View Full Details of St George's Nursing Home (Wigan)Mum is totally dependent on the staff, who are totally dedicated to caring for the residents. Mum has been a resident at St George's Nursing Home (Wigan) for 2 and half years, throughout which time we have had no issues.
I am very pleased with the care my mother receives at St George's. The staff are friendly and respectful. She is always clean and dressed how she would wish to be if she could make her own decisions. She is well-fed and seems to enjoy her meals. I am consulted on everything concerning my mother and always informed of anything that happens out of the ordinary. As a family, we are satisfied a she is being well cared for.
My husband has been a resident at St George's Nursing Home since March 2023. He has many health complications and is very frail. During all this time, he has received excellent care from the staff. He is always treated with care and compassion by the truly professional staff as are all his family.
My dad has been in St George's since March and is well cared for. He has had a decline in health, and we feel the staff genuinely care for him. Nothing is too much trouble, and the relationships that have been built between my dad and the carers and nurses are heartwarming. As a family, we feel cared for too, and we know we can speak to the manager and deputy manager should we have any worries.
The care and love residents receive are second to none, and the relationships are plain to see between carers and residents. All staff are friendly and welcoming and work extremely hard in a difficult environment due to the high level of needs of the residents. My experience is that they go above and beyond to ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect and are well cared for. I have complete trust in both the staff and the management team. A word of caution: Do not let the exterior of the building/location put you off! From experience a 'pretty exterior and newer building' does not equate to a good level of care, and it is the level of care inside the building that is the most important.
My wife has been in St George's Nursing Home for six months and has excellent care all day, every day. I cannot find any fault with the care she is receiving. The staff are excellent and cannot be faulted.
Dad has been in this care home for four and a half years - he loves it. It is the only home where he has truly been happy and comfortable. The home is constantly improving and working with different partnerships. There are lots of activities for the residents, and as a family member, you have the opportunity to get involved in the regular Whatsapp group/meetings on Zoom. We are very happy with the care and attention our dad is receiving. Thank you.
As a family member of a resident at St George's Care Home, I am compelled to share our experience. The level of care, attention, and compassion provided by the staff at St George's is outstanding. From the moment my dad became a resident, we have been continuously impressed by the quality of care he receives. The staff are not just professionals; they are genuinely caring individuals who go above and beyond. Their approach is not only professional but also deeply empathetic. The home is well-maintained, clean, and well-equipped. What makes St George's truly stand out, however, is the sense of community and belonging they foster. It’s a place where residents are not just cared for but enjoy the quality of life that they deserve. The communication with family members is exemplary. St George's Home is a facility where excellence in care, compassion, and community come together to create a nurturing and supportive environment for its residents. I wholeheartedly recommend St George's.
My mother has been cared for by St George's for four and a half years, and in that time, I have never doubted that this is by far the best place I could have chosen. He has advanced dementia (Alzheimer's), and his care has been exceptional. He is always clean, well fed and is encouraged to take part in activities. He was admitted to hospital with Covid in 2020, where he was treated, and on returning to the home, he looked thin and pale. After two or three months, he looked well, had put on weight and was generally happy. I would certainly recommend this home for your loved one.
Absolutely made up with this care home. Mum has only just gone into St George from another care home and the difference in the way she is and her mood is amazing. The staff seem to take more care with the way they do things and how the residents are looked after. I'm happy we made the right choice as her social worker picked a different home which we deemed not suitable. As soon as we stepped into St Georges we knew and felt it was the right place for Mum to be now her needs have progressed to nursing over just residential. Staff have been welcoming and very helpful when we've asked questions. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for their loved ones a place.
Mum has been tremendously happy here after her settling-in experience. The team are wonderful with her, coping with such compassion and professionalism at some of her extreme behaviours. They always communicate well when Mum needs anything, be it care, supplies, assistance, etc. Mum feels safe and loved, which for the family is the biggest win of all. Pleased with all aspects of Mum's care and stay, and any concerns are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
My elderly mother has been a resident for over a year, and during that time, she has been looked after as though she was the Mother of each individual staff member. Every time I visited (without notice), I was most welcomed, and my bedridden Mother looked great. Her hair was always neatly cut and brushed, she was clean and enjoyed the support from all the staff. I have no complaints, only praise for the wonderful help my family and I received from St Georges. My wife has a PhD in hospice care, and she was thoroughly impressed by the care and dedication of all the staff there.
The staff are amazing, the care given to my mum and the support to us, her family cannot be faulted. My mum came to the home from the hospital and spent the last nine weeks of her life there. The medical staff were brilliant, and the manager met with us in the last two weeks, talked through everything relating to "end-of-life", asked our wishes and gave us comfort and support at this very sad time.
Overall, extremely happy with the care my gran received.
Very friendly staff and always go out of their way to help.
My grandma was transferred to the care home for rehabilitation with the plan to get her home. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated, and she was placed on end-of-life care. The time taken to explain the process to me and my parents was valuable in us coming to terms with losing my grandma. She was so well looked after both physically and psychologically - the staff were fantastic with her, and she felt safe. I cannot fault any aspect of her care, and the staff were attentive and responsive to her needs up until the very end.
My aunt turned 95 this month, and the home put on a buffet party for her and the family. It was excellent, and luckily, my aunt was in good form. The staff geared our visits in her room. The food and cake provided were brilliant and even included some wine. On her actual birthday, they decorated her room with balloons and banners. Couldn't have asked for a better day.
St George's Nursing Home staff and management are very good and really friendly, always asking if everything is ok. The food and drink are excellent and really good activities. The rooms are clean with good facilities. The overall standard is very good.
St George's is fantastic. They are caring and go above and beyond to ensure residents stay safe and well looked after. It is a difficult job, and we, as a family, thank you and appreciate all they do.
All I can say is a big thank you to the amazing and wonderful caring staff on the top floor for looking after my husband for the last few days of his life. They give 100% in everything they do, thank you.
