View Full Details of Hillcroft Nursing Home (Lancaster)Caring, devoted, motivated staff led by example from senior nursing staff and manager of which I can't speak too highly. My mother has severe dementia and can exhibit challenging aggressive behaviour. Hillcroft staff know how to best manage this while retaining her dignity as much as possible. They genuinely care and treat her with affection. I often find staff chatting with her one on one when I arrive unannounced. Food is wholesome home cooked and sufficient, catered for individual needs. Visitors/relations are always given a warm welcome. I am always informed of any issues with mothers health. Very occasionally a Lounge can smell of urine. This is not surprising given the unpredictable behaviour of some residents. Staff take measures to ensure this is not a routine state of affairs and is not as evident as other Homes I have visited in my working life. My brother and I are confident our elderly vulnerable mother is in a caring loving environment.
After my dad was given notice to leave another home we were lucky enough to get him a place here and can only say wonderful things. The best thing about the place are the staff, every one of them. He was very sad and lonely in his previous home but now at Hillcroft, he is always chatting to one of the staff. They all seem so well trained in dementia care which results in a happy home, happy residents and such positive staff. Even when dad is having a bad day, I always leave knowing he's in the best possible place, which is such peace of mind. The food looks lovely and I'm always offered a cup of tea while I'm there. I also feel if I had any concerns I could talk to the manager and she would listen (although I've never had to). There's always a lovely welcome on reception too. I used to dread going to see him at his previous home but look forward to my visits now. Thank you to all Hillcroft Lancaster staff.
