View Full Details of New Thursby Nursing HomeMany thanks to the Manager, Deputy Manager and all the staff at New Thursby Nursing Home for their care and kindness for my aunt whilst she was resident at their care home. Sadly, her stay was short due to her terminal illness, but we couldn't have asked for any better support and nursing care through her end-of-life care and we always felt that she was in safe hands. Communication and friendliness of the staff was exceptional, as it was with the GP services through the home if needed. The manager came to visit her prior to her stay and then to her funeral. The level of care to the end was exceptional.
My mother moved into New Thursby recently. She was hesitant at first as I had been her primary carer for 3 years but she has settled in nicely. Mum told me the staff are helpful and that the home is "nice and warm" and most importantly she feels safe there. My mum always had a nervous disposition so knowing that she's safe and cared for is a great relief. Manager is very personable right from my mum's initial assessment/our first meeting. I have yet to learn all the names but the other staff I've spoken to the most would be a particular nurse - very helpful too. My mum's room is always clean and we were encouraged from the start to bring in her own furniture/décor to make it feel homely - however she wanted. I cannot comment on meals as mealtimes are protected but my mum always seems content. There are activities most weekdays including trips out which are updated weekly on the Activities board outside the main lounge. Residents are free to join in as much or as little as they please.
New Thursby has been a godsend to our family. The care my Mother-in-law receives is outstanding in professionalism and kindness. I'd also like to commend the staff for keeping the home smelling so clean and fresh, thank you.
Really good and friendly staff, highly recommended and very clean.
I feel he is looked after much better here. He looks smart, showered, well fed and activities provided.
The staff at New Thursby are excellent; so many genuinely caring professionals with very high standards, and this has a very positive impact on my mother's experience. My mother has been in New Thursby for over two years now and has really benefitted from the care and attention of the staff in so many ways. Staff have always shown every consideration to me and my family in making arrangements and so on. I would certainly recommend New Thursby.
My father and I continue to be delighted with the level of care that is being provided for my mother. All staff go the extra mile to meet her every need. New Thursby has a lovely homely atmosphere and the staff are welcoming, and friendly and it is evident that they do really 'care' about their residents. We know when we are not visiting Mum is looked after to the highest of standards.
I am a resident, I have been here for four years. I am happy and comfortable. Well looked after. Care staff liaise well with my surgery.
My Godmother has been in the New Thursby Nursing Home for two years now. I have LPA and am the primary contact as her only daughter lives in the USA. I have never had any reason to complain about anything at the home. The staff are all friendly and attentive. Cleanliness and general decor are excellent. Ongoing medical care is first-rate given issues with short-term memory loss. I can't comment on the food but my Godmother has gained weight and has a much improved complexion.
I would like to thank the acting manager and all his team for all of the exceptional care, nursing, kindness and attention given to my late aunt and myself. I would have no hesitation in recommending the New Thursby Nursing Home.
I have found the care and attention of my father-in-law to be outstanding. In difficult circumstances, I felt reassured that he would be taken care of very well in a welcoming environment and very friendly and informed staff. Communication is excellent and I feel that all of my family have been welcomed when visiting.
My mother has been in the New Thursby Care Home now a few weeks. It's a difficult decision and transition for any family but the home has been nothing but caring and considerate to help this journey. Mum is very well looked after and the staff are really helpful and attentive to my mum's needs. The manager of the home has been very understanding and shows great empathy with my mum, thank you. The lady who does the craft activities encourages my mum to get involved, and I feel comforted that she is being encouraged. Every time I call the staff are friendly (I am not local) and they let me know how Mum is getting on and raise any concerns. It's a difficult time for the family and this has helped knowing that mum is in safe hands.
