View Full Details of Windy Knowe Nursing HomeWindy Knowe is a beautiful home, beautiful gardens as well as staff. All of the staff are 100% passionate, a smile always on their face (happy). Very thorough, kind, caring, nothing a problem. Lots of stimulation with residents, activities, ponies, dog visits, excellent. Amazing communication with families. Could not ask for more. Food excellent, cleanliness excellent and care exceptional. Thank you, you're all the best ever, genuine and true stars.
This has to be the best home I have ever been to. My father was moved in due to having an above-knee amputation. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My parents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. They provided us with a private room to celebrate in. They surprised them with a cake, card, flower and a bottle of prosecco. They are the most caring staff I have ever known and my dad happily calls it home.
We feel our family member is well looked after and always clean. His room is clean and tidy. The staff are always friendly and keep us updated.
We feel our relative is well looked after. he is always clean, his room is clean and tidy. All staff are friendly and keep in touch with us to let us know if he's had a fall or is unwell, etc.
Windy Knowe is such a wonderful place. The manager and her team are such caring professionals to my very challenging father. Nothing is too much and I am kept informed about everything. I rest assured in complete confidence.
My father was a resident for six months before his death, and although suffering from dementia, he was still very aware of his surroundings. The staff looked after him with such love and care that I could not believe that such wonderful people existed. They made the last months of his life incredibly happy, which took so much pressure off me. The staff treated him like family and cried when he passed away. I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done.
My 97-year-old mother came to Windy Knowe two years ago. She is very happy and well looked after, my mother has a lovely room which is adequate for all her needs which in turn gives the family peace of mind. I can visit when I need to and the staff and management are fantastic.
You here a lot of bad publicity at times with regards to care homes. Windy Knowe is a fantastic care home that was recommended to me for my dad. I often hear the staff engaging with the residents and on a number of occasions when walking down the corridor to see my dad you can hear them laughing in their rooms and this is lovely to see. I have not had any issues with the service Windy Knowe provide but I am sure that if I had a concern then the team would act on it as it is my belief that they want to deliver 100% every time.
Windy Knowe is a lovely care home, with friendly and caring staff. I feel Mum is well looked after and well fed. Overall I am very pleased with the care that is provided. Only areas of concern are the amount of agency staff that have been in attendance this last month. It's very difficult for somebody with dementia to cope with having somebody different every day attending to them, they get used to seeing the same people. I would also say that an area we've had issues with is the laundry. Clothes going missing, ending up in other residents' rooms even though every item of clothing is labelled, so this should not happen. I was appalled to see Mum wearing a pair of men's black underpants! These should not have even been in her room, for the carers to access. Apart from the above small issues I would definitely recommend Windy Knowe to others and have no real concerns over safety and care.
Home is clean, staff are helpful and friendly. Redecoration was taking place some disruption to residents' routines. My brother is being well looked after and has settled in well with the help of all of the team at Windy Knowe.
My mum has been attacked five times since she has been here by two different male residents, the last two incidents on the same day and they didn't inform us about the first incident where a nurse and management lacked duty of care leading to my mum getting brutally attacked and a broken hip. Residents are left walking around wet and my mum left for hours in her underwear covered in faeces witnessed by another resident's family member. Residents have unnecessary falls, I have seen a 1-2-1 carer dragging her resident up after a fall by his arms. Tea time food is always cling filmed and cold most times. I have spoken with the manager a few times regarding this and nothing has been done. Residents are not taken outside by staff. If staff don't bring residents downstairs they are isolated to their bedroom or hallway as Springcare turned the 2 lounges and dining room into more bedrooms. Not one person from Windy Knowe has asked how my mum is or sent their apologies. Windy Knowe is now redecorating since we put our complaint in, go figure.
My dad spent 6 months at Windy Knowe prior to his passing in August 2023. Dad suffered from Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia which, towards the end of his life, led to long hospital stays and complex care needs. When all other Dementia nursing homes turned us away, the Manager of Windy Knowe invited my dad into their home with open arms. The home was warm, friendly, and peaceful, which suited dad's needs. His room, albeit basically furnished, was a good size, was kept clean, and looked out over the beautiful garden. All the staff at Windy Knowe, from management, care staff, catering, cleaners, handyman and kitchen staff should be commended. They are genuinely lovely, caring people who looked after dad like one of their own. Right up until the end he was treated with the dignity and respect he deserved. The staff are by far what makes this care home a special place and we will be eternally grateful to them all for the care and love they gave to my dad during his time there.
