I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for the exceptional care and compassion you showed my husband during his time with you. You all showed such warmth and dedication, and it really touched our hearts. Thank you so much for everything you did. We will never forget your care and support.
Thanks to everyone at Oaklands for looking after our dad particularly the staff the family know well but also many others who provided care to him over the last 22 months or so. His care has been excellent and we were always confident that he was being looked after by caring, attentive staff. We visited often and were always made to feel welcome and the staff were happy to answer our questions and the place was always clean. We were kept informed about how Dad was doing and, particularly in his last days were kept Up-to-date about his end-of-life care which we were extremely grateful for. My dad was often a feisty character but he was always treated with patience, compassion and, something he liked, humour! We are grateful for the time and care you showed towards Bill and will not hesitate to recommend the home to others requiring the same, excellent care.
The care my father is receiving at Oaklands is excellent. The staff are all very patient and gentle, they have taken the time to get to know Dad and his likes/dislikes and the care is tailored to his personal needs and preferences. The standard of nursing care is extremely high, Dad was in a very frail condition on admission to the home and his general health has greatly improved. The home has a friendly, homely, supportive atmosphere, and lovely gardens for residents. Communication between staff and family/residents is very good with the senior staff ensuring they are aware of our wishes and putting plans in place for Dad's ongoing care. It has been a relief for our family to know that Dad is being so well looked after and we can now enjoy the time we have to spend with him as opposed to worrying about his mental and physical deterioration. We would have no hesitation recommending Oaklands to other families.
The care my father-in-law received at Oaklands was gentle, kind and exceptionally patient! We are very grateful. It was really good to know he was in such good hands. The building is a lovely old-fashioned one in a good way, for elderly people. It was very clean and fresh, his room was kept really nicely. The manager is very kind and helpful, and the nurses are readily available to chat and help either in person or on the phone. The carers are so gentle and incredibly patient and respectful. Thank you.
Mum has very poor mobility and moderate dementia and went into Oaklands on the 12th of December. After 4.5 years we could no longer care for her at home as she needed 24/7 care. We visited many care homes in the Chester area and decided on Oaklands because of the homely atmosphere, supportive attitude of management and the CQC grading of ‘Good’. It was also relevant that my Mum’s next-door neighbour had been at Oaklands for 3 years and was settled there. Mum is doing well and receives a high standard of care from some lovely nursing and care staff. The Sun Lounge at Oaklands where activities take place is a real highlight. I visit regularly with my Dad (90 years old) and we are made to feel most welcome and part of the Oaklands family.
I'm more than happy with the care my wife gets from the care home. I would be happy to recommend this to anyone. Thank you for your help, and I want to thank the staff for their help, so thanks very much from me and my family.
My mum has been a resident now for three years. She is settled and content. I visit regularly. The staff are caring, welcoming and hard-working. My mum went into Oaklands 3 months before the lockdown and I was grateful I had seen her settle in before that commenced. When she first went in it was lovely as I could just pop in and out easily and frequently at any time. Lockdown was hard, peering through her bedroom window in all weathers. However, things are more back to normal now and I'm really pleased with the variety of activities going on. The staff ring me if they have any concerns and I ask Mum how she is when I visit and if anything is worrying her and she always reassures me she is ok. Overall, she and I are happy with Oaklands Nursing Home.
I'm so grateful to all of the staff at Oaklands Nursing Home, they are all friendly and helpful. My dad enjoys the activities and has made really good friends with another of the residents. My sister and I wish everyone at the home a lovely Christmas and a restful New Year.
My dad has been at Oaklands for the last four years and is very happy here. He had a stroke and at first, was unable to communicate or walk, but with the care and encouragement of the staff, he has improved to the point where he is able to hold conversation and get around with the help of a frame, which has given him some of his independence back. He is encouraged to join in socially and has made a few good friends with other residents too. When I visit, I feel like I am seeing him in his own home and am welcomed by other residents and staff alike. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are considerate of everyone's pride and dignity. Activities are constant and relatives are invited along to join in, which makes for a great atmosphere. Thank you!
Mum has been in the home coming up for four years. It is her home from home. The staff are amazing in every way. They care for Mum as though she is family. It is such a great comfort to know how safe and happy she is.
The quality of care my mum has received is excellent. The carers treat her with respect and understanding. I cannot praise them highly enough. The recent appointment of a new and fantastic activities organiser has been brilliant. She goes above and beyond and she raises the mood of the whole home. The nurses work extremely hard and are very knowledgeable. It's a first class home.
My mum recently passed away. She had spent the last 6-years of her life at Oaklands Nursing Home. She received amazing care and tolerance for her strong character, making her feel cared for, safe and respected. The staff were efficient, tentative and responded well to my mum's needs. Over the last month, Mum began to lose her spark, and in the last 8-days had begun to weaken. She was attended to with tenderness and dignity by the staff until she passed away and was at peace. Forever grateful.
My husband has been here for four weeks. He is always clean and tidy, as his room. When I come to visit, the staff treat him with dignity and are so caring. He doesn't hear very well; I'm sure that's making caring a lot more difficult. He tells me the food is very good, and I'm nearly always invited to have a drink of tea. Covid is making things difficult regarding visiting, but it won't last too much longer - here's hoping. We are really happy and grateful for the care he is receiving.
Have always found Oaklands Nursing Home to be very good, and all the staff friendly.
Bearing in mind I have not actually been in Mum's room, only seen it from the outside. I have only seen Mum in the garden and I recall one occasion in July, we were sitting in the garden. Everyone spaced 2 meters apart for Coronavirus. Soft music playing, a trolley came round with tea and soft drinks. Mum looked so content. The staff are lovely! Mum is very happy now.
Oaklands is a small and friendly care home with a good feel of harmony between residents and staff. Small enough to be personal but big enough to meet most needs.
My stay so far has been very settling because the staff treat us so well, you could say home from home and nothing is too much trouble for them, but they are very rushed when short-staffed, mainly at meal and changeover times.
Such a warm welcome for my father from all the staff. The care is excellent and the staff so kind and helpful. All nursing homes should be like this!
My Dad now lives in this nursing home. We were a bit apprehensive at first to leaving but found that after the first week he was comfortably settled in and the care staff are brilliant with him as we know he can be a bit grumpy. He gets along with all carers (he has his favourites ha!). He loves the food, never seen him eat so much. They all look after his needs. Well done to them all.
