View Full Details of Longton Nursing & Residential HomeWe moved my mum into the home a couple of weeks ago now. The manager's assessment and admission process was professional, friendly and really helped to put our minds at rest. Without exception, the staff team have been excellent - kind, caring and very considerate in everything they have done. Mum took a few days to settle in but the team was able to support her through her anxieties and they communicated with us at all times. As a former CEO of a healthcare company I like to think that I've got high expectations for all types of care and most certainly for my mum's. I've not been disappointed at all. Mum particularly benefits from having people around her at all times and from having activities that take place throughout the day. The home has two excellent activity coordinators who help people to get involved and really feel a part of their home. I'd highly recommend the home to anyone who may be looking for 24hr residential and / or nursing care and support. Thank you to everyone.
I can't express the gratitude I have for all the staff at Longton Nursing Home. My Mum was admitted in early October for palliative care. All the staff went out of their way to make her as comfortable as possible in what was her final home. The questions I asked were answered immediately and any requests were dealt with promptly and professionally. My life was made easier knowing the wonderful care and attention Mum was receiving. I had access to see Mum 24/7 and was made to feel welcome by all when I visited. Thank you, to your team. Forever grateful.
Our mum/mother-in-law spent her final 6 months at Longton. We were very nervous about her being in such an environment as she had come from a very brief stay at a nearby home which just wasn't suitable. From day 1 we were at ease, the staff were friendly, caring and helpful. We finally felt like we could breathe and the stress of looking after Mum and dealing with her decline vanished. Mum passed away relatively quickly, however, the care and compassion shown by the staff, from the care staff who simply came to make her comfortable and change her position, to the nursing staff who always made sure we were also ok was second to none. We can't thank you enough for everything you did for Mum, as the saying goes ' kindness costs nothing' Mum was the kindest person ever, so it fits she ended her days here.
Friednly and helpful staff all round. Can't fault any part of the care. Thank you.
My mother came into your care from the hospital. When my wife and I came to see if this care home was suitable we made our mind up as soon as we walked in that my mother would be happy here. She was in your care for only two weeks. The care that was given to her by all staff was excellent, going beyond what you need to do. Thank you for all the things you have done for her.
My father was a resident for the last six weeks of his life, and at all times, he was treated with kindness and dignity. He could not mobilise independently due to his terminal illness, so the staff ensured he was supported and provided ample opportunities for Dad to be taken into the lounges etc. Dad was a vegetarian, and the chef took extra care to provide Dad with enjoyable, nutritious meals. The staff were all superb, particularly in Dad's final days when his pain was well-managed and he was treated with dignity.
My dad spent less than a month at Longton Nursing Home in May/June 2024, as he was admitted for end-of-life care due to being diagnosed with metastatic cancer. My dad was very happy at the nursing home especially having his own room, as opposed to an overcrowded and noisy ward at the Hospital, this was a godsend and gave him the peace and quiet, and privacy that he needed in his final weeks. From a family point of view, although visiting Dad was very distressing due to his fast deterioration, Longton Nursing Home was a friendly place, and all the staff from top to bottom, made not only my dad feel welcome, but also all the family. They accommodated multiple visits from the family on a daily basis and also agreed to let his sons stay overnight during the final week of my dad's life, which gave him great comfort with us being there with him. The Manager was a credit to the home and was extremely kind, caring, and compassionate with Dad and the family.
I cannot express in words how grateful my brother and myself are to all the staff at Longton Nursing Home. My mum was only there for a short period. Having been moved from another home due to needing nursing care. The manager was fantastic from my first contact and sorted getting my mum moved as fast as possible. All the nurses and all the staff were exceptional in taking care of my mum. I could not have asked for any better. I would like to thank the manager and all the nurses for their complete care. They all took time to listen to any questions and answer and concerns we had with my mum's cancer. It was a really difficult time but we took comfort in knowing my mum was in the right place with the right care. I cannot express how grateful I am for everything. They are really special people. We thank them for everything they did.
My husband was cared for from 24/11/2023 to 21/04/2024 when he passed away. I can honestly say that all of the staff, right down to the cleaners have been so compassionate, caring and dedicated at whatever level. In today's society which seems to be so vacuous at times, it is heartwarming to receive such kindness and care in very difficult times.
