View Full Details of Lyndale Nursing HomeMy mother was a resident at Lyndale for 2 years before she passed away in mid-August this year 2024. The care and compassion she received throughout her stay as her dementia got worse was wonderful. The staff and management attention was exemplary. Being in a smaller home, my mother got the consistency and regularity of care and nursing that she needed, as changes made it difficult for her to process due to dementia. The home is well-kept, the gardens are amazing and beautiful. There was always something going on for the residents, lots of different activities, from quizzes to walks out. I have given 5 stars across the board as I could not think of anything that I saw/experienced that warranted a slight reduction. I would not hesitate in recommending Lyndale to anyone considering a home in Southport.
After 10 very difficult weeks in hospital my husband was allowed to move into a Nursing Home. Several people had highly recommended Lyndale and we knew why as soon as we walked in. There was such a friendly, homely and peaceful atmosphere. There are not enough superlatives to describe the amazing staff. It was a delight for me and our two sons to see Dad being so well looked after and we just wish that he had been able to move there earlier. Sadly, he passed away after just 3 weeks but we felt that he was kept as comfortable as possible thanks to the excellent care he was given. The family also received wonderful support from all of you, keeping us well-informed about his treatment. In only 3 weeks we felt that we had become friends of you all and welcomed your kindness and support at a very difficult time. We will have no hesitation in recommending Lyndale to our friends.
My father was a resident here for three and a half years. He died recently. The care he received was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble, particularly his last days. The nursing staff were marvellous with him. He could be fussy about his food but he did admit he enjoyed his food at Lyndale which is praise indeed. He had lost most of his sight so life was challenging for him but the staff were always there for him. He enjoyed the quizzes and usually got good marks. Two of the staff very kindly took Dad into town where he met a princess when she came to Southport in September 2023. Everyone at Lyndale was so kind and caring. I cannot thank them or praise them enough. The staff were always cheery and very supportive. The Lyndale is a superb home in every way. I cannot thank them enough for all their care and support.
I cannot praise and thank all the staff highly enough. Mum was admitted in July 2023, following a 9-week harrowing ordeal in hospital. Every aspect of her care was of such a high calibre that within weeks the delirium had all but gone and she was winning the activities manager's quizzes! Her mobility also improved to the extent that she did a good impression of the road runner flashing past on her zimmer. Mum really enjoyed it when the activities manager read to her and helped her with her talking books. The nursing staff were very efficient at addressing Mum's medical needs and providing effective medications. The staff were always genuinely caring, compassionate, patient and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble. They truly are one big family and eventually allowed Mum to pass peacefully and with dignity whilst in their excellent care. The Lyndale is a 5 star care home in every way, I wholeheartedly recommend them and can't thank them enough for all their care and support.
My dad moved into the Lyndale in September 2023, initially for respite, and my mum and I could not have been more happy with the care my dad received while a resident. Sadly, his health declined whilst he was at the Lyndale and he ended up staying there for 10 weeks. The staff were absolutely brilliant with him. The nursing staff showed a true concern for his health and ensured that he received the best possible care for his many health conditions. The care staff treated him with respect and good humour which he responded to well. It was also really lovely to be told that in his final days, one of the home's managers had been sat with my dad reading poetry to him. The love and care that all the staff have for the residents could not be more clear. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Lyndale as a nursing home. My dad was so happy there and we were so happy with the care he received whilst there. A big big thank you to all the staff.
Mum was apprehensive about going to live in a home so a four week rest-bite period was arranged, after about three weeks Mum decided that she was happy and wanted to stay. The communication between all parties is excellent and we believe the care is first class. One of the main reasons Mum wanted to stay was the staff, she enjoys the friendly environment and likes to see the same faces on a regular basis. The food is of a high standard and the personal hygiene and attention is excellent. The costs are competitive and in line with the competition.
It was such a relief when mum moved to the Lyndale Nursing Home last August following a month in hospital, as it was clear that she was going to be very well cared for. On the day of admittance she was mum again; clean and tidy, smelling of soap with newly washed hair and nails. For the first time in many stressful weeks I knew that she was safe and in good hands. The staff are lovely and caring, very professional, and have mum’s health and welfare as a priority. They offer a friendly and supportive environment and give real peace of mind. I feel that the Lyndale provides as close as you can get to a loving family outside of your own home! The home itself is clean and welcoming, with freshly prepared meals and lots of activities for residents. It is so lovely to hear laughter and music coming from the residents’ lounge. I am so grateful to everyone for the love and care they show to mum and am certain that she couldn’t be in a better place. I have no hesitation in recommending the Lyndale.
The staff at Lyndale Nursing Home proved exemplary care for my wife. They attended to her needs with the utmost respect and dignity factoring into account who she was prior to her illness. On behalf of my family, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all the staff.
Thank goodness we found Lyndale to care for my husband, who has MND. The place is homely, spotless and very welcoming. The staff are genuinely caring, professional and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and he and I are treated with respect and consideration. The food is very tasty and nutritious. I highly recommend this nursing home for excellent care and peace of mind.
