View Full Details of Broom Lane Care HomeMy stepdad, who has dementia, has been a full time resident at Broom Lane Care Home for 4 months and we have been really impressed with the staff and their commitment to the job and their residents. Two members of staff in particular who both made sure his move to the home was as smooth and efficient as possible. At the time of the move my mum, 80 years old, was his full time carer and was finding the physical side of his care (lifting, showering, etc.) just too difficult to be able to take care of him at home. Because of this urgency the home found him a temporary room on another unit until his permanent room became available. As soon as he moved in both his and my mum's quality of life drastically improved. Mum now enjoys going to visit him and speaks about the staff as her new friends. Knowing he has the right care available to him 24/7 is a weight off our shoulders. I'm very grateful for everything that the Broom Lane staff have done for both my stepdad and my mum.
Since dad has been in Broom Lane Care Home he has been treated with dignity and looked after, that he didn't have in hospital. The staff are lovely and work very hard, they are understaffed at times and the workload is excessive. The medical support is good but sometimes the medicines are not as we request. Dad has an eczema condition that is helped with increasing his steroid tablets until under control and Dermorate steroid cream.
Completely happy with the care my mum receives in the Sitwell part of the home. Staff are lovely and genuinely care. Many have years of experience and receive regular training. Mum settled in quickly, after a disastrous encounter in another care home, and is very happy here. Her room is nice and spacious and kept beautiful and clean.
My sister who has vulva cancer, dementia and recently broken her hip required an interim care home before she could go into her nursing care home. We chose this one and can I say, the home was outstanding. We were greeted warmly after a rushed discharge and within a week the carers became my sister's family. They cleaned her, fed her fantastic meals, knew all her requirements both medical and socially within days. My sister had been in hospital for months and on every day of those months she asked ‘when am I going home’. Home as she knew it was never going to be for her as her medical needs are complex and her condition is palliative. The best gift this home gave us was when she said ‘it’s good to be home, no place like home’ The staff, from the reception to the housekeepers were professional and compassionate. There was one occasion when my sister’s hygiene lapsed, but it was resolved immediately and it never happened again. We would have no reservations recommending Broom Lane.
My mum was looked after amazingly by the care staff. They were always smiling and polite and very kind to my mum. The staff made the care home, and I wouldn’t have wanted my mum to be cared for by anyone else. A big thank you to everyone at Broom Lane!
The staff were polite and attentive to my family member. The home was clean and well presented. I felt my family member was well looked after and received the best care possible. I would recommend the care home to family and friends in the future.
My grandma is a resident at Broom Lane and is very well cared for. My grandma is always well presented and always has a smile on her face. My grandma speaks very highly of all the staff at Broom Lane. The managers are always available to help and advise, when needed. Lovely care home.
The staff and comfort in the Oakwood suite are excellent. My wife is very well cared for and I have no worries.
Broom Lane Care Home management and staff have been amazingly helpful, caring and accommodating to my grandad's needs since he’s just moved into Broom Lane, Grandad arrives on an emergency for his own safety. We didn’t feel pressured or pushed into anything. The staff went out of their way to make Grandad welcome and settled. Grandad now doesn’t want to leave having made new friends. Grandad is now safe and happy. Thank you to all at Broom Lane.
All the staff I have dealt with are extremely kind and caring. My husband seems happy and content. I have nothing but admiration for the carers who look after him.
This week I’ve been able to visit my grandma at Broom Lane this week for the first time in over a year. I can’t praise all the staff enough, my visit was well organised and feel all precautions were taken. My grandma looked well cared for and during my visit, telling me she’s been to visit the hairdresser. Grandma informed me of all the amazing things she gets up to each day and how lovely and kind all the staff are at Broom Lane. Thank you all very much.
In the short time that my father has been in Broom Lane Care Home, I have been extremely impressed by the care, support and consideration shown by the staff. They go that extra mile to ensure that residents are treated with dignity and that their families are able to communicate with them even in such trying times as these.
Most of the staff are very polite and helpful but could do with a few more staff and cleaners, so that when residents ring their bell there is plenty of staff to see them, without too long a wait.
The staff are very good and nothing is too much trouble.
Moved mum in very quickly as respite needed due to family illness. Very patient staff dealt with any problems very satisfactorily. Mum very happy and settled.
I visited a friend today (24th February) and as soon as I walked in the front door of the home the smell of urine hit me! My friend's room was just as bad and her quilt was damp and urine-stained. She too smelled of urine which is not her fault and is all down to her dementia. Some major improvements in this area need to be made.
Myself and my family are so grateful to the kindness that the staff in the home have shown to my mother. The home is clean and tidy, and Mum loves spending time in the lounges - participating in the events and activities the home has on. Overall, we are thrilled with how Mum has been treated in the home.
All the staff we have met have been kind, caring and friendly. Grandpa seems well-fed, clean and supported. There is not much stimulation for him, he doesn't get outside in the fresh air and seems to spend most of the day in a chair where he can't even see the TV or look out into the garden. He is profoundly deaf so most activities pass him by, he can only really join in if someone sits with him and writes things down for him as he can't hear conversation. Staff don't have time to do this, so he is quite lonely and bored a lot, although happier than living alone.
The care home is clean and the staff are friendly and kind. There isn't much stimulation for my grandfather due to his deafness. Some trips out or interaction with a chalkboard to write what is said would really improve his quality of life in his later years. There is lots of space for the residents and it's quite clean and bright.
My mother has only been in Broom Lane for 4 weeks but I have noticed a difference in her due to the company she has. The home is lovely and clean, the staff are very caring and my mother loves to chat.
