View Full Details of Acorn Hollow Care HomeMy father moved into Acorn Hollow following a stay in hospital. Negotiating the discharge from hospital and transfer to the home was made so much easier thanks to the support of Acorn Hollow's Administration team who were knowledgeable, efficient and very helpful. All the staff in the home were kind, caring and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. My father was treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, his stay was only two weeks before he died but I cannot fault the care he received in that time. My siblings and I were always made welcome and could visit Dad at any time.
Acorn Hollow Care Home has become home for my mum since May 2024. She has settled very well and I visit daily. In six months, I have seen great kindness and compassion. I feel that the staff look after me just as much as they do Mum. Mum gets mixed up and can do very little for herself. The staff know she loves to sing. They sing with and to her and she says she feels loved by them. This is a caring, well-run home.
Have settled well. The staff are very kind and pleasant. Sometimes have communication problems. The food is varied and on the whole very nice. Just wish it could be served warmer, cold food is not very appetising. An interesting programme of activities is offered every week. I like the fact that family and friends can visit at any time.
My grandad went in for respite care and was in there until he sadly passed. The staff were great with him, he was well cared for in his last stages.
I come from West Yorkshire and only manage to visit my sister once weekly. I can't rate everything as I haven't an in-depth knowledge. My visit today has been very pleasant, excellent staff who are loving and caring.
I cannot fault the care given to myself and to my wife in the final days of her life. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent is the only word I can use.
Generally, my experience here is fairly satisfactory. The staff are caring and helpful and usually polite.
Overall very happy. Staff exceptionally friendly and accommodating, public rooms cosy and inviting. Foodwise not always to my mother's taste personally plus waiting time for bathroom assistance but that's down purely to staff availability. Everywhere needs more staff! They provide good entertainment and celebrate lots of events and birthdays for residents and do a good job. I would recommend Acorn Hollow.
My mother received end-of-life nursing and care at Acorn Hollow. She felt extremely lucky to receive respectful care from all staff in all roles in comfortable surroundings. I was able to spend as much time as I wished during those precious final days and was always welcomed. The medical care from the on-site nursing staff was professional, kind and reassuring. Staff providing personal care were cheerful and understanding. The quality of accommodation and catering was of a high standard. Administration and management staff were excellent in dealing with other agencies to transfer Mum to Acorn Hollow without delay. Different activities were available for residents and whilst my mum enjoyed visits from pet therapy groups, I am sorry her health was not better as she would have enjoyed the other events and activities on offer. Whilst we may not like to think about our loved ones passing away, the staff provided comfort, a peaceful setting and dignity to my mum and her family.
My father has been staying in Acorn Hollow for roughly four weeks, and I have to say, I have been really pleased with the quality of care he has received. The management team and the staff have gone the extra mile to ensure my dad is comfortable and well-looked after. All the staff are very friendly, and when they are asked to correct or change anything, this is done quickly and efficiently. I have had the experience with care homes in the past, and this is definitely the friendliest home so far. My dad is not the easiest person to deal with, but they have managed his care exceptionally well. The team at Acorn Hollow are amazing.
The staff are wonderful, very helpful in all aspects. Quality of some meals needs improvement, current lack of variety and quality. Cleanliness is good. Social arrangements to suit all.
Very good.
Mum had to move to Acorn Hollow as the previous care home she was in wouldn't accept local authority funding and it was a blessing in disguise as Acorn Hollow is an extremely good care home. It is well run and the carers seem to genuinely care. The facilities and activities are excellent and I feel Mum is in the best possible place she could be for the help and care she needs.
My father is receiving excellent care and staff are very patient and we as a family are being warmly welcomed.
Very welcoming, included in everything that is going on. All staff are polite and helpful. When asking any member of staff for something they are all willing to assist, it feels very comfortable and lovely to be able to help yourself to drinks. Not given excellent as I was brought up to believe there is always room for improvement.
I start with first-class care, from managers, nursing/care staff, cleaners, office staff, caretaker and catering staff, what a team. The staff are professional, committed and provided outstanding care. During this difficult time, we were touched by the kindness and loving care we all received. I cannot praise them all enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and a massive thank you from my mum.
First visit to see a friend, welcoming, friendly and sociable staff. The rooms are airy and bright. Lovely setting and you wouldn't think you were in a nursing home.
Client/family requesting showers x three weekly at least (aware of staffing levels). Client/family requesting:- Menu choices are told to the client the day before and staff tick the level box, the client has difficulty chewing. This prevents waste, time, and the client's frustration of continually letting staff know that the food they bring is insufficient. Some staff aware of the client's limitations with chewing and bring or ask for alternative food options. (Thank you!) Client/family aware how tirelessly the staff work and are appreciative/thankful.
Found the home to be clean, friendly and staff always willing to go the extra mile. Management are helpful and the door is always open for chats. Good activities and menu provided.
This home is incredible. The staff are attentive and show genuine care. Clean and organised. Good level of entertainment for the residents. Beautiful outdoor area with a garden. I have worked in a lot of care homes and this is one of the very best I have been to.