Mum spent the last 3 years of her life in the loving care of the amazing staff at Longton. She went there during the pandemic and was so well looked after. Everybody was so kind. She found a new family and made friends with other residents and their families. We couldn't have asked for more and we highly recommend Longton. We miss being part of our extended family but the manager and team have kindly invited us to call in and we will!
Mum spent her last two months at Longton Nursing & Residential Home and I could not have asked for a more caring and friendly environment. It is all about the care and Mum was treated with dignity, courtesy and a friendly voice at every turn. Access to Mum over the phone was superb, and never too much bother. When visiting it was a pleasure to see Mum happy and talking to people in the communal lounges or enjoying an event - including the wonderful Coronation Party. Everything from admitting Mum, to her final hours was handled exceptionally well and is testimony to a good management team and happy and motivated staff. It is all about the care for your loved ones and Longton Nursing & Residential Home delivered for us. I would not hesitate to recommend the home.
The staff treated our family member with care and compassion and helped make his passing a comforting experience. He was always clean and shaven, and every care was taken to make sure he was warm and comfortable, with all his needs met. I would not hesitate to recommend or use Longton Nursing Home in the future.
For what turned out to be a short period of time, I can't thank the staff of this care home enough. The kindness and love shown to my dad were a joy to see. For the last month of his life, I became his daughter again, not just his carer. Having made the very difficult decision to place dad in nursing/residential care, we were made to feel so welcome from the moment we first entered the home. How lovely that we had a couple of special moments with dad; a fish and chip dinner laid out with a full tea set, afternoon tea which my brother was able to join in with. So lovely. I will always be so grateful for the care and attention given to my mum when I realised she was suffering from another TIA, with the home being close by to where we were, the nurses reacted so swiftly and with such kindness. Every member of staff who helped care for my dad was in my thoughts at his funeral. I can't thank you enough.
My uncle spend his last nine months in the care of the Manager and her team, and the care and respect he received were always above and beyond. So when it came to my aunt, there was only one place I would place the care of my dear aunty, and that is with the same team. 5 stars in every respect, keep up the great work to the Manager and her team.
Many thanks to all your dedicated staff for the care and attention received prior to his death on Monday. He gained weight and his mental and physical health came on in leaps and bounds by the kindness of everyone involved. On my last visit, another regular visitor made the comment that we were becoming a 'supportive family' and that interaction made a huge difference to his quality of life. Thank you so much.
Due to a tragic change of circumstances, I find myself submitting a second review. After approx two years at Longton my wife suffered a rapid decline in her condition and I got to experience Longton's End of Life Care at first-hand. All I can say is that the Manager and all of the team treated me, my family and my wife with the utmost care, compassion and consideration. I have lost count of how many cups of coffee, biscuits, sandwiches or lunches I was offered during her final days. My family and I were all allowed unlimited, unrestricted visiting and my wife was able to spend her final days and hours in peace, surrounded by all of her immediate family. Every single member of staff that I encountered treated me, my wife and my family with total dignity and respect, regardless of their role or grade. Even staff members that I didn't immediately recognise knew my first name and used it in a respectful fashion. My wife could not possibly have been anywhere better. Thank You.
My husband has been a resident for fourteen years and has always been shown care and respect throughout. I always feel relaxed and at home when I visit and would recommend this home happily.
My husband has been very happy and extremely well looked after by the wonderful staff. Everything was put in place for him on his arrival until coming home. What a wonderful nursing home it was for my husband.
Mum came into your care from the stroke unit, it was unlikely she would ever go home. With your care and patience, Mum is walking, talking and eating. With your help, we have taken her home to her new bungalow. You have kept her safe during the pandemic. You enabled her to go home - her greatest wish. The family are forever grateful.
We know when Dad first arrived at the home, both he and us struggled with a new routine and environment. However, he was very quickly made to feel at home which helped us massively whilst we cared for our mum before she died. During lockdown, the circumstances were difficult for everyone; especially when Dad was used to visitors every day. However, the staff worked tirelessly. The care and attention given to our dad in the last few days of his life we will be eternally grateful for knowing he wasn't alone and being comforted with prayers at the end gives us solace too. An amazing home, with amazing staff.
