to Riverside care home. Her balance has improved, and she is now fully continent. The staff are wonderful; they actively encourage Mum to take part in activities. As I write this, she is having her nails done. She is happier, fitter and putting weight on. The only downside - the building is dated.
The care at Riverside is excellent, thanks to dedicated and hard-working staff. My husband's needs are met in a capable and compassionate manner and I have great respect for the way in which all residents are treated. As a very frequent visitor, I am always welcomed and supported by all staff. Unfortunately, the Riverside premises are shabby and run-down and the rooms are small and functional. Clearly the strength of Riverside is the quality of it's staff.
My comment regarding poor management refers to the last 5 years. A the moment there is no permanent manager. I expect a great improvement when there is. The home is very tired and in need of refurbishment, both inside and out - rotten window frames, leaking gutters. Inside, new furniture for all rooms needed. Staff are very friendly and obviously care for their residents but there is a lack of managed organisation and the work ethic could be better. Laundry needs totally reorganising as too many of the residents' clothes are lost or damaged. Communication- management- staff - requires improvement.
My mum moved to Riverside just over a year ago and she has flourished. She is always clean and smiling now. The food is really good and the staff are excellent on Lowry Unit. It's more like a family than staff and residents. A few more staff would be good, but she is looked after well and I can leave knowing she is in safe hands.
Entertainer brought in to sing for the residents, cakes and goodies, non-alcoholic drinks provided. Great time had by all. The staff went above and beyond making everyone welcome. Lovely to see all the residents with a smile on their faces. Looking forward to the next social event.
Overall, our experience has been good. Dad has settled well, and the carers are lovely; they always update us and listen to any concerns. The food is great, with plenty of choices and snacks. The rooms are satisfactory but would benefit from new windows. We have decorated Dad's room to make it homey. Maintenance is a concern as preparing a toilet took weeks, and during a power out, there were no torches or emergency lighting available in the resident's room - management went out to purchase extra care with laundry, and cleaning would be my suggestion.
I found Riverside care home comfortable and friendly. My concerns are that they need to take care of the laundry system, clothes and bedding going missing. In my opinion the home needs a full refurbishment. The chairs are not suitable for elderly people.
In the past 12 months, the home has cared for my partner in exceptional ways. They have kept him clean, fed him well and given him respect. In my opinion, they go far beyond their duties. Nothing is too much trouble. I feel lucky to have found this establishment when I could no longer care for him, and I rest easy knowing that he is in safe hands. Thank you!
I visit my brother 5 days out of 7 and always find him to be clean-shaven, washed and dressed appropriately. The staff are always helpful and deal with any concerns I may have.
Mine and my father's experience with Riverside is a lot better than care for my father has come up tp standard 99 and a half percent. I'm happy I made the right decision to have my beloved father here, he and I have enjoyed his stay and total commitment for the management and carers. Certain staff and workers go above and beyond, which in my opinion is the correct way to look after our loved ones.
I find the room my sister is living in, not kept clean. I have now taken the role of doing my sisters washing because clothes went missing plus clothes are left on the floor in the room and many times I have asked the staff to make sure my sister wears a smoke apron, that is not always done. I have found dirty wipes plus a used nappy or undergarment left on the floor. I find with some of the staff that if a family member visits the home they should be welcomed and if possible made to relax and possibly have a cup of tea or coffee. With family members living at the home I find that depends on which staff are working the shift when I visit, overall, Riverside is not the most welcoming place.
Daycare generally good but more nursing instead of hospital visits via A&E would be appreciated. Night care needs improvement in all ways. Food and drink good. Laundry - things, socks, undies, etc. go missing. Normal clothes not returned to the right person. Slippers and shoes always going missing, although labelled.
Mum seems happy and settled at Riverside, and well cared for. Staff have to anticipate all her needs as she is unable to communicate with them. The staff are always approachable, kind and considerate.
Staff are caring and attentive and communicate well with relatives. Food appears good and staff are aware of individual residents needs. Management have monthly relative meetings where issues can be raised and action confirmed. Bedroom and lounge/dining areas are clean and welcoming.
I like it here, we are treated with respect at all times and I feel cared for. The staff are amazing and make me feel at home. There could be some improvement on food options as it has gone downhill (due to staff injury).
A very caring environment, with professional staff who work extremely hard and interact with the residents.
