View Full Details of Parr Care HomeOur Mum went into the care home at age 94 following a couple of falls and deteriorated and needed an 'end of life' bed; we were so grateful that a bed became available and Mum was moved to the Home. Mum was only there for two weeks but what I can say is that every member of staff ensured that Mum was well taken care of and even though unresponsive talked to her as though she was alert and awake. The level of care she has received has been exemplary and from the first day right up to the last she was treated with a tremendous level of compassion, respect, dignity and love. Staff are very professional at all times and nothing was too much trouble. On a practical note, the home is managed to a high standard, the staff are very professional and caring. As a family we want to thank the management and their entire team for their kindness, love, understanding and most of all for being the people they are. Thank you so much.
Mum went into the care home at age 93 as she was starting to struggle with independent living. Over the past 4 years, Mum has been extremely happy living at the home. Management and all staff have been like family to her, and she has made some lovely friends with other residents. The level of care she has received has been exemplary and from the first day right up to the last she was treated with a tremendous level of, compassion, dignity and love. On a practical note, the home is managed to a high standard, the staff are very professional and caring, the rooms are lovely and spacious, the home is clean, the environment is welcoming and professional, the food is lovely and there are always activities going on for the residents which include seasonal events where the whole family can join in. There is even the occasional day out for those who can manage it. I just want to thank the management and their entire team for making my mum's final journey in life special.
My mum went into Parr Nursing Home for end-of-life care. The care that she received was outstanding and I could understand why friends and family had recommended this particular nursing Home to me. The staff did their job with a smile on their face and the care that they provided was genuine and my mum referred to them as her 'friends'. As well as the staff that had regular contact with my mum I also found the manager and the assistant manager to be very supportive. Parr Nursing Home helped my family through a difficult time and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them.
My dad loved this place, which was a big deal as he’d been living independently on his own for almost five years since Mum passed. They give the medical care needed but more importantly, the warmth and empathy so sadly lacking in many places. His time there was short but during his last few difficult weeks, I’m glad we found this place and there was a room available. We made it into a home from home and though he was too ill to venture out much, he enjoyed the odd visit to the gardens and watching the birds chirping and the bees buzzing. I have no measure to compare this place to anywhere else, but I’m very happy that Dad was able to spend his last few weeks there. The staff are lovely and management support is there whenever needed.
My 97-year-old mum spent 3 weeks respite in Parr Care Home in June 2023. It was a revelation compared to our experiences with other Care homes. Very professional, caring staff, beautiful surroundings, and were quick to keep me updated towards the end of her stay when she was a bit poorly. Fast forward 9mths and Mum was discharged from the hospital for end-of-life care. The staff were so caring, and her room was absolutely beautiful compared to the hospital environment of the previous 4 weeks. Sadly Mum passed away after only 36 hours, but we knew she was in the best place. The manager and his team are so professional, create a lovely, happy ambience within the home. Staff seem very dedicated and we have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
Two years of care in this home, our friend was admitted to this care home from another local care home due to concerns. Since admission two years ago our friend has thrived in her mental health and physical health needs. We can recommend this outstanding care home for many reasons from entering the care home and being met by management who always have time to talk to us, the home is lovely and clean, the care staff are very attentive to our friend's needs. We could not recommend it enough for anyone who is looking for a place for their relative or loved one. This is home from home and on every visit our friend has expressed how happy and contented she is. We always recommend this care home when asked by friends.
Our mum was discharged to Parr Care Home from hospital to spend the last weeks of her life in their care. We’ve been overwhelmed by the care, attention and genuine affection that was extended to Mum in every capacity. These are heartbreaking times but they have been made more manageable by the support of the team. Thank you so much. I wish there were more that we could do. Thank you.
My mother-in-law was admitted to the care home in 2016. It was the culmination of a very difficult time transitioning from independence to nursing care because of physical health needs following several admissions to general hospital and a hotchpotch of care which appeared very random and based on the availability of any bed as opposed to a bed to meet her needs. Our arrival at Parr Care Home was serendipitous, we knew of its very good reputation and they quickly assessed her and offered a bed based on a recent vacancy and their assessment of her needs. This was carried out effectively and efficiently and a bed was offered much to all our relief. The assessment was professional and needs led and the admissions process including the offer of a bed and the multi-disciplinary working (including NHS and social care) well managed. My wife and I are both registered nurses with over 70 years in the NHS, we were impressed by the standard of care throughout her care including end of life.
Parr Nursing Home took our dad in on pallative care. Since the day they took our dad in from hospital, he’s been treated absolutely wonderfully by all members of management, nurses and care providers. The care they gave to my dad was outstanding, Dad always said this is a lovely home. Unfortunately, Dad gained his wings in May but the care and compassion shown to our dad and family all through our difficult time was amazing. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts to all the loving staff, our 98-year-old dad passed in a kind and caring home. God bless you all from all his family.