Dad was admitted to hospital for four weeks and we were advised dad could not return home. We knew we needed to put him in a nursing home and having viewed two homes already it was 3rd time lucky for us to find Lyndale. It was like home from home. All staff were so polite and caring and made our decision in leaving dad there so easy. The home was spotless, always cheerful and warm. He hadn't been there 24 hours and he had been shaved, washed, nails cut and aftershave applied. Nothing was too much trouble to any of the staff. The respect and empathy they showed my dad and my family was fantastic. Dad was hostile some days but nothing seemed to phase them. Unfortunately, dad was on end-of-life care and was only there for three weeks. But in those three weeks he was well cared for, a continuation of the care we had given him at home. The support and love we, as a family were shown on his passing, was so caring and professional. I would not hesitate in recommending this home to anyone.
My mother was a resident of Lyndale Nursing Home for almost three years. Lyndale has a wonderful atmosphere. When I visited mum I would always be greeted with lovely smiles from all the staff. The home is spotlessly clean. The staff go above and beyond. There are constant activities for the residents and a cheery atmosphere. The food are home-cooked meals and they will make something special for individual residents if needed. During the last weeks of my mother's life, I cannot stress how wonderful the staff were both with mum and myself. Amazing is the only word I can use to describe this lovely home.
Having been thrown into finding a care home for our mum very suddenly we can’t believe how lucky we have been. Lyndale is an excellent home-from-home residence. Mum has had a very tough year and the staff are always there for her (and me) when she needs them. If you are reading this review because you need care for a family member then don’t think twice, call the Manger or the Administrator and they will help you straight away. Lyndale feels like a family!
We moved Mum to Lyndale after an awful experience with another home. After visiting numerous homes, we finally found the Lyndale. From the moment we walked through the door, everything felt absolutely right. Genuine compassion, dignified care and superb staff and management are what sets Lyndale out from the rest. It's honestly the most settled we've seen Mum in a long time and has removed the daily worry the family had previously of how Mum was coping.
My mum moved into Lyndale Nursing Home 2 months ago after a bad experience at a previous care home and we are very happy with the care mum is getting at Lyndale. She has settled very well thanks to the wonderful care by all the staff. We are always made very welcome when we visit mum, for the 1st time in a long while we feel that we don’t have to worry as we know mum is being well looked after with care and dignity.
Since my mother has been in Lyndale Nursing Home she has been treated with care and dignity. All the staff are caring and attentive. My mother states that the food is lovely and enjoyable. Visiting is very flexible which is great for the family to visit when they can. This appears to be a very caring environment where nothing is too much trouble.
Excellently managed with a superb and caring staff who genuinely care about their residents and are passionate about their work. I have complete confidence that my mother, who has complicated health issues is in the best possible care. Highly recommended.
My mother went into Lyndale Nursing Home on 23 March 2021 after three weeks' respite care following a fall at home. When I contacted the home to enquire if any rooms were available it was the manager's day off but she rang me back within 15 minutes to arrange for me to go and view the two rooms that were available the following afternoon. I have been so impressed with the care my mother has received from the minute she arrived at the home and all the staff there have been so caring and patient with Mum as she has come to terms with no longer being in her home. They have also helped me enormously when I have been trying to explain to her why certain things need to be done to help her and give her peace of mind. I cannot thank them enough.
Lyndale Nursing Home was the only home that would take my wife into care for respite. After a month in care it was clear I would not be able to take care of her at home (she was diagnosed with mixed dementia). From then on I got full support from the nursing home regards to all aspects of her health needs, to start with she became very agitated and I became very upset with the whole situation. Since then we have moved on a few months, she has moved into a larger ground floor room much and she has settled in very well. I could not have asked for better care from all the staff at Lyndale, they bend over backwards to ensure she is comfortable. Visiting has been a big problem, but I am encouraged to phone up any time to enquire about my wife, I always get good feed back and this can put my mind at rest. Thank you to all the staff at Lyndale Nursing Home.
Our mum has not long moved into Lyndale from a home where we felt her needs were no longer being met sufficiently to make us feel comfortable leaving her there. Lyndale was highly commended by a family friend who is a healthcare professional. Our family cannot thank the staff enough for the turn around in our mother's mental and physical wellbeing; they have certainly brought her back from the edge. Their nursing care is way above "duty and functional care" and appears to be all about humanity, dignity and great nursing practices, Mum has blossomed in the short time she has been with them. They have done all they can to facilitate contact with her during the pandemic and its never too much trouble to hand the phone over to Mum for a quick reassuring chat - for both her and us. They have managed to engage her in some activities which are both stimulating and which circumvent her dementia and settled her down into her new home very quickly. Staff are nothing short of miracle workers!

When not in lockdown, I usually visit in time for Fish Friday! The food is tasty and varied, with little twists, like the addition of a heart shape chocolate on Valentine's day. So thoughtful. I can't recommend this home highly enough.
