View Full Details of The Sands Nursing & Retirement HomeMum has been at The Sands for nearly 11 months, she went in straight from hospital and was given end-of-life care, she is still with us, thanks to the care and attention given by all the staff. Dad goes and visits every day and he is made to feel welcome, he is there 4 hours a day, he is also catered for, it is a friendly place for Mum and the staff are great and professional, dignity and respect are given at all times. Relatives are always made to feel welcome and encouraged to visit. Birthday and special occasions are celebrated with cakes and sometimes entertainment. I cannot imagine how I would have coped without the support from the staff at The Sands. The receptionist offers the warmest of greetings to whoever visits. The Sands Care Home has been a godsend to myself and my dad.
Mum was with The Sands Care Home in their EMI unit for two months. Throughout this time she was treated with professionalism, dignity, compassion and genuine affection by all the staff. They supported her challenging health needs and provided us with regular updates and support. Thank you to all the team there.
Mum has lived at the Sands for seven months now. It is a great relief to see her being cared for by such a professional, considerate and compassionate team of staff. They have got to know her well and meet her individual needs with respect, patience and sensitivity. There is always a warm and friendly atmosphere whenever we visit or phone. Since living there she has put on weight and is obviously eating well. She likes being able to choose from the menu every day. Her room is now a mini version of her house with her most treasured possessions around her to make her feel secure and comfortable. Communication from the staff team is very good and we are always kept informed anything new and our queries are always answered as soon as possible. Any health or medical issues are dealt with immediately - the doctor called- the family contacted. Mum is treated with dignity and respect and says she is happy to live with such lovely people to care for her.