My mother resided for approximately 4 weeks on end-of-life care, really impressed with the care she received. So glad we choose this home, the building and facilities are excellent and the staff, fantastic. Could not have asked for anything better for my mother. Thanks!
Where do I start? Well, I cannot thank your staff enough for the care, attention, and also love provided to my late mother for the last 21 months of her life. My mother had a life-changing stroke and required 24-hour care. I thought long and hard looking for the right care home as it's a huge worry and concern handing over their care to someone else, putting your trust into at first a stranger's hands. My mother was made to feel welcome and cared for I knew she was happy when I'd see a huge smile on her face and she would have a chuckle with the staff. They have been professional, caring, thoughtful and kind helping you as a family member to gain their trust. The manager is a wonderful man and very helpful. All the staff are competent in their roles and efficient with their resident's needs. There are also daily activities throughout the year to enjoy. Sadly I have just recently lost my mother, she passed away in March 2023, but I could not have chosen a better care home. Thank you.
Dad had his inhibitions about care homes but after he was visited in hospital by the manager and assistant manager, who made him feel at ease about the move he decided it was the right option and became a resident within a few days. He was in the end-of-life room which was both homely and spacious for visitors and staff alike. Sadly I can’t name individuals but you know who you are and we as a family can’t thank you enough for the care, dignity and attention Dad received. Sadly he passed away on 24.03 but the whole team were there to support us all and showed true compassion. Dad felt like a king the way he was treated by all involved and was appreciative to the end for all you did for him. We know now why your establishment gets the rewards and accolades it deserves and no doubt will carry on in a similar manner. Thanks again for making Dad's last few months with you comfortable and for all the support we have been given especially over the last few weeks more so with restrictions in place.
Very poor management. Dismissive, evasive, unsupportive, defensive, no control of staff. The excuse is you can’t get the staff! Senior nurses are rude, lacking in compassion, defensive, and judgemental. Care is intermittent. Very judgemental and struggle to separate personal feelings from care. Most carer staff try to do their best with limited staffing and are caring. Poor treatment of personal items. No activities. Room doors are always shut. Never go out. Senior staff is reluctant to participate in care when staffing is strained. I would strongly avoid this home unless your loved one is in residential need only and can mostly care for oneself. Nursing care is extremely poor. Reluctant to provide support during meal times due to staffing issues. Good points! Large rooms, good size en-suite toilet. Lovely large garden areas. The home is clean and maintained well. Excellent meals. Very friendly careers. Fabulous cleaning staff.
One of the best care homes. The staff are so friendly and treat my dad with respect. The home is spotless, credit to the cleaners, and lovely meals - cannot fault it. The rooms are lovely and they even let my dad put satellite TV in, nothing is too much trouble.
My partner spent a month in respite while I went on holiday. The standard of care is excellent. All the staff were very good, nothing too much trouble. He has stayed there before and I would recommend Parr Nursing home. I knew I could go away knowing he was well cared for and it gave me peace of mind knowing he was safe and secure. When I rang up to check he was alright I spoke to the nurse she gave me peace of mind and informed me of how he had been. All staff were very friendly and polite. The home was kept clean.
My father only spent 10 days in the care of Parr Nursing Home having been admitted for end of life care. The standard of care he received was above excellent. The professionalism, care and compassion shown by all the staff are exemplary. My brother and I were welcomed into the home to spend time with our Dad in his last days and even with current restrictions we were very well looked after and supported. It is obvious the home is very well run and has the highest quality standards, it maintains a homely atmosphere, it is clean and quiet and there was always plenty of staff available when Dad needed anything. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been offered a bed at Parr Nursing Home to look after our Dad in his final days.
My family and I had visited several local home before visiting Parr Nursing Home. Our father had been in and out of hospital and we knew he could not remain at home. However, we managed to keep him at home until a place became available and we are so glad we did. I cannot put into words the level of care shown to dad during what was an extremely traumatic time for us all. The home is spotless and extremely well staffed but more than that, it is the people who work there who make the difference. I am not sure what recruitment process the matron uses when recruiting but she must focus on the most important attributes of kindness, empathy and a caring nature because everyone there displayed these attributes each and every day. All the staff, including nurses, carers and housekeeping staff know all the residents and always have time to chat and joke with the residents and it is genuine. The home is run like a tight ship by Matron with the residents interests at its heart.
My mum went into Parr for respite care, she went home and requested to go back into Parr the next day. Lucky for us the bed was still available. My mum was a hospital nurse and always said she would never go into a care home but the staff made her feel so welcome and looked after her as if she was one of there own family. She was treated with care and compassion until she died. The home is well led by a Matron who is very approachable and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Parr to anyone.

Just like to recommend this nursing home to anyone who needs one for a family member or friend. Although my sister was only in for a week before she passed away, she had the very best of care and attention. My sister's room was like a you would find in a good hotel, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
