View Full Details of Barchester Lawton Manor Care HomeMy dad, aged 95, was admitted to Lawton Manor in March 2024 for palliative end-of-life care. From day one the team were wonderful and made such an effort to get to know him and us as a family. They encouraged my mum to visit for lunches and made sure both birthdays and their 72nd wedding anniversary was celebrated too. The care has been truly amazing, from the nursing team, care and activities team, laundry, kitchen and everyone- I know Dad felt safe in his final months, which is all we could have asked for. Whilst Dad sadly passed in August, the team made possible some lovely memories in his last 6 months which we wouldn't have had - so much so we recently returned to celebrate his life for an afternoon tea with friends and family, staff and residents.
The staff who look after their patients are such dedicated caring lovely people. All the staff want to make sure the patients' needs and care are lovingly applied. Food is excellent. Cleanliness is perfect. The reassurance the family feels is so appreciated. Nothing is too much trouble. Care and attention are wonderful. People here are treated with respect. What a joy and relief to see such happiness.
Our father received excellent care throughout his stay and the staff are fantastic in all departments, we would like to say a huge thank you to all for the care given to Dad and us, as a family. We would highly recommend Barchester Lawton Manor Care Home.
My father was cared for in Lawton Manor care home for the last three weeks of his life. We found the standard of his care from all the staff was outstanding. His care was personalised to his individual needs and the needs of his family. Nothing seemed too much trouble. At the end of his life, he was treated with dignity and respect.
The fact that our daughter is still alive is due to the excellent nursing care and general care within the home. Residents are treated as individuals and flourish as a result. Everyone is treated with affection and respect and routines adjusted, according to individual needs. It comes across as a "home" rather than and institution which, to any long-term resident, is essential in order to retain their quality of life.
Dad was referred to Lawton Manor Care Home for end-of-life care in the last month of his life in May 2024 and I want to sincerely thank all the staff for the wonderful care he received there. Nothing was too much in terms of helping Dad to be comfortable and to find the right room for his mobility and needs. They even sourced a bigger bed for Dad's 6ft 4' frame. I was impressed by the levels of care Dad received that always maintained his dignity right to the end. All of the staff - from the administrative staff through to the nurses and carers were absolutely lovely and this really contributes to the happy atmosphere that is tangible at Lawton Manor. The house is beautifully decorated and the rooms are cleaned regularly. There are beautiful gardens surrounding the house. The thing that makes the home special though is the staff, many of whom felt like friends by the end of Dad's life. I shall forever be grateful for the way that they made Dad's last days bearable for us as a family.
I had to vacate my house as the kitchen ceiling collapsed. I did not want a noisy hotel. I have a broken knee joint and a budgerigar who would have to join me. The Lawton Manor Care Home found me a room and accepted the budgerigar at very short notice. I found all of the staff to be pleasant and helpful. They put themselves out to modify the food menus to suit the problems with my IBS and are very tolerant of the budgie seed, which is an extra task for cleaners.
Needed respite care for Mum (96 years) whilst in hospital. Initial telephone enquiry resulted in a visit and confirmation of a place. Home, decor and facilities are excellent. All staff were brilliant. Mum was very well cared for. Would highly recommend Barchester Lawton Manor Care Home.
My father became a resident of Lawton Manor in June 2023. We had cared for Dad at home till then but couldn’t carry on as Dad’s needs were too much. From the moment we viewed Lawton Manor, we knew it was right for Dad. The staff were extremely supportive and helpful. Dad moved in, and he has been cared for in a very caring and professional way; we can’t fault it. He is settled and very happy and content; it is lovely to see. All the residents are treated with dignity and respect. All the staff work extremely hard to ensure this, from management, nurses, carers, catering, entertainment and housekeeping. We cannot thank them enough for everything they do.
Before choosing a care home for my father, my sister and I visited several within the area. Lawton Manor appeared to be the most suitable, and we knew our dad would be happy in this home. We have not been disappointed, as from the outset, all our expectations have been realised. The staff at Lawton Manor are friendly to both residents and visitors alike and give care and attention to each and every one when required. There are frequent activities ranging from Bingo, quiz games, singing and musical entertainment and encourage companionship and interaction with other residents. The location of this home is set in picturesque surroundings, and residents enjoy fresh air on sunny days. My father's bedroom is clean and furnished with quality furniture, television and bathroom facilities, and his personal cleanliness is paramount. His clothing is washed and ironed and returned to the wardrobe. Dad eats in the main restaurant, and the food is good. It is a joy to see how he has settled in already.
My mother came to live at Lawton Manor Care Home two years ago now and I can honestly say she has been loved and nurtured to her optimum health and well-being. My mum was and remains fragile, a lady in her 90s, so vulnerable and yet I have total faith in the care of the team at Lawton Manor that all her needs are taken care of. It does not matter what time of the day or night I visit, the evidence of Mum's care is always plain to see. I could not wish for any more as far as comfort and compassion go. Last year my dad was able to join her here which has enabled me to keep a promise to do all I could to keep them together.
Lovely home and staff team nothing is too much trouble. My gran had respite in the home recently and she described her stay as staying in a 5 star hotel and she will definitely return for future stays. We are so impressed with everything and would highly recommend the home for anyone looking for “a holiday home” or “forever home” for their loved one.
Very pleasant stay, everyone is so friendly. The food is excellent and excellent activities.
Such a professional team of people who work at Lawton. Every team member responds to anything requested of them. Safe, friendly and very welcoming home, very in tune with how to treat visitors and residents. This home has made me feel relaxed about having a loved one in their care and has eased stressed family members. Thanks to everyone who works there.
Whilst my mum was in Lawton Manor, the care, respect, kindness, compassion and dignity that all the nursing, carers and staff showed my mum and us as a family was very professional and wonderful. We could not have asked for anything better! Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are of high quality, spacious and comfortable. The food is generous and delicious. They also provide brilliant outings and daily activities. I would highly recommend Lawton Manor to anyone looking for a residential home for a relative.
This is my fourth respite stay at Lawton Manor. Each time I feel welcome, safe and cared for. The staff try hard to support the person you are and go the extra mile to help. I live alone and always return home feeling more confident, knowing that I can call on them for help if I need to return to regain my strength. They are a trusted part of my ongoing care. I highly recommend them.
It's taken a while for my dad to settle into his new home, however, he finds the staff, his room, food and overall experience "good". Possibly communication between myself and the care staff could be improved upon. One employee, the activities assistant, in particular, stands out as extremely kind and caring, she encourages dad with the activities.
Excellent service in all departments. Always treated with dignity.
It looks like a beautiful home to live in. My friend's room was clean and tidy and her bed and nightdress were changed as a cup of water had leaked. The staff were very helpful.
Lawton Manor is run professionally whilst maintaining a family atmosphere. I have a comfortable room which includes an ensuite and a TV. The food is good, and the staff are lovely. I feel safe and cared for, and my pain is managed very well. I am treated as an individual. In fact, it's encouraged, and we are asked to fill in a booklet all about ourselves. Activities have included singers/musicians, a recent picnic by the lake, an "exotic animal day" held at the home, and a barge trip coming up in July. An outing was arranged, especially for me to visit the mini Zoo after l had expressed a wish to interact with snakes etc. Who would have thought that l would be doing that! Lawton Manor is a special place, and l am happy here.
