View Full Details of Mount Pleasant Nursing HomeMum was transferred to Mount Pleasant on the 6th of January 2025 from another area to be near family. The home is exceptional and the staff are caring, thoughtful and proffessional. Mum is in a great facility with people who are really concerned about her as a human being with a history, family, and a life before Mount Pleasant. From my first visit, we were made welcome and Mum seemed better in herself and the place is lovely. I recommend Mount Pleasant for anyone who is looking for a very good choice for a beloved parent and the entire team are excellent.
My mother was an intermittent respite resident at this care home over the last six years, initially staying for the 16 months of her chemotherapy, having been taken ill suddenly while staying in the area. She then moved near me where she stayed until the end of November 2023. Each time I went on holiday she had respite care at Mount Pleasant. Her condition was palliative and her preferred place of care at End of Life was here. The end came quite quickly but the staff were exceptional at all levels in their care. They were attentive, compassionate and caring for both my mother's needs and us the family. All levels of care home staff were able to enjoy a laugh with my mother and she felt safe here. A majority of the nursing, care and ancillary staff were there six years ago, at the start of this journey and still there at the end. In a sector where there is often a large staff turnover, it is a testament to the senior nursing staff and the management team that this isn't the case here. Phenomenal Team!
Mum moved to Mount Pleasant in March 2022 after care at home was no longer viable. Every single member of staff has made Mum's transition easy with their care and thoughtfulness. It has become a home from home. From the wonderful matron and nursing /care staff, the chefs and kitchen staff, maintenance men domestic staff and, to top it, all the amazing activities ladies, who make trips out and activities the icing on the cake. The whole team are respectful caring and friendly.
The staff at Mount Pleasant have always been so accommodating even during the times of Covid. I have been so impressed by their ability to see residents with the potential to be their best selves. Their willingness to take residents out on lovely trips is exceptional, even for those with issues of frailty and very limited mobility.
Although Dad lived here for just two months and during the Coronavirus pandemic, the care was exemplary. The staff always had time for him and for the family, and nothing was too much trouble. We visited often through a screen, and Dad always looked well dressed and well cared for. He was on oxygen 24/7, but the home took this in their stride and accommodated his needs. It was a great comfort to us to know that he was receiving the best possible care, and I would recommend Mount Pleasant unreservedly. Thank you.
As a family, we would like to thank all the professional, dedicated, persevering, compassionate and attentive staff at Mount Pleasant for turning our mother’s life around. After a serious fall in December 2019 and subsequent hospitalisation, our mother arrived at Mount Pleasant in early February 2020 being both physically and mentally in very poor health. Our mother has now been a permanent resident for 10 months receiving excellent nursing and support staff care (the team including Care Assistants, The Activities Co-Ordinator, Administrative Staff, Cooks, Cleaners, Maintenance). Our mother is now enjoying her food, social life and participating in the many activities the home organises for its residents. Furthermore, our mother feels so safe and stress-free after severe mobility issues. Seeing her return to showing an interest in current affairs is fantastic. We highly recommend Mount Pleasant as First Class providing an excellent standard of care and well being for its residents.
My mother has been a resident at Mount Pleasant for 5 years next month and during this time she has received excellent care. ALL the staff at the home are kind, caring, respectful and competent. The home has a very warm and happy atmosphere and I have always been confident that Mum is in excellent hands. I would recommend Mount Pleasant Nursing Home without hesitation.
My sister has been resident at the nursing home for a few years now and although she is deteriorating, her brain is still very active (although latterly her mind has begun to wander) she is very happy there. The staff are absolutely wonderful, all the way down from matron to the maintenance staff. Whenever my husband and I visit my sister, we are greeted with smiles and it really is a pleasure to visit. Most nursing homes I have visited have a particular smell which is rather nasty but at Mount Pleasant, this is not so; the building always smells fresh and clean. I am really impressed with all aspects of the place.
I have been here for respite care following a cancer diagnosis and subsequent weekly chemotherapy sessions at the hospital. The staff have been exceptionally kind and efficient as my medications have changed after each session. I am due to have surgery and will remain here for the duration of my recovery and with the support of the staff, I expect to be able to go home.
My mother has been in this care home for 18 months and has been well looked after. Any queries I have had about her welfare have always been answered with concern by the nursing staff. There is a continuity of staff, a friendly set of care assistants who have been there for a long time. They know each individual well, recognise and acknowledge family members.
