View Full Details of The Old Rectory Nursing HomeMy mother-in-law has now lived at the Old Rectory for 18 months. She has settled in very well and really feels at home there. Both she and I feel that the staff and management deserve a great deal of praise and thanks for all the loving care shown to her and all the other residents. Relatives too are made to feel welcome at any time and the staff is so friendly and ready to help if needed. I would recommend The Old Rectory to anyone.
Mum has been a resident for nearly a year after a 4-month stay in hospital. Her care has been second to none and her health and well-being have improved immensely during her stay. She thoroughly enjoys the meals and activities in these very homely surroundings. As family visitors, we have always felt very welcomed by the staff who keep us up to date on Mum's state of health.
Mum has been at The Old Rectory since September 2024, Mum came to The Rectory quite ill at 89 years old. Unable to take care of her everyday needs. The nurses and care staff look after Mum like a precious diamond. All the staff are professional and look after Mum with compassion and dignity. Due to the care received Mum has improved. The food prepared by the catering staff is Michelin Star quality. (5 star) Admin staff keep residents and families updated with "Keeping you Informed" by email and hard copies. All the staff have time to get to know the residents personally and always happy to have a conversation with them which is really important. The activities are good and residents are encouraged to join in. Mum is unable to do that currently but hopefully will be able to soon. The nurses always keep us informed of any changes in Mum's health and wellbeing. I would highly recommend The Old Rectory to anyone looking for considerate and compassionate care for their loved one.
As an 85-year-old, like many others, I have always dreaded the thought of finishing my life in a nursing home. I am sure my sister also felt this way. After seeing my sister here, I can only say that I would be happy to finish my days in your care. In all my visits I have been more than impressed with the care which you provide. The staff especially are a credit to you. They seem to be in a permanent state of happiness in what they do, which duties they do with total professionalism. I have seen a number of other homes and conclude that yours is the best. A care home where everyone and cares and the place is like home.
It isn't home but it is the next best thing. The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. The food is good and varied. There is a beautiful garden, when the weather allows you to go enjoy it.
Great care home with a pleasant environment like a 5-star hotel. Staff are really engaged with residents and visitors alike. The catering staff provide refreshments at a regular church service next door; the location is great. The view from my mother's bedroom is over cobbled streets and nearby pubs and church. Staff really make the place, not the building and we feel it's like a private house shared by the residents and run by the staff team.
The Old Rectory is in a beautiful location, next to an old church in a small cobbled village. It has well-kept gardens with spacious lawns ideal for outdoor events, or just sitting enjoying the view. The premises are clean and well-maintained having recently undergone improvements to the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. However, the secret of The Old Rectory in simply its staff. All are good but many are exceptional.
Excellent.
Great. Lovely.
Mum has been here for about 2 years. During this time the staff have made her feel right at home and she has settled very well. Mum came into The Old Rectory quite ill at 93 years old, unable to feed herself or take care of everyday needs. Since then she has rallied due to the care she has received. The professional staff, whether carer, catering or admin, take the time to get to know her personally and they are all lovely with her. The food is home-cooked and caters for her needs and likes. The activities are great from quizzes to boat rides and I'm always encouraged to come along. The Old Rectory has a homely feel in a super location, inside there are recently updated areas that sit in when visiting, whether joining an activity or having a more private conversation. The Manager and nurses always listen to any concerns about Mum's health and they keep me posted on any changes. I would recommend the OR to anyone looking for considerate and compassionate care.
I have been visiting my friend for a while and when the fundraising came up I didn't hesitate to attend. What a lovely family-run home this is. All the carers and staff are so lovely. The fundraising was so much fun. You could tell that lots of work went into this event. Thank you.
Excellent food beautiful. Staff lovely and polite. Clean.
I came here several times to visit a relative and also attended some of the fundraisers. This a lovely place on lovely grounds. The staff are all very knowledgeable and helpful. The whole building is very clean and well-maintained.
My mum had a major stroke in March 2015 which left her unable to speak or bear her own weight. After initially spending some time in hospital, the consultant gave her a prognosis of 6 months. She was admitted to the Old Rectory Nursing Home in the summer of 2015 and is still enjoying the life that she can 9 years later. The fact that my brother, sister and I and our respective and extended families have the privilege to spend time with our mum is solely down to the excellent care at the Old Rectory. Every member of staff treats the residents as individuals. They are all professional, caring, compassionate and engaged. The food is excellent and the activities are second to none, featuring quizzes, sing songs, reminiscing, and themed weeks, ie. Christmas, special occasions such as Royal weddings etc, garden parties involving all staff residents and loved ones. They also offer individual afternoon teas and celebrate individual birthdays. This is an outstanding, well-led home.
My uncle moved here from Wales after a hospital stay and was not able to return home. We chose the home due to the location as my uncle wanted somewhere rural. Although it was only a short stay the care he received was the best and the support from the staff at the end will not be forgotten. The home is lovely and is like home from home, not like a nursing home, I would have no hesitation in recommending this home, the staff are amazing.
Lovely family atmosphere in a family-run business. I think the staff feel valued and the residents feel the benefit of this. The staff work hard to make residents comfortable, secure and happy. They work as a team and most seem to enjoy their work. The proprietors are key to the success of the home, supporting the pleasant, friendly atmosphere which helps residents to feel comfortable and relaxed.
My mother has been living in The Old Rectory Nursing Home for over five years now and in that time, the standard of care has not wavered. The staff are excellently trained, always courteous and always respectful. Not only has my mother found a caring home, she has found new loving people who now make up her day-to-day 'family' environment. I am grateful from the bottom of my heart that Mum is here.
Staff are friendly and helpful. Took a little while to get a vase for the flowers I brought for my friend.
Mum has been a resident for over 2 years now and really feels this is her home. She feels very safe and well cared for and genuinely loved by all the staff. She enjoys the homemade food and often comments on how tasty it is! Although she doesn't engage too much with the activities with the other residents, preferring to enjoy the comforts of her room and the beautiful view of the back garden from her window, there is certainly a good programme to entertain the residents. Mum is taken every few weeks to a salon to have her nails painted which she so appreciates! Mum is very happy and content, and we have total peace of mind that she is being well cared for. We are so thankful to all at the Old Rectory!
Mum has been a resident of The Old Rectory Nursing Home since 2015, arriving when she needed care prior to an operation - thankfully successful. Although Mum was relatively active for her age, prior to Covid - now 99, she needs more care than she ever did - especially since she is no longer able to hold cutlery or cups. Over the years, all the staff at The Old Rectory have been wonderful and nothing has been too much trouble. Mum is included in the activities and staff encourage her to take part as much as she can, which is so important to me as I live in a different part of the country and am unable to visit every week. I know that Mum is part of a loving and caring community.
