View Full Details of Woodheath Nursing & Residential HomeMum lived at Woodheath for the last 2 years of her life before she passed away in March 2024. During her time there she was very well looked after and was loved by the staff, just as she loved them. She looked forward to the daily exercise classes as well as various afternoon activities. She especially loved the trips out. Thank you to all at Woodheath for taking such good care of her and for being friendly and welcoming to us each time we visited.
My time visiting Apple House it's a pleasant and welcoming environment with clean and tidy routines, Apple House takes residents on day trips and in-house events are a great help and I'm sure they all love it too. Best wishes to the friendly staff.
The staff were what made Woodheath a special place of care. They don't just care for my mum they love her. I can't ask for more, additionally, they made me feel so welcome always getting me by name.
My wife is just starting her fourth year as a resident of Woodheath's Apple House annex for dementia patients. From the very first, the management and staff have treated her with kindness, understanding and skill. Although she is, inevitably, deteriorating mentally and physically, the wonderful carers have never given up trying to bring some meaning and pleasure to her life. Only a fortnight ago, for instance, they organised an outing by taxi and wheelchair to the local promenade, for fresh air, sea views and a meal out. That initiative came from the staff, not from me, and was typical of their thoughtfulness. In short, I am full of the utmost praise for this excellent care home.
Woodheath Nursing and Residential Home is an excellent home. It has cared lovingly for its residents during the Covid period. It now continues to provide dedicated professional care for the very ill and frail patients of whom our mother is one.
My auntie has resided at Woodheath for over 4 years now and the care and consideration that has been afforded to her has been excellent. She has been well looked after since she had to give up her home when she could no longer look after herself. The activities offered to the residents are varied and well-planned with schedules shown in the reception area. My auntie particularly loves the children and animals coming to visit and the photos that appear on Facebook show her face lighting up with genuine smiles and joy. Woodheath is always clean and tidy when I go and visit and it is a very calm environment to enter. The staff are amazing and I really like the fact that there is always someone there that we know and have known since my auntie went there 4 years ago. Staff seem to like working there and stay which is great for continuity for the residents. There seems to be a very proactive caring management team at the heart of Woodheath which radiates down through the home.
September was my Mum's 80th Birthday month. (Mum has advanced Dementia formerly Alzheimer's disease) Woodheath staff provided the whole family a space to celebrate and share mums "Big" birthday. We were provided with refreshments and on top of us having a cake, the Canteen had made a surprise one for us to share as well. Woodheath feels like a proper home, not a a bedroom for mum. We find the staff always helpful and friendly and enjoy our visits with mum and regularly chat to other residents, I would recommend choosing this lovely home.
We were so reluctant for Mum to go into a care home but I cannot thank Woodheath staff enough for the care they provide to her. They are so very dedicated, friendly and loving and treat all the residents with kindness and respect. They entertain them, and provide activities and days out. They celebrate all of their birthdays with a constant stream of cake and fun. The staff have become Mum's new family and she loves them. This is an outstanding care home with outstanding support for your loved ones. They go the extra mile and I am eternally grateful to all of them.
The care and attention given to my husband in the last two months he was in care were excellent.
The standard of care at Woodheath care home is fantastic, and the staff are simply wonderful. My mum is happy there. Mum's clothes and bedding are always clean to a high standard. The staff really do have an interest in the residents. They laugh and joke with my mum to keep her in good spirits.
I have spent many hours researching care homes on and around The Wirral. Many have similar facilities, regardless of price. What is actually important is the competence and attitude of the staff. Following a recommendation from friends, I placed my mother at Woodheath last year and have been very pleased with how well she has been cared for and how well she has settled in.
My husband and I wanted to take the opportunity to express our thanks to all of the staff at Woodheath. My mother is 95 and, sadly, now in need of professional care. Despite having limited English, the staff have been able to communicate with her by using picture cards and by having learned a number of Cantonese words. Every time we have visited, she is clean, well dressed and more importantly, well loved. She especially likes having her nails painted and is enjoying her meals! Asked if there were any issues with her care or any members of staff, she replied "no - they are all wonderful". We have lived in the USA for 18 years now and have found it difficult to see how her age and ailments have slowly taken their toll. It is however of huge comfort to us that she is being looked after by such a compassionate and caring group of professionals. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Very good care. Excellent all round help.
I feel so reassured that I've found a second home for my wife with exceptional staff who are professional, caring and always can't do enough for you. I confirm below on behalf of my wife and myself. Thank you.
My mum has been in this home for over 18 months, as a family, we have been very happy with the care she has received. Even in the difficult Covid times, the staff have done everything they could to keep her safe and us informed.
The personalised care that my mum receives is second to none. All the staff are amazing and put the needs of all the residents first. Lots of interesting activities to keep them socialising and even day trips out. A truly lovely place for my mum to live.
My nan who had been living alone with Alzheimer’s is the happiest she has been in years since being a resident at Apple house. My nan has made plenty of friends and loves the staff. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
I would recommend Woodheath to everyone. My mum has been there for over a year. The atmosphere has been warm, friendly and very caring. All the staff are fantastic. I always got a warm welcome when I was able to visit, and more recently when I phoned. My mum is very happy there. The activities are fantastic. That has been a lot of comfort to me recently living far away and during the covid period when no visits. A big thank you to all.
When my aunt entered the Woodheath care home, she had been very close to death. They have looked after her well, and now she looks healthy and happy. Thanks to all concerned, they have done a fantastic job during a very difficult year.
My mother moved into Apple House in Woodheath in Feb 2018 with moderate to severe dementia. She was initially a resident of Apple House and, in the last month of her life (Jan 2020), of the nursing unit, Cherry House. Throughout this time my mother was treated with the utmost professionalism, dignity and efficiency. The units were clean, cheerful and the residents were provided with a safe and stimulating environment. But, above and beyond the professionalism of the staff, there was an overwhelming sense of care, affection and even love for their charges. When my mother was coming to the end of her life staff from Apple House came across to see her in Cherry House and those who were not on duty came to her funeral, the second some had attended that week. This is not just a job to these very special people. My sister and I were so happy that we chose Woodheath to care for our mother in her final years, and we will be forever grateful to the wonderful staff at this very fine care home.
