View Full Details of Belong WiganThis year has started as last year ended. Great staff, all friendly and reliable. Really dedicated to their work and make my husband feel content. Belong is the best experience for residents and family.
Belong Village, Wigan has provided faultless care to my mum since she moved into a household about six months ago. The 24/7 presence of the care staff is highly reassuring and every carer takes their responsibilities seriously, getting to know the residents individually by spending time with them to understand and cater for each person's needs. The standard of care is very high and medical support is available if necessary in the form of onsite nursing staff. Fresh meals are produced three times a day within the household, to a high standard: all dietary needs are catered for and staff are flexible so Mum always gets food, even if she misses a mealtime. A convivial atmosphere is encouraged by the carers and Mum has made new friends and revived old connections since living at Belong Wigan, much to her benefit. A huge effort is put into the provision of meaningful and fun activities, including trips out in the minibus. I highly recommend this home and can't thank staff enough.
My auntie has been on Cedar Household for over a year now. We couldn't be happier with her care and without doubt, this is the best nursing care in our area. When we visit, it is like being part of a big family and we feel at home. Every member of staff is so friendly, welcoming and helpful. If, in the future, I need a nursing home, I would choose Belong Wigan.
I needed one week respite at short notice following the sudden closure of the place where I normally go. I was so lucky to find this excellent nursing home that could accommodate me in Laurel House. I was a little nervous, with it being my first stay, but I need not have worried as the care and attention I received from all the staff was second to none. I use a ceiling track hoist at home for transfers and here they used a very comfortable mobile hoist which was perfect. I had a very spacious, modern room with a profile bed and air mattress. It also had a TV, fitted wardrobes, desk, cupboards and walk-in wet room. Laurel House, like the other five 'houses' at Belong, only has eleven residents which made the lounge and dining area very cosy and homely. The food was very good both in the 'house' and also in the bistro on the ground floor. I really enjoyed my respite week and will definitely be going back in the near future. I would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful place.
My father moved into Elm in March of this year. The care team on this household are excellent and look after him very well. The manager and the staff in all other areas of the home are also very good, friendly and caring. The home is very clean and the facilities are excellent. The activities provided are good and the residents are encouraged to participate. Having visited a number of care homes in the area, this is definitely the best.
My auntie moved to Elm at the end of March this year, she has dementia and Parkinson's. The care team on Elm are amazing and have wonderful with my auntie helping her to settle in, it feels like she's part of a family rather than being in a care home. The carers are fabulous along with the cleaning team. It's a huge relief to me to know she's happy safe and well looked after, thank you to everyone at Belong Wigan, you're hard work, dedication and empathy don't go unnoticed.
My father has been in Belong Wigan for nearly three years before he very sadly passed away. The care home is excellent, from the receptionists who are welcoming and knowledgeable to the bistro staff who are friendly and provide excellent food. The care, love and support my father received in Cedar House was fabulous. My father suffered from dementia and at first, he was very active but displayed classic symptoms of sundowning in the evenings. He liked to arrange tables and chairs in the home which was sometimes annoying but the staff were always on hand to divert his attention. In his last year, Dad lost the ability to walk and he became "grumpy". He hated having to be hoisted into a wheelchair or turned to be changed. This did not put the staff off, they continued to do their best for Dad. The staff at Cedar House made our family feel part of the household - they looked after us and gave us emotional support in the challenging times. I would highly recommend Belong as a care home.
Mum was in Willow House for a year. The staff prioritised her wishes and well-being at every stage of her illness. She was always treated with dignity and kindness and during her end-of-life stage, Mum was given outstanding care, beyond what we would expect. Willow House is a home to the residents and always felt homely, very clean and everyone was very well cared for. All staff gave highly professional care. Thank you.
Everyone at Belong provides a first-class service to both residents and to their families. The household staff, in particular, are really caring, and nothing is too much trouble. The food provided is varied and nutritious. The en-suite rooms are clean, spacious and well-equipped.
