View Full Details of Alexandra Care HomeMy sister has been in the care home for 6 months and she has been very happy and well looked after. She has a good relationship with all the staff and enjoys their company. This is a lovely care home but the staff make it something special. By their empathy and care of all residents. They care for the family and make them welcome.
Very well organised. Very well managed. Despite the needs of the clients, it is clean, tidy and well cared for building, rooms etc. Excellent communication with relatives of clients. All staff willing to go the extra mile (this of course is primarily due to management ethos). An establishment of obvious care.
My brother was placed in Alexandra Care Home for end-of-life care in mid-July. He has told us how happy he is there and that the staff are all helpful and do attend to all his requirements both medical and personal. The food is excellent and so is his accommodation. It is comforting to me that he is so well looked after at this sad time.
We were able to get Grandad in quickly when he deteriorated. Management and staff are very friendly and supportive. Given the choice of room, nice quality rooms. He is always clean and sitting out. So far very impressed. Thank you.
On using Crisis Response for emergency respite for my mother, Alexandra Care was suggested. The purpose was to support my mother due to the family supporting Dad on his sudden end of life. On entering the building, all the staff from care support, domestic, cook and nurses became aware of the situation, listened and gave me time to discuss Mum's care needs, that she was aware of the situation, so supported my mum from day one. On losing Dad, Mum became end of life and again all staff listened and allowed myself and brother to support Mum 24 hours, giving Mum dignity and respect. Your professional, friendly and caring approach went beyond all our expectations and your concern and emotional support will not be forgotten. Thank you all.
My mum came into Alexandra Care Home on an emergency respite while our dad was dying in hospital. She came here on Monday afternoon as he died that evening. As soon as we brought her here she was met with smiling faces who all treated her and us with dignity and respect. Sadly Mum's health deteriorated and during her final days as a family, we were treated the same. Many thanks to you all!
All the staff are very helpful and friendly.
My mother is in Alexandra Care Home for respite. We normally look after her at home but she's coming to Alexandra to let us have a rest. She likes this home better than others she's used in the past and is really settled. We consider it a very clean, well-run and caring home and are happy to give the staff the highest praise.
Very good experience, very caring people.
Placing a family member into respite was never going to be an easy decision but the staff at Alexandra Care Home have gone above and beyond. They have treated Mum with dignity throughout and provided much-needed guidance and support to us as a family. Knowing Mum is safe and cared for has been a huge relief. The staff very much act as a team and clearly take time to recognise the individual areas in their care. I have been impressed by the rigour of wrap-around services and support and the team's efforts to create a happy and welcoming atmosphere at Christmas/New Year. With thanks.
Our experience to date has been very good. The staff are very good with my mother-in-law. The home is clean, the staff are caring and friendly to both my mother-in-law and to us as her family and visiting is flexible which enables us to see her every day. Her room is cleaned regularly and my mother-in-law is both safe and well cared for which is very reassuring to us. All they ask is that you do not visit during restricted times so that they can ensure residents are not distracted at mealtimes which we agree wholeheartedly with. They have social and community events on too to enable interaction and to try and keep the mind engaged.
My mother is currently being cared for in respite at The Alexandra and the staff have been very kind and welcoming to her. It was the worst feeling in the world taking her there to stay, but as soon as we got into the building, my mother and I relaxed. It is not the most modern place, but it is homely and has a nice atmosphere with furnishings fitting my mother's taste. There are plenty of staff on hand who chat to my mother all the time and check she has everything she needs. She says the food is lovely and she is fascinated how they use a chair lift to bathe her. She says she has enjoyed the activities too.
My wife has been resident at the Alexandra Care Home for four weeks following discharge from hospital. The first impression of the home when entering was found to be very welcoming from the staff and gives the feeling of quality and cleanliness throughout. The decor of her room is very tasteful and complemented by quality furnishings. The care and attention for residents from staff (even end of life) is exceptional and dignified and they are always on hand to help with anything needed.
The care and attention that my auntie received during her short time at Alexandra Care Home was fabulous. Although very confused at times and her needs great, every member of the team treated her with care, dignity and respect. For that, I would always hold the staff here in high regard.
Albeit the home is decorated nicely unfortunately the resident's rooms are extremely small box rooms. Couldn’t put mums bed in the middle of the room for lifting reasons, it was too small. The en-suite toilet doesn’t allow wheelchair access. Pointless tbh! More suitable for residential care rather than nursing in my opinion. The staff seemed nice and helpful, even handymen always looking to help.
My mother is well cared for. When I have been unable to visit due to COVID infections, most of the time I have been able to have video calls with Mum. This has enabled me to assess Mum's condition. It is sometimes difficult to get through on the phone. Any issues I have raised have been dealt with promptly.
It is most frustrating trying to get access when you have booked a visit, you can ring the doorbell for sometimes 20 minutes before you get a response. I have never got in on time. I don't understand why when your visit time is in the book? This is a problem for most visitors I have talked to.
I am full of admiration and respect for the work that the care and nursing staff carry out at the home. The biggest shortcoming overall relates to communication. It has been difficult to stay in touch with my mum, particularly during periods where no visiting has been permitted. On many occasions, it has been difficult to get through on the telephone or to contact via messenger. It would be helpful if improvements could be made in this area in future.
Overall service is good. More communication needed eg, after hospital appointments before and after. Staff always friendly and polite. Dad seems to have a good, healthy relationship with all staff.
Staff are the main reason for the good review. During the lockdown, they have kept in touch via FaaceTime and the website. My mum has been kept safe, and during recent visits, I have witnessed the kindness and care that the staff have shown to many residents. They have also shown empathy to relatives who couldn't see their relatives as often as they would like. I can't praise the staff enough. My mum is happy in Alexandra, and that my main focus.
