View Full Details of Northwood Nursing & Residential CareI can honestly say this is our first time experiencing a care home for our loved one and the difference in health since our mother has been here at Northwood Nursing and Residential Care is exceptional. The owner has treated us like a family member which is a great feeling for us. The staff are amazing, they make us coffee and treat us great.
Amazing, compassionate service, couldn't have had any better service, only downside is they should allow loved ones in anytime during the day, even if its lunch time or meds. Overall they treated my neighbour with amazing dignity and care in his last few days, we will never forget that. Especially the Spanish lady nurse and the registered general nurse, stay blessed.
We moved my brother to Northwood after a bad experience at a previous home, and we couldn’t have been happier with the way that all staff cared for him. He had complex care needs and couldn’t leave his room but he was looked after with care and respect. The home has a lovely warm atmosphere and brilliant staff who can be relied upon to be professional at all times. He loved his stay here until he died on 7.7.23. Thank you for looking after my brother. Highly recommended.
My husband and I would like to thank the carers at Northwood care home. We had a meal with my husband's parents today. The meal was lovely and the lady went out of her way to make it special. The table looked nice and the food was really tasty. We were all very very full up after. What a great idea to invite relatives into the home to have a meal and spend time with them and create such a nice atmosphere. The carers also were lovely and helped my mother-in-law to look lovely for the Christmas meal dressed all in red and her nails were painted. These types of gestures make all the difference to relatives. Thank you again, to the carers and staff at Northwood.
Although our aunt has only been with Northwood for a week, it is already clear that here is a nursing home where there is concern and compassion in equal measure for the residents. No matter how busy people are, there is always the opportunity to discuss matters and come to decisions about the ongoing care. We have been impressed with the commitment of all the staff and this is reflected in those small gestures which make all the difference. Thanks to everyone involved, it is appreciated.
Please do not send your family members here! My Father received inadequate care at Northwood nursing home. The visiting policies are likely to be more relaxed in a prison. The level of communication with families is poor and it is very difficult to get through on the telephone. The management consistently lie and change their rules to suit their own requirements. Patient-centred care is severely lacking. The deputy nurse felt it appropriate to shout at my family members in corridors in front of my father, who did not have full capacity at this time, just days before his death. She also openly gave my family members dirty looks and sneered at them. She ignored their requests to speak only with me and continued to give my family members abuse when they were already in serious distress. My family and I were also admonished by other nursing staff in the corridor, in front of the owner who just looked on, just because we wanted to visit my father who, shortly after moving to this home died.
Sisters husband was in Northwood Nursing and Residential Care. The staff have been excellent during his care and excellent whilst he died. We were all treated with care and support during his short stay at the home.
My grandad was at Northwood for a few weeks for end of life care. Everyone I met during my visits, manager, carers, cook etc. were all so compassionate and caring. They all provided exceptional care. Someone was always available to have a chat with. They all made the last couple of weeks easier for me and my family, to get through. Everyone at Northwood Nursing and Residential Care are truly special people.
Following complicated hip surgery along with vascular dementia, my father was assigned to Northwood Nursing & Residential Care. This was during the Covid 19 crisis and we had little choice in the selection of Northwood. Although apprehensive at first, we found the managers and nursing staff at Northwood to be very professional, caring and diligent. They acted upon our requests for my father who was on an end of life plan. This included small changes which helped my father. My family found the nursing staff to be caring, honest and importantly experienced, they frequently made the right medical call at the right time regarding dad's care. Thank you to all at Northwood.
Dad went into Northwood for end of life care. From the beginning, the whole experience was a very positive one for the whole family. Dad was provided with a spacious room, big enough to accommodate the family when the time came to gather together. We were encouraged to personalise the room as much as possible to help dad feel at home. In the end, dad was not there long, he was made comfortable, treated with loving care and great dignity. The staff's kindness itself to dad and to us, we will always be grateful for the endless tea, the help and support to us that made dad's passing special.
My dad suffered a stroke in Jan, it has left him needing 24 hr care. We had concerns about a previous care home and his health deteriorating, so after a short stay in hospital, he moved into Northwood Nursing & Residential Care home. Northwood is currently having rooms updated/refurbished and the changes look fantastic. My dad's room is clean and cosy. There are various tasty home cooked meals offered here. The building, decor, the facilities etc are great. But its the exceptionally caring staff, experienced nurses and management team that deserve the praise and make Northwood an outstanding place of care. They have gone the extra mile to welcome my dad and make him comfortable. I visit on a daily basis and I've seen how amazing and hard working the staff are, always taking time to listen with patience and understanding. They've made a big difference to my dads day to day quality of life. He is settled and very happy now. Knowing he is being cared for properly and receiving good medical care... is worth its weight in gold.
Mum has Parkinson's. Although we had respite and wanted to keep her at home, we were forced eventually to put her into residential care. We had experience of different places but heard that Northwood staff were extremely kind. We decided to take a room last October. We are so relieved and happy with the care she is receiving - care I can only describe as loving kindness. We go whenever we want and are always welcomed warmly and offered a cuppa. The nursing is excellent - liquid meds that are much easier for her, always on time. Her hearing aid, including new batteries when necessary, and glasses in place - not lost or left as was the case elsewhere ( places with decent reputations -but not a patch on Northwood) Food is really tasty and varied. Mum gets fed in a kind careful manner. Everyone goes the extra mile. Clothes haven't gone astray - another common problem elsewhere. I really cannot praise them enough. Mum is happy, settled - we feel so grateful.
I don't usually write reviews but I must let it be known that Northwood is the place to be if you are looking for nursing care for yourself or family. My brother who recently spent the remaining days of his life at Northwood after being moved from hospital with a chronic lung condition. Even though he was only with them for 5 days he sadly passed away but the quality of care did not go unnoticed by my brother, who was quick to point out to me "this place is so clean" , it certainly is exceptionally clean and I would give 10/10 without hesitation. From day one my brother was treated with dignity and kindness and this continued right to the end, and a carer was holding his hand as he finally passed away. The nursing staff also deserve a heartfelt thanks as my brother described them as angels. Every member of staff from the manager downwards, please accept my thanks for making my brothers final days on this earth as comfortable as possible.
