View Full Details of Halcyon HouseFrom our very first visit to Halcyon House, it was obvious that the staff took considerable pride in their roles and the residents were treated with compassion, respect and dignity. It is small, warm and sociable, which made it an easy decision to choose it as my mum's new home. She was rather poorly before she arrived, however, after a little coaxing she is now eating, becoming stronger every day and has settled-in well, a testament to the hard-working, kind, compassionate and professional staff. The management and staff are friendly, extremely approachable, and keep us fully updated with all her care information, which is settling as we do not live locally and are not able to visit her as frequently as we would like. In the short time that mum has been at Halcyon, we are extremely confident that mum is safe, comfortable and settled in her new surroundings. Thank you very much for all you do for mum.
My friend has been at Halcyon House for 16 months and has received exceptional care from the beginning of her stay. It wasn't an easy decision when she moved in but it was definitely the right decision. She has enjoyed the company of new friends with both residents and all the carers welcoming her into the fold. She has been dearly loved by all. She has enjoyed sitting in the sun room watching the world go by as much as joining in the various entertainment and activities. I was able to rest assured that all was well towards the end of her life, at 95 she received both professional and caring palliative care. I was kept informed at all times and can only thank all concerned. I would recommend Halcyon House to everyone.
Really pleasant environment for my sister. Staff are so attentive and caring. The improvement we've seen in her is exceptional. Knowing how well she's looked after and how content she seems to be has relieved me of so much stress. A particular member of staff provides all information etc really clearly and promptly. Great place.
Any care home ought to be judged, not promptly by the state of the building or facilities, but by the community of people involved. At Halcyon House, the staff and residents respect the individual needs of each other in every situation. From the top management to the student nurse they offer their hands if friendship as well as their professional competence and experience.
My mum arrived at Halcyon House for end-of-life care but the staff provided so much more. Mum always looked clean and comfortable whenever we visited, all her care needs were met, but equally important, everything was done with compassion, respect and dignity. When I had to tell staff that Mum was in pain, (when visitors are with a resident, the staff keep a discreet distance but are available through the buzzer) the nurse would come quickly, speak to Mum herself to assess the situation, then respond appropriately. When Mum wasn't eating, (although the meals looked and smelled good), the carers tried to encourage her by offering different things. Mum was quite weak when she arrived at Halcyon but she was encouraged and helped to join in some of the various activities and events that had been arranged. After visiting, I had great peace of mind and felt that I had left Mum in good hands, that she was well cared for. I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend Halcyon House.
My aunt just left Halcyon House after seven weeks of respite care. Prior to going there, she had been very poorly and care at home had become increasingly difficult. The manager showed me around HH and was very sympathetic as I was upset, but I left reassured that this was the best option. Thanks to the efforts of all the staff at Halcyon House after a couple of weeks she had settled very well, was eating well and began to show an interest in things in general. Every effort was made to coax her into doing things to interest her, and into doing things she maybe resisted but fully enjoyed in the end. She also enjoyed the Summer Fayre and enjoyed the live 60s music, whilst having tea and cake. She has now returned home to see how she fares with increased care calls, knowing that trusty carers will be in regularly. However, leaving Halcyon House was quite a difficult decision for her and she may well decide to return there in the future. I would recommend Halcyon House 100% Thanks to all.
Since her arrival eight months ago at Halcyon House my mother-in-law has loved her new home. The care, companionship, food, and surroundings have exceeded our expectations. The activity programme an inclusion of family and friends to events has been outstanding. It has been creative, innovative and has provided a central focus to life at Halcyon House. In addition the monthly update, both detailed and attractive has allowed all the family to be involved. Congratulations to the whole Halcyon House.
Mum has settled in so well in her new home and is enjoying every day of her time there. She cannot speak highly enough of all of the staff who support and fulfil her needs. We have been very impressed with the care home and environment, especially the activities provided by the Halcyon House team. An exceptional place for her latter years.
My mother has been in Halcyon House since 9/1/2022. We are so pleased with the care she receives at 97. She cannot walk and needs a wheelchair but the carers do a great caring job. Take her down to dining room for meals and the entertainment is great. Thank you to all the staff who do a great job. Work very hard under pressure at times. Very pleased with the nursing home. Keep up the good work. Thank you again.
We have been very pleased with every aspect of Halcyon House Care Home. The professional and friendly staff have made it a pleasure for us under the circumstances.
My mother received excellent care in the final four weeks of her life. Knowing she was being looked after so well gave us tremendous comfort when we were not able to be with her. I cannot thank the staff enough for what they did to look after both her and us.
My dad was transferred to Halcyon House after being in the hospital for three months. My dad was only here for two and a half weeks as he was end-of-life. I can't thank the staff enough for the care, support and empathy they gave my dad. We could come and go as much as we wanted! They gave my dad the most comfortable last weeks of his life.
Dad was welcomed warmly and shown the utmost care and kindness from all staff throughout his stay.
All the staff without exception are extremely kind, caring, attentive and nothing is too much trouble to both my husband and myself and for every category I have put excellent which is no exaggeration.
I was delighted by the care my husband received in what turned out to be the last weeks of his life. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous to me, and in fact it was a pleasure to visit my husband in these surroundings. As his life drew to an end the care and concern were beyond praise for both him and me.
My dad received a terminal diagnosis following tests and an extended stay at our local hospital. With his appraisal, he was placed at Halcyon House formally for palliative care. The care he has received at Halcyon House has been excellent. The staff are genuinely caring people, they do all they can to make his last few months as bearable as possible. I can't thank Halcyon House enough for all they do for Dad.
Covid pandemic has changed everything for resident and her visitors. Visits are essential for residents well-being and are irreplaceable.
I visit the resident once a week for allocated half-hour as her 'named' visitor while Covid restrictions continue to allow visits in residents own rooms. Staff are very polite and friendly. I am told the varied food offered each meal time is excellent. The activities coordinator is very much appreciated by my friend I visit. I cannot comment on 'value for money' as I do not know the charges in this resident I visit.
My mum has been in Halcyon House since 2016. I am very pleased with the level of care my mum receives. She is always clean and comfortable when I visit.
We have always felt that our mother was well cared for at Halcyon House and that she was safe and comfortable. The staff always appeared caring and attentive, and this was demonstrated during her final days when their consideration for our family and for Mum's dignity could not have been bettered. They went out of their way to see that all of our needs were met, and we shall always be grateful.