My mother is well looked after and cared for. She has been at Windy Knowe Nursing Home since April 2021. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Management are approachable and easy to talk to. I have full confidence in the level of care and service provided.
Our Dad has been at Windy Knowe since March 2022. His Dementia presentation was challenging on a holistic level. He was defensive on behaviours, taking medication, sleeping and eating. His overall health has improved so much since he has been here. This has surprised our family so much, as we were fully aware of where this journey goes, so an improvement in his overall health has been unexpected. We lost our Mum in this period, and we (as a family) received hands-on support from staff, even as this news was delivered to our Dad. This caused a problematic and emotional response in Dad that was managed brilliantly by all of the staff and strategies were put in place to help him through this difficult period. We, as a family, speak so highly of this home, and never expected that we could feel our Dad would be so at peace in this period of his life. Thank you all at Windy Knowe, particularly the senior staff who set the tone and the culture of respect and care here.
My grandma was admitted and spent the last three weeks of her life here. I was in every day, met a lot of the staff and I cannot praise them enough. They are incredibly caring, gentle, loving and attentive. They made sure my grandma had everything she needed and more. When they didn't have the food she wanted in, the staff went out to buy the soups she wanted, encouraging her to eat (she was an end-of-life cancer patient so didn't eat a lot). They laughed and joked with her to keep her spirits up, as she loved a good laugh. Even observing them with the other residents, you can see the staff really care about them. One member of staff would always stroke my grandma's head when she was seeing to her, to keep her calm. The nurses I knew were perfect with her, reassuring her when they administered her medication. When we lost her, the nurse with us was so caring, staying with us until she went, even giving my mum a hug when she looked lost. This home really cares for their residents and the family!
My mum was in the home for only 13 days since leaving the hospital, but the care and consideration shown to her were excellent. She passed away with dignity and was at peace. Can not thank the home enough; they are angels.
Dad was left on several occasions walking bare feet in urine on the floor, uncared for with no access to toilets, and had to demand an ambulance when my Dad was left dying in the chair. All discussed with the manager and they weren't bothered to address any of my concerns. Would never ever let any of my family or friends go anywhere near here and even some staff that left agreed with me.
My wife has been a resident in Windy Knowe Nursing Home for almost four years where she is receiving excellent care. Two weeks ago I was informed that she was suffering from a chest infection. On my arrival, it was agreed to ask the doctor to attend. After his examination, he told me the prognosis was poor. During this difficult time, all the staff involved, up to and including the manager, were professional, caring and attentive. One carer stayed with my wife overnight. Happily, the medication was effective and she recovered. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness and expertise during this worrying time.
As a family, we looked at many care homes (15 in total) and Windy Knowe stands out far above the rest in every way; the staff and management are excellent. The home has a very good feel and atmosphere, this is all down to the staff and management, everyone is friendly, caring and understanding, they also understand what our mum's individual needs are and ensure that they are fulfilled in every way. Mum is very happy, very settled and safe after moving into Windy Knowe. After spending 60 years in her family home we were all worried about how long it would take for mum to settle into her new life but mum has settled in so quickly, and mum has exceeded everyone's expectations. This is down to mum and the management and staff helping mum settle in, it now feels like mum has always lived there.
Mum had lived in her house for 60 years and never even spent a night in a hotel room on her own. Mum had received good care at home during the day from a carefully chosen team of carers and family. Mum then needed 24-hour care. I viewed 15 care homes in Liverpool but I felt that I could not leave Mum in their care. Windy Knowe from the management to all the staff I have met, from day one Mum settled really quickly, and the care team made Mum feel so welcome. Ensuring that Mum was receiving the attention and care she required. That Mum's food preferences were addressed. The TV is on and a good choice of programmes to watch and music played regularly all in the lounge. Mum is so happy, a fab choice of food, it really does have a family feel. The residents have a balance of entertainment for residents of different capabilities and family events also. Mum has a curly blow dry every week. I am very focused on Mum's care, ensuring all care plan needs are addressed, nothing is too much trouble.
