View Full Details of Ferndale Court Care HomeMyself and my husband regularly visit my Mother in Law who being a former District Nurse has always been up and dressed early in the day. She has been in this home now for 4 half months and it's like the level of care isn't there, this is not the carer's fault as they seem to be very short staffed. There has never been a time in these 4 months when a family member has visited that she's been out of bed before 11.30am washed, dressed and sat in her chair. This is only a small snippet into the failings that I have noted throughout her stay and I'm afraid this puts the home in a very bad light. There are buzzers going off constantly, people wanting attention, residents shouting for assistance. This is having a detrimental affect on my health, never mind my Mother in Law.
I cannot thank the staff at Ferndale enough for providing excellent care for my mum - it was a very hard decision for us as a family to let go and hand over our precious mum/nanna to somebody else's care but they made the transition so easy providing a safe and happy environment - thank you for taking such special care of her
Moving mum to Ferndale Court has meant that I know that she is safe and well cared for. I can visit mum whenever I want and all the staff are amazing and a credit to this home. One of the main reasons I like this home is the staff and the small residential unit which suits my mum as it's not too overwhelming for her. I would definitely recommend Ferndale Court to anyone looking for a place for a family member or friend.
My husband needs more help with his food whether it is soup or cereals because he spills most of it. Also, he eats with his fingers a lot and his hands are not clean. They should be washed before he eats as a matter of hygiene. He can only use one hand so his food should be cut up so he can eat with a fork.
The Home was beautifully decorated at Christmas and very welcoming. My sister's room was also well decorated and she received many small gifts. I visited on Christmas morning and there was a good atmosphere by the staff.
Just been to a swing singer at Ferndale Court. My mum loved the singer and her interaction with him was amazing. She really enjoyed herself. Thanks to all involved.
The staff are great very helpful and caring. There are plenty of activities and support.
The only good thing about Ferndale was the food and the activities. Ferndale Residential is fine if you are mobile and healthy but be vigilant if your loved one becomes ill as they are not medically trained so you must ensure that they are looked after properly. My loved one suffered needlessly with regard to nursing care.
Caring, helpful and friendly staff. In twelve months, not had one negative experience. The room is quite small and slightly dated, but the positive aspects outweigh this. Excellent activities provided by a dedicated and enthusiastic staff member. Pleasant communal areas. Very flexible visiting times.
I have visited my cousin on three occasions this year and it was welcoming in the care home. The staff are lovely. My cousin loves being in Ferndale and is very happy there.
Dad moved across to Ferndale Court following Mum's death. It was a gradual process and we felt very safe and assured that Dad was being looked after. Both me and my brother live a significant distance from here so I am grateful that Dad lives in a safe and comfortable environment and we know he is looked after. I know that he struggles more at weekends as there is less to do and we try and take him out more. I would recommend this place to other families if they were thinking of placing a loved one in case. It's difficult but Dad is in the safest and comfortable home.
My parents were together in Ferndale Court Care Home until my mum passed in September. The staff in Mews and Court recognised my dad's loneliness and together they introduced my dad to the activities at Court. The change was introduced and not rushed. Dad is now settled into the Court and in lining in with the excellent activities led by a very enthusiastic Irish gentleman. Dad enjoys the food and good company of the staff and other residents. Dad is terminally ill but the move to the Court has given him a new lease of life.
This is a shout-out to the Ferndale activities coordinator. A wonderful man that clearly loves his work! It's a joy to watch as he interacts with the resident. An expert in the art of love in action. Bless you all!
My friend has settled in and is very happy with the care she is receiving. Staff are friendly, cheerful and provide an excellent standard of care. I have been very impressed by the wide range of activities they have organised for the residents, their families and friends; very enjoyable and much appreciated.
My uncle was discharged from hospital with terminal cancer. As a family, we had limited experience of care homes. We have however been very pleased with the excellent level of care that my uncle received and the way we as family visitors have been treated by the professional caring friendly staff. Thank you.
I am delighted with the way our mum has settled into her new surroundings. It took a while, but the staff persevered, and now Mum feels confident again to sit in the shared lounge and dining room. Staff and management are approachable. Exciting, varied and appropriate activities are planned.
It was my mum's 90th on 09/12/2022 and the care home had a party dinner for Mum and other residents during the day (which she loved). Set up the conservatory for Mum and family in the afternoon with lights and music. They couldn't have done more for Mum. Mum and all the family had a lovely time. All staff are really nice and caring.
My big sister passed away this month, and although l only got to visit her last year, her daughter visited her regularly and aided the staff with my sister's every need. On my visit l found my sister in a happy clean state, she had a great sense of humour, and she made visitors and staff laugh along with her weird tales. It's her funeral on Friday 9-12-22, she was 81yrs old this year. I would wish to thank all the staff at Ferndale Court Care Home, for aiding her final years, and big thanks to her daughter, her daughter's family and friends, for also being great aids in her times of need. Bless you, all.
Dedicated, wonderful and caring staff. Some updates are required in bedrooms.
Mum has recently left the hospital for respite care. The staff have gone above and beyond their roles to make her and us the family feel very welcome. Their care and support means a lot to us, especially at this difficult time.