Mum and Dad were both residents of Belong at the same time. The staff did everything they could to make their stay as comfortable as possible. The carers and nurses were brilliant. Special mention to the manager who helped me resolve many difficult situations involving other agencies. She was very comforting and compassionate with me at a very difficult and emotional time.
Our mum and dad didn't have much of a retirement together. Dad passed from MND at 68, then Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's six years later aged 73. After some time using home care, we thought Mum deserved the best and so found her a place at Belong. It's a wonderful place, doesn't look like a typical care home, more like a hotel. It's spotlessly clean and tidy, inside and out. The staff are amazing and care for Mum so well. We're so happy to have found the perfect place!
Many thanks to all of the carers, nurses, and management staff at Belong Wigan, for their outstanding care for my Dad, especially during the last few months when his health deteriorated before his recent passing at the start of Jun'24. We are very appreciative of everything that was done for my Dad, and also for the amazing levels of support and sensitivity that was shown to our family during the last few weeks of his life.
The village is amazing and feels like a hotel. The carers must be trained to a high standard because everyone is amazing. My mum moved into nursing care in Nov she is so happy and the staff on Laurel House and the nurses have been so feelful and explain everything so clearly. Thanks everyone who makes Belong so different.
Having looked after my dad for almost four years, we can't thank Belong staff enough for their support and care during his final weeks. Dad's dementia had seen him go from an incredibly active and lively person to someone who didn't recognise us and couldn't care for himself. Throughout this time, the only 'bright' spot in an otherwise desperately sad situation was the care, support and standards that we knew Dad was receiving 24/7. Everything from the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the environment to - and probably most importantly - the care was exemplary. Special thanks to one member of staff and her team on Elm House. Thank you so much.
My husband, who has dementia, became a resident at Belong Wigan just a month ago, and we have been so pleased with the attention and care he is being given by the staff in Laurel House. From the first time we visited, we found everyone involved in the running of Belong so friendly and caring, from reception, the bistro and the household itself, which feels homely and welcoming. There are plenty of activities available for the residents to take part in if they so choose and when relatives and friends visit, they can visit the bistro for coffee or a meal which feels like “going out” to my husband. We are so happy we chose Belong and it gives me and my family peace of mind to know he is being so well cared for and his needs are being met by all the caring staff.
One day I hope that all care homes will be like Belong. The staff are all knowledgeable and caring and put both residents and relatives at ease. Belong is a social hub for the residents with numerous events to cater for all abilities and needs. The bistro is the focus of Belong and everyone is welcomed for their amazing selection of 'home-cooked' food, the bistro staff know all the residents well. The venue is a great facility and the on-site hairdressing salon is easy to use and convenient. The carers in each household take care to cook food that is enjoyed by the residents and the environment is always spotlessly clean with capable on-site maintenance staff. The carers ensure that all residents are as comfortable as possible with strict attention to medication needs. There is good access to a GP and the on-site nursing team. There are gardens and children's facilities. The front-of-house staff and management are highly capable and approachable. I hope that I haven't left anyone out!
My dad loved his time at Belong and from starting with Experience Days last year to his end-of-life care there, I thought every aspect of the care there was amazing. I had total confidence in the staff and appreciated how they went above and beyond all the time.
I had heard about Belong from a friend who recommended them. So when Mum had an accident and needed 24-hour care we arranged for her to stay at Belong for a few months. She really enjoyed the company and the lovely care provided by the wonderful carers. Eventually Mum went back to Belong and she has had a new lease of life despite her dementia. She was reluctant at first to leave her home, but now is happy and content in her household with her friends. She joins almost all activities and has a lovely relationship with all the wonderful carers. There is always someone there day and night. The biggest thing for us is that she said she feels safe and well looked after. Every time I speak to her she says “You don’t need to worry about me love, I am being well looked after”. This means the world when you cannot visit them every day. Thank you to everyone at Belong for the care, kindness and respect you have shown to our mum.
Mum was a resident within the Belong complex for a total of six years. I can only thank all the staff especially Cedar for the care, compassion and understanding during Mum's stay. Their mood was always friendly and cheerful when I visited. Mum was very comfortable with every care needs met. A huge thank you from my wife and I to Management and staff for all they did.