The New Thursby is bright, clean, warm and welcoming. My mother-in-law has been in approx 4 weeks and I can’t fault the care she has received from the staff. The manager and all staff are friendly approachable and answer any questions you have and take the time to get to know the residents as well as their family. They keep the family up to date with any developments as they happen. They encourage my mother-in-law to socialise with other residents and activities and treat her with compassion during her irritability and emotional episodes. They have helped the transition from home to a nursing home easier for the family to deal with during a distressing time knowing she has all her needs met in a safe and secure environment.
It is my mother's second week in the care home, she has settled in well I believe, her carers are patient with her as she is elderly and confused. She enjoys the choice of food and finds it tasty and filling. Overall she is happy, warm and comfortable. I have had several conversations with both management and staff and am satisfied that they have my mother's care and support as a priority. Her room is clean and brightly decorated. She appears to be treated with dignity. I am very satisfied with this care home.
My Mum moved here following a time in hospital; she is still unwell but has settled into her new home. She was made to feel very welcome - as I was. All of the management, care, nursing, catering, domestic and maintenance staff are very friendly, hard-working and efficient. They keep me very well informed about her progress. Her room, whilst small, is comfortable and very clean; it is pleasantly decorated and I have been able to add a small number of her personal belongings. Great care is taken to assess and monitor her general health, existing conditions, weight etc. When she was thought to be unwell after arrival her GP was immediately consulted and medication obtained. The staff also encourage her to feel better by helping her get out of bed, dressed and to the very pleasant lounge and dining room; she was very pleased to have a hairdressing appointment which made her feel a lot better about her appearance. I am very satisfied that Mum is both safe and secure there.
Our mother has been extremely well cared for since arriving at the New Thursby. The staff attitude is positive, helpful and professional. There is clear leadership and good management in evidence. Staff are approachable and always helpful. This would be a good training environment. Thank you for your care.
Staff at the New Thursby have been brilliant with Mum, who has multiple medical issues, ongoing. I can see first hand these are being managed well and Mum is happy here. The leadership team are spot on and all the staff are friendly, helpful and available when needed (which is not so common these days). Mum settled in quickly and we are grateful for how attentive and detail orientated the staff have been and continue to be. Highly recommended!
My sister has been a resident at the New Thursby Care Home since July 2022. The carers and nurses are kind, polite and caring, and they work very hard; we are very happy with the care my sister receives. The matron has a high expectancy of quality and commitment to services provided at the home. We have been made to feel welcome and at home at the Thursby, it's not easy moving into a care home and all the staff have helped my sister to settle in - including housekeeping staff, kitchen staff, carers, nurses and matrons. A big thank you to everyone.
From my initial visit to the home in December 2022 to date I have been continually impressed with all aspects of the New Thursby. Everyone is welcoming and friendly and very attentive to my mum's needs. The home is always clean and smells really nice, especially my mum's room. Staff are very caring and responsive to any changes in my mum's well-being and prompt action has always been taken to ensure she is safe and effectively cared for. Staff respect my mum's wishes but always encourage her to participate in activities. In relation to assisting her with her personal care, staff support her with kindness and respect whilst maintaining her dignity, something that is of paramount importance to her. The manager of the home is visible and always has time for a chat, I am kept up to date about my mum face to face, by phone, by letter or copies of reviews held within the team. I cannot praise this service enough and feel confident that my mum is living in the right home.
My late wife was at the New Thursby for about two years at the end of her life. She suffered from multiple sclerosis and finally became totally paralysed and subject to intermittent medical crisis, generally resulted in a period in hospital. She needed constant attention and help with nearly all aspects of her life. I was glad for the opportunity to be with her for many hours every day. I was made welcome at all times and if ever I was not there, the staff would ring me if she had a relapse so that I could be with her. The staff were always helpful, caring and supportive. Despite the enormous pressure they were under they were always there when they were needed. This includes not only nurses and carers but also the kitchen and house staff and of course the senior staff. Whenever I left, I felt that I was leaving her in safe hands. I have many happy memories and will visit as soon as I can control my emotions at her death. My thanks to you all.
