My mum moved into the home in July. Staff good. Welcoming. Care for mum's needs.
My husband has been in Elm House for a few years now, he has Gerstmann's syndrome with Alzheimer's. He is totally dependent on the carers and nurses who look after him. I visit every day. He always looks clean-shaven, fresh clothes etc. I cannot praise the management, carers, nurses, kitchen staff, laundry staff and cleaners enough for their professional conduct, humour, kindness and excellent care my husband receives.
I couldn't wish for a better home for my 87-year-old mother, who is totally bed-bound. She has been there for 17 months, and she is happy in her room. The management and staff look after her as if she is a member of their own family. It has been very hard during this time of lockdowns and Covid, and the staff have done an excellent job keeping everyone safe. Many thanks to everyone at Elm House.
My husband recently spent the last two weeks of his life in Elm House Nursing Home. I cannot praise Matron and all her staff for the loving care he received while he was there. It was amazing, as well as the support given to myself and our family. It made such a difference to what was a very difficult time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Elm House, and if ever I need residential nursing care, I know where I would want to be.
After suffering a stroke and catching Covid whilst in hospital, Mum was discharged into the care of Elms House. Although my mum's time with them was short, the care and commitment they gave my Mum were unrivalled. Every day we went to see Mum, it was very evident how well she was being taken care of. She was always clean, smelled nice and had clean clothes on. Her fingernails had been cleaned and cut, and her hair was always brushed. It was quite clear the staff actually cared. Sadly, Mum passed away, but even after this sad event, the staff had continued to show Mum care and respect. Mum looked lovely at her passing, and they had even taken the time to put Mum in nice clothes and even changed her bed. They had really made a difficult time much easier to bear. Under this leadership, I can only speak very highly of every member of staff we saw and spoke to, and would definitely recommend this home to anyone - I have even booked my place when the time is ready.
My partner was in Elm House for end of life care. We were allowed to visit after the staff and residents had tested negative for Covid 19. We were given the correct PPE and taught how to wear and remove it safely. There were a higher proportion of nurses to residents than in many homes. The matron and nurses were wonderful. They explained what was happening and patiently answered all of our questions. The assistants were kind, not just to my partner but to us. Everyone at the home seemed to enjoy working there and looking after the residents and their families. There was a lovely atmosphere in the home.
The Nursing Home is a warm and caring environment and the staff are completely focused on providing the best care possible for the residents. My mother went to Elm House for palliative care and immediately settled thanks to the warm welcome and excellent care she was given. She described it as living in a hotel! I would have no hesitation in recommending Elm House for your loved one as I have witnessed the care and compassion by all staff alike
Choosing a care home for a loved one is like choosing a first school for your child. Will they be happy, what are the reports like, what are the facilities like etc etc etc, and you still walk away in tears. Having looked around at several care homes, including so-called "posh ones" my family and I visited Elm House, on behalf of our Father who was in the latter stages of life. From the moment we stepped through the door we knew that this was the right place for him. The staff are so kind and understanding and the place is spotless. Nothing was to much trouble either for our Father or us as a family. Every step of the way we were kept informed and consulted. I genuinely could not single out one particular member of staff as being exceptional, they all are. Dad passed away peacefully surrounded by people who cared for and loved him, my family and I are so grateful to you all, thank you. This is not a care home, it is an Oasis of Kindness.
