View Full Details of Manchester HouseI have found the staff at Manchester House caring and professional. My wife is being treated with dignity.
The residents are enjoying sitting in the garden with ice cream on a sunny day. We've had a lovely afternoon to cheer up the wet weather. The entertainment officer gets the residents moving and they all look forward to morning exercise. Keep up the good work, such a change for the better.
The staff are friendly and create a good environment.
Our mother was only at Manchester House Nursing Home in Southport for a month at the end of her life and a very difficult time for our family. During her stay the care and attention given was exceptional. All of the staff are so very kind, thoughtful, patient, and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble, day or night, and we honestly cannot recommend this home highly enough. It is never easy putting a loved one into care and something most of us find stressful. However, our experience was consistently positive and we would therefore like for other families to know and feel assured when choosing a care home that this one is one of the best. During the final days of our mother's passing, the head nurses on duty were showing so much compassion that it really helped the whole family feel at peace. Too many other wonderful staff to name but with heartfelt thanks to all of those working at Manchester House.
One carer is a good loving lady, she only works weekends. She always gives me a shower and takes her time I trust her a lot. I do have a shower in the week but can't wait for her, she a good listener. Very caring.
Very friendly and helpful staff who made me feel welcome at a very difficult time. The room was clean, with plenty of room for an electric wheelchair and a lovely view of Blackpool! Set in lovely grounds.
We cannot comment on food as our son is unable to discuss with us. Social services pay for him, we are unable to answer costs etc. Present management is excellent. Progress made in sorting out everything. Any problems, once discussed, are sorted. No complaints.
I visited my aunt this week. What a big difference over the last few months. The manager and all the team are caring and always available when needed. The kitchen staff were interacting with residents and family. Activity staff were in the lounge doing a quiz and having coffee morning. My aunt's room is lovely and has a private patio door into a garden. My aunt is very happy here.
My mum has always been happy here. The staff are caring and friendly. The activities that are put on are always fun and as inclusive as possible. Never had any concerns about my mum being cared for here.
During my visit to Manchester House for my friend I observed a big improvement in general conditions for my friend. He has a brain injury and Manchester House is his second placement. In Manchester House, he looks nice and happy, looked after well. He was able to sit independently in a chair. He told me that the staff are very caring for him and helped him to get physiotherapy. He told me that since he came to Manchester House his condition is very stable. I notice that it is very friendly in Manchester House.
My time at Manchester House was enjoyable and I was well cared for. Below the knee left leg amputee, I got on well with all the nurses and care staff.
No problems, the staff are great and I've always been well looked after. I've been happy during my stay here.
Manchester House in my experience is poorly run and maintained and the care isn't of great quality. After an accident at the home, Mum wasn't well cared for and her medical records surrounding the care she received were minimal at best. The home could not accurately state what care she received during the time of the accident and the ambulance arriving many hours later. Management of the home falsely informed me that medical reports had been returned to them and indicated Mum was absolutely fine by email. When later challenged this turned out this medical check and subsequent report never happened. The staff do not use person-centred language when dealing with residents. The COVID-19 mask-wearing policy was not followed with staff either not wearing masks or wearing them under their chins even during an outbreak. I would not recommend this home to anyone thinking of placing a loved one here.
All staff were caring and helpful. I felt all my aunty's needs were cared for.
Excellent care and support for my mum during her time in respite care at Manchester House. Probably, like most people, I was anxious about a loved one going into a care home, albeit for a temporary stay. However, I found all the staff there (management, administration, nursing, care, cooking, laundry staff and others) to always be extremely friendly and helpful. What impressed me the most was the kindness shown, and that was evident from everyone I met there. To see my mum's face light up was lovely - whether it be from a simple smile, a cheerful conversation, a passing 'hello, how are you?' or times where the staff would patiently sit with Mum or help stimulate conversations or engage her with subjects and activities she is interested in - such as birds and nature programs, musicals etc. Thank you.
My stay in Manchester House so far has been ok. I made some great friends with other residents and staff. While I have been here for the last two and a half years I was able to continue my normal life like still playing football for my hometown club and socialising with my family. Although I like this home looking forward to the day when I will be able to have my own place.
I have been in this home for about five years and feel settled and made some good friends in this home. Sometimes it can be challenging with agency staff but permanent staff are ok and friendly. I just returned from a short hospital stay and am glad to be back.
My Mum passed away on 30th November after spending over 5 years in this home. We were called in as she was deteriorating and as soon as we got there we were told that only 2 people could go in to see her. She has 3 children, but this didn't matter. My brother spent a few mins with Mum before going to sit in the car. One of the nurses came in and I said my mum was in discomfort. She replied I think I know your Mum better than you. We were then told we couldn't stay with mum as there was covid in the home. We asked why we couldn't stay. Mum was in her own room with a toilet, so we didn't need to leave the room. We got told No you have to leave now. As you can imagine how we were all feeling when we had to leave our dying mum and could not be with her when she passed. A few hours later my brother got a call to say she had passed away. This home is a disgrace, they have no humanity. This was an extremely distressing experience for my family and my mother.
Not a very relaxing environment - noisy, music and a gentleman in the courtyard shouting obscenities whilst his hands were down his trousers. Room is very sparse and in need of refurbishment. No food given all day - not taken out of bed at all. Lots of staff did not speak English and very difficult for patients and relatives to communicate basic needs.
My mother passed away on the 7th of April 2022. She had been a resident of Manchester House since September last year when after a hospital visit she was unable to return to her previous home. Mum was bedbound after the hospital stay and needed extensive care due to dementia and the inability to move without a lot of help. The staff have been exceptional in their knowledge and care, always preserving Mum's dignity in very difficult circumstances as she was by now double incontinent. This time was made bearable for me because of the professionalism and human kindness of the staff and especially the manager.
